Chapter 56 Longing to Go Home

Su Dahai gave Su Chengguo a wink.

Su Chengguo instantly understood and loudly said to the noodle shop owner, "Boss, give me five catties of cooked beef."

"That's a big spender."

Liu, the fishmonger, looked at the Su family father and son and joked that he brought them here to eat rice noodles because they were cheap and filling.

I didn't expect them to give me five pounds of beef; that's really generous.

"Everyone has worked hard, so let's just grab a quick bite so we can get home in time."

Su Dahai smiled and said that he understood that the success of this matter was not due to the efforts of him and his son. What was a meal compared to the reward?

Since you've started, you should do it well.

Everyone was happy.

They have to spend several hundred yuan just to come out, so they are extremely lucky.

After eating the noodles and five pounds of beef, everyone felt full of energy.

Su Chengguo went to pay the bill. The beef was so delicious that he bought another five jin (2.5 kg) to take home for his family.

Seeing this, Liu, the fishmonger, smiled and ran off to buy beef as well.

The Su family members became much more insightful after experiencing that shipwreck; he should learn from them.

Even the air on the way home tasted sweet.

Once we arrived in town, we transferred to a tractor.

The tractor driver, Su Chengguo, was also given two hundred yuan as payment.

...

As the sun rose high in the sky, the Su family's gate opened wide.

Zhou Chunmei and Li Xue sat outside the door weaving nets, occasionally glancing up at the intersection.

They barely slept last night.

I can't even eat breakfast this morning.

Su Luo and Liu Xiaohua cooked a pot of noodles. Su Luo came out and called to her two sisters-in-law: "Sister-in-law, it's time for lunch. Today I cooked fish ball noodles."

"It's already noon."

Zhou Chunmei sighed, looked at the empty intersection, got up and went inside.

Li Xue followed them into the house.

The children, unaware of what had happened at home, were busy slurping their noodles.

Zhou Chunmei picked up her chopsticks but put them down again. She sighed and said, "They're not back yet, and I can't eat any more. I'll share them with the two rascals."

Li Xue ate a few bites and then quietly shared some with her two sons.

I don't seem to feel hungry at all, and I have little appetite.

Liu Xiaohua shook her head and looked at them helplessly, saying, "You can't eat? They must have eaten breakfast before coming back. If God wants us to get rich, He will naturally bless everything to go smoothly. You're just too young."

"If you can't eat, then my daughter and I will eat more."

After Liu Xiaohua finished speaking, she put a few more fish balls on Su Luo's plate.

Su Luo said somewhat embarrassedly, "Mom, I have enough to eat."

Su Luo also had concerns, but she could not eat.

Liu Xiaohua also has a good appetite.

Zhou Chunmei helped hold Su Tiantian, who smiled and said, "Mom, I'm just a country bumpkin, and I don't breastfeed, so I don't feel hungry."

After Zhou Chunmei finished speaking, she looked down at Su Tiantian and asked with a smile, "Tiantian, when do you think your grandfather and uncle are coming back?"

"Hey~"

Soon.

Su Tiantian looked at Zhou Chunmei and spoke in a childish voice, then smiled at her.

Zhou Chunmei smiled and said to herself, "Oh, you said it would be soon, we're already halfway there, we'll be home soon, thank you so much, my sweet little one."

Li Xue couldn't help but chuckle as she listened to Zhou Chunmei's words.

The second brother and his wife are a perfect match.

"Mom, Grandma, we're going out to play."

"Goodbye, little aunt; goodbye, little sister..."

After the children finished eating, they were about to go out to play. They wiped their mouths with their hands and quickly disappeared.

After Su Luo finished eating, she helped clear the dishes. Liu Xiaohua took over and said, "Go feed the baby. Tian Tian hasn't had lunch yet. I'll wash these dishes."

It's only the first day after giving birth, why are you in such a hurry to do work?

Su Luo hugged Liu Xiaohua, took Su Tiantian from Zhou Chunmei's arms, and went to breastfeed her.

Li Xue and Zhou Chunmei continued weaving fishing nets.

Zhou Chunmei couldn't calm down, so she put down her work and spoke to Li Xue: "Sister-in-law, how much do you think this bluefin tuna will sell for?"

Li Xue thought for a moment, then shook her head and replied, "I don't know either. I've never seen or heard of this fish before."

Because you know nothing, you lack the willpower to even imagine.

But how much can it actually sell for?

She was genuinely curious.

Seeing Li Xue's words, Zhou Chunmei sighed, closed her eyes, and said, "God, please let them come back soon..."

"Chunmei..."

Zhou Chunmei was making a wish to herself, but before she could finish, she heard Su Chengguo calling her. She opened her eyes and looked at Li Xue excitedly, saying, "Sister-in-law, did you hear that just now...?"

Li Xue interrupted Zhou Chunmei with a smile, saying, "I heard it, they're back."

Su Chengguo is always like this, but it is precisely because of this that they are able to know that they are back immediately.

Upon receiving an affirmative answer, Zhou Chunmei couldn't wait to run towards the intersection to greet him.

Li Xue smiled and followed.

"Wow, you guys are so lucky! You and your wife have such a good relationship that they came all the way to pick you up."

When Liu, who was collecting fish, saw Li Xue and Zhou Chunmei, he jokingly teased Su Chenggong and Su Chengguo.

Su Chenggong touched his head shyly, and without saying anything, he just looked at Li Xue and smiled.

Su Chengguo chuckled and said, "Brother Liu, my wife is here to pick me up. I'm off now."

Su Chengguo also ran towards Zhou Chunmei.

His conspicuousness made Zhou Chunmei feel embarrassed. Her face quickly turned red, and her steps slowed down until she finally stopped.

Su Chengguo walked up to her and asked with a smile, "Chunmei, why is your face so red? Is it because it's too hot?"

Zhou Chunmei pinched Su Chengguo in frustration.

Su Chengguo smiled broadly. He thought Zhou Chunmei looked extremely beautiful at this moment, with a shy yet demure charm. He couldn't get enough of looking at her.

"Good afternoon, my two younger siblings. While you're chatting, I need to hurry home."

Liu, the fish collector, greeted everyone cheerfully and then headed home.

"Thank you, Brother Liu. I'll treat you to dinner and drinks another day."

Su Chengguo shouted at Liu's back as he collected the fish.

Liu, the fish collector, didn't turn around; he simply raised his chubby hand and waved.

"Dad, you must be tired."

Zhou Chunmei inquired with concern.

Su Dahai smiled and shook his head. He was physically tired, but he didn't feel tired at all.

"Chunmei, we had beef noodles in the city this morning. The beef noodles there were so delicious! We brought these back especially for you. Have you had lunch yet?"

Su Chengguo lifted the beef in her hand with a smile on her face.

When Zhou Chunmei saw the beef, her eyes lit up and she said, "You do have a conscience."

Whether they eat beef or not is not important; what matters is that they are being remembered.

Even if what they brought back wasn't beef, but just two pieces of maltose or wild berries picked from the roadside, they would still be happy.

Liu Xiaohua came out when she heard the noise and saw Su Chengguo showing off the beef. She smiled and asked, "You haven't had lunch yet, have you? There's still some noodles left from lunch. Have some, wash up and rest, and then have a proper meal tonight."
