"There's nothing else here, you can go back to your work!"
Deputy General Manager Yang wanted to say something, but then he saw Li Muhao quietly leading Xiao Yanbao through the fire door. Deputy General Manager Yang was obviously worried about the two young children being there. If the fire door locked them inside, he would probably lose his job.
"Wait a minute, I'll come with you!"
Xiao Yanbao and Li Muhao had already realized that there were no ghosts inside, so they didn't ask the other party to leave again, but let the other party follow behind them.
Behind the fire door is a corridor only a dozen meters long, where traces of water damage and smoke can still be seen.
After the three walked through the corridor, they were surprised to find that there was a meeting room that could accommodate one or two hundred people. However, due to the neglect, the meeting room was covered with cobwebs, and the wooden floor and steps on the stage were warped.
Deputy General Manager Yang hurriedly stepped forward and reached out to brush away the spider webs that had fallen to the ground. A large amount of spider webs were caught in his hand, and a lot of dust fell out. The sunlight shining through the window cracks showed that the air was full of floating dust.
"Gentlemen, this place is too dirty. Don't get your clothes dirty. Why don't we go outside? There's nothing here."
Li Muhao pointed to the abandoned meeting room, glanced at Deputy General Manager Yang standing to the side with a forced smile, and said calmly:
"How can there be a meeting room like this in a shopping mall? Who would hold a meeting in a place like this? This design is simply idiotic! And why isn't this space being used?"
Li Muhao showed no mercy to Deputy General Manager Yang, stating all his questions in an unfriendly tone.
Deputy General Manager Yang thought Li Muhao was asking him why he wasn't making use of such a large space, and immediately became nervous, even breaking out in a thick layer of sweat on his forehead.
Just as Deputy General Manager Yang was unsure how to answer, Xiao Yanbao glanced at the size of the rink and suddenly recalled the footage of the World Figure Skating Championships he had seen recently. He then spoke earnestly:
"Third brother, why don't you open an ice rink here?"
Upon hearing Xiao Yanbao's words, Li Muhao immediately nodded and gave Xiao Yanbao a thumbs up. Meanwhile, Deputy General Manager Yang, standing to the side, spoke up somewhat anxiously:
“I remember now, this used to be a high-end conference venue, but it was already closed off when I came here as the deputy general manager.”
Huh? Li Muhao then remembered that the building used for this shopping mall was not built by the Li family. He vaguely remembered that this place was not a shopping mall before, and it seemed that it had only been open for three or four years.
Before Li Muhao could ask anything, Deputy General Manager Yang looked up at the completely dilapidated decorations and noticed that some walls had started to peel off, and the mottled walls showed that no one had been here for a long time.
Seeing this, Deputy General Manager Yang hesitated for a moment, glancing at Xiao Yanbao and Li Muhao, who were staring at him, before gritting his teeth and suddenly speaking:
“I heard there are unclean things here, which is why this place was sealed off. I don’t know the specifics. People around here are very secretive about what happened back then. I’ve asked around in private, but no one has told me much.”
Something unclean? The people around here are also very reluctant to talk about what happened here?
Xiao Yanbao and Li Muhao both thought of the ghostly figure. This place must be unclean, but so far they haven't discovered what terrifying thing is here.
Li Muhao held a calligraphy brush in one hand, discreetly surveying his surroundings. After a moment, he spoke:
"What unclean things are there? What do you know about them? Tell me in detail!"
Deputy General Manager Yang looked troubled, but fearing that his hesitation would displease the boss, he could only grit his teeth and say:
"I heard from the people downstairs that they always hear voices and screams coming from inside. It is said that six or seven years ago, a man killed a woman who was attending an ophthalmology lecture here and set a fire in the corridor."
At this point, Deputy General Manager Yang glanced worriedly in the direction of the corridor before speaking again:
"The marks on the wall are said to be from when the fire was put out. Since then, a fire door has been installed outside, and this place has been completely sealed off."
I see. But what does this have to do with that ghostly figure? And I don't sense any ghostly presence here.
Li Muhao couldn't quite remember what happened when he signed the purchase agreement for the building to be converted into a shopping mall. As for why the large conference room where the accident occurred wasn't demolished during the renovation, the manager, who had only been working there for a few years, probably didn't know.
It seems I need to go home and find out who was in charge of the renovation and decoration back then, and what his connection is to this place, that he didn't demolish it but instead preserved it all.
Xiao Yanbao went to the stairwell again and stared intently at the fire door. However, no matter what method he used, Xiao Yanbao still had no way to find the ghost or anything that could shroud his senses in mist.
"Third brother, let's go!"
As soon as Xiao Yanbao spoke, Deputy General Manager Yang was immediately delighted. These two little devils should hurry up and leave. They absolutely cannot get into trouble in the area under his responsibility; he couldn't afford to take the blame.
Then, Deputy General Manager Yang gestured for Li Muhao and Xiao Yanbao to walk back.
