Amidst piles of stinking garbage, there was a clean wall.
On the wall was a large, colorful poster with information about Bo Lai and Yang Juan's missing daughter.
The magazine features girls from childhood to adulthood.
The magazine was clean, which shows that someone must have been wiping away the dirt regularly.
Su Tiantian saw that the garbage station only had a narrow path less than a meter wide, and the road surface was covered with sewage that had come from some unknown bag.
Su Tiantian led Lin the Blind Man inside. Perhaps hearing someone come in, an old woman's voice came from inside: "Throw your trash to the right."
Bo Lai and Yang Juan were the only people at the garbage station, so Su Tiantian knew immediately that it was Yang Juan who was speaking.
She looked to her right, where there was a mountain of garbage, with all sorts of rotten bags.
She looked to her left, where there was also a mountain of garbage, no different from the one on her right.
Su Tiantian felt a little uneasy. Yang Juan's words had been spoken numbly, only uttered subconsciously.
However, many people who come to throw away their trash do not respect her, so there is trash scattered everywhere on both sides.
This place truly lives up to its name as the Gate of Death; it is deathly still and utterly devoid of life.
The people who live here will never have any hope in anything in life.
They will be trapped here for as long as they live, until they die.
In other words, Yang Juan and Bo Lai will never find their lost daughter, and they will never be able to leave this place.
So much garbage awaits their cleanup, but after working from dawn till dusk, the garbage they sell is barely enough to make ends meet; they have no money to leave this place.
Su Tiantian led Lin the blind man further inside. Before she even saw the entrance, an elderly woman with white hair, hunched over and leaning on a cane, came out.
She glanced at Su Tiantian and Lin Xiazi, then asked casually, "Did you accidentally throw something away when you were taking out the trash?"
"The lost and found is in the backyard. Go check if your lost item is there."
After Yang Juan finished speaking, she turned around and walked behind the garbage heap, ignoring Su Tiantian and Blind Lin.
Yang Juan walked slowly and was soon obscured by the garbage and debris.
The other path she pointed to was also a small path carved out of a garbage dump.
Su Tiantian led Lin the blind man over and saw a pile of lost and found items.
None of them were anything valuable: a chipped bowl, a broken winnowing basket, a stool missing a leg, and some other odds and ends.
These are clearly trash, and Su Tiantian is very curious as to why they would keep them.
These are already broken, who would come looking for them if they were lost?
Su Tiantian led Lin the Blind Man back, heading towards the place where Yang Juan had gone.
When Yang Juan saw Yang Juan again, she stood up awkwardly and hurriedly explained, "Where are all the good stuff? We didn't take the good stuff, really!"
"My old man has been taking medication these days, I really can't afford to pay for it..."
Yang Juan choked up as she spoke.
The old man and the little girl looked to be living a good life, dressed in nice clothes. The little girl, in particular, looked fair-skinned and extremely cute. Only a good family could raise a child like that.
But even someone like that has to make things difficult for her.
A wave of sadness and grievance washed over Yang Juan, and she lowered her head and wiped away her tears.
"Auntie, my master and I are not here to cause you trouble. We are here to tell you the truth."
Su Tiantian panicked when she saw Yang Juan wiping away tears and quickly tried to explain.
She didn't know how much suffering Yang Juan had endured, but Su Tiantian could sense it from her words—it was incredibly hard.
Yang Juan stared blankly at Su Tiantian, her chapped lips moving slightly: "What truth?"
A wave of immense sorrow washed over Yang Juan. Could it be that her daughter had been found?
Yang Juan's eyes ached again at the thought of her daughter.
The worst outcome would be that they are separated by death forever. But even if they are separated by death, it's okay. She and her father will soon go down to be with their daughter, and then the family will be reunited.
"Your destiny is noble, but someone has taken it away and you are suffering for them. The more miserable you are, the better off the person behind you will be."
Lin the Blind spoke in a deep voice. This was the conclusion he had drawn after learning about the deeds of the two Bo brothers from Wu Pinggui. He was still aware of Bo Lai and Yang Juan's birth dates, but looking at their birth dates only confirmed that the result was correct.
Yang Juan was stunned. After a while, her expression suddenly changed, and she angrily picked up her cane and hit Lin the Blind and Su Tiantian.
"Get out, get out..."
Yang Juan suddenly became angry and told Lin the Blind and Su Tiantian to leave.
She didn't dare hit Blind Lin or Su Tiantian with her cane; instead, she made a loud 'slap slap' sound as it landed on the ground beside them to express her anger.
She stretched out her dry, dirty hands to push them away.
Normally, people would avoid her at this point because her hands had touched countless kinds of garbage; they were too dirty and smelly.
Everyone was afraid that her hands might carry bacteria or viruses, and that they might soil their clothes so that they could never get them clean again.
But Blind Lin and Su Tiantian didn't move.
Yang Juan was caught off guard when Lin the Blind man helped her up by the hands.
“Yang Juan, I know you’ve been scammed many times, but trust us, we can find your daughter. Just give us half an hour.”
Lin the Blind spoke sincerely, and he even took off his sunglasses with his free hand and said, "I am blind, but I see the world with my heart."
"Everything about you and your husband is common knowledge, so I won't go into those details. Let me tell you how to find your daughter."
After Lin the Blind Man finished speaking, Yang Juan stopped struggling.
She looked at Blind Lin with tear-filled, red eyes. Her lips trembled. She turned her head to look in the direction of the dilapidated house gate, and finally gave in.
She said with difficulty, "My house is very dirty and there's nowhere to put your feet. If you don't mind, please come in."
Even though she has been deceived countless times, she will still believe the other party without hesitation when they say they can find her daughter.
She walked ahead, leaning on her cane and hunching over.
Su Tiantian led Lin the Blind Man behind them.
The yard of the garbage station was piled high with trash and debris, and the main gate was blocked, leaving only a small opening that allowed people to squeeze through sideways.
Upon entering, one could hear faint coughing sounds coming from inside.
The floor was damp, and green mold was creeping up the corners of the walls.
These appear to be recyclable waste that has been cleared out, but much of it looks like it can no longer be recycled.
Su Tiantian was shocked, but she would soon have the answers to these questions.
Who's here?
Upon entering the inner room, a weak voice asked a question.
That was Yang Juan's husband, Bo Lai. He was so thin that he was just skin and bones, and he couldn't get out of bed at all.
His sunken eye sockets made him look like a skull.
Yang Juan sat down by the bed and said softly, "A blind fortune teller came and said he could find our Baozhu, so I brought them in..."
“Xiaojuan, as long as there is a glimmer of hope to find our daughter, we cannot give up. You did the right thing.”
Upon hearing this, Bo Lai became excited. As soon as he moved, Yang Juan immediately helped him sit up. The tacit understanding between the couple was ingrained in their bones. After Bo Lai sat down, Yang Juan even put a pillow behind his back.
