Chapter 24: The Tip of the Iceberg of a Big Backer

The atmosphere in the hall is too noisy, and listening to it too much makes people drowsy.

At nightfall, the palace finally became peaceful. Jiang Qingqing perked up a little and wanted to take the opportunity of walking back leisurely while halfway to the main hall.

The melodious sounds of singing, dancing and stringed instruments from the main hall could be heard outside. Whenever Jiang Qingqing passed by the Imperial Garden, she could hear the singing and dancing there.

Suddenly, the sound of a woman crying broke the harmonious atmosphere.

Xin Juan's spirits lifted. She subconsciously tried to protect the little princess, but she saw Jiang Qingqing turning her head to look in the direction of the imperial garden.

"Shh, don't make any sound." Jiang Qingqing guessed that Xin Juan was going to speak, so she took the initiative, turned her head to Xin Juan, put her index finger on her lips, and spoke in a whisper.

Xin Juan looked at Jiang Qingqing worriedly and was about to shake her head to signal the princess not to take any risks and go back quickly.

Jiang Qingqing pretended not to see it, turned around and walked towards the imperial garden in a crouching position.

Xin Juan looked at the little princess and was as curious as a cat. She was worried that something might happen to her, but she didn't dare to do anything. She could only bite the bullet and follow the little princess.

The dark atmosphere of the Imperial Garden makes people's adrenaline surge. This is the first time since traveling through time that it has been so tense and exciting.

The night wind blew gently. Jiang Qingqing squatted in the bushes, and her small body was blocked. Although she could not see the situation in front of her, the sobbing sound seemed particularly abrupt in the quiet atmosphere.

"My Lord, please have mercy on this servant."

The voice is delicate, and the ending tone is gentle and light, so charming.

"Which palace are you from?"

A man's voice suddenly sounded. Jiang Qingqing held her breath and carefully identified it. It didn't seem to be the voice she had recognized recently.

The woman's voice seemed to be frightened, and her sobs and gasps made her sound a little weak.

"I...I am from the Jingren Palace, beside Consort De. Your Majesty, how could he appear here out of nowhere?"

There was a rustling of clothes and the sound of a red hairpin falling to the ground and being picked up hastily.

Jiang Qingqing listened attentively and suddenly sighed. She had never expected that in every imperial palace there would always be a few cheating people doing strange things behind the banquets.

There was no familiar voice, so Jiang Qingqing found it boring. She was just about to crouch down and go back the same way, but Xin Juan behind her took a step back and stepped on a branch on the ground without paying attention to where she was standing.

The sudden sound broke the quiet atmosphere. Jiang Qingqing widened her eyes and looked at Xin Juan with reproach for not being able to accomplish anything.

"Deal with her, and then investigate Jingren Palace." The boy's voice was hoarse due to his voice change, but it was decisive and resolute.

Jiang Qingqing had no time to escape, she turned around and looked behind her in surprise.

She was so shocked that she forgot to bend down. She stood up straight and poked her head out of the bushes. She saw a disheveled woman kneeling on the ground, and Xiao Linting standing beside her with a cold look on his face.

Imperial uncle! ?

Xiao Linting had already sensed that there were two more people in the Imperial Garden, but the palace maid in front of him was really troublesome, and the other party was in a state of inaction. He planned to deal with this troublesome woman before going to find out what was going on.

Unexpectedly, the other party suddenly lost their composure.

With a gloomy aura around him, he suddenly cast a scrutinizing gaze in the direction of the restlessness, and saw the lonely little kid standing on the road in the Imperial Garden, with its adorable micro-expressions full of surprise and fear.

The secret guard behind him pulled out a dagger and quickly covered the palace maid who had just reacted.

Xiao Linting reacted quickly, took a long step forward, walked in front of Jiang Qingqing, and moved sideways to block the child's sight.

All I heard was the palace maid who was still struggling at first, but she lost all response in a breath, and then there was the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground.

In the past, there was no swordplay in the female-dominated empire, only a bureaucracy full of intrigue and deception. Jiang Qingqing had never witnessed such a bloody scene in person.

Even though her view was blocked, her unconventional thinking still made her imagine the scene of the woman being killed by having her neck cut.

The small body couldn't help but shudder.

Before she opened her mouth to ask, her eyes were suddenly covered by a large palm, and the warm temperature warmed her trembling eyes.

The young man's deep voice seemed to have magic power, calming Jiang Qingqing's flustered heart, "Your Highness, it's late at night and the wind is cold, so please follow me back to the palace."

[So did I witness the secrets of the palace? Is this uncle so powerful that he could actually attack a palace maid with status and face? It's amazing! ]

Xiao Linting: Your Highness, is it your reaction that is wrong, or is it me? Shouldn't you be afraid first?

Although the little girl's body was trembling, her little hands were holding Xiao Linting's fingers with trembling fingertips. She pressed down slightly, revealing a pair of big watery eyes.

Not panic, not fear, nor terror.

They are starry eyes that sparkle with fragmented light like thousands of stars.

Jiang Qingqing opened her eyes and lied: "Uncle, I'm lost. Where is this?"

When Xiao Linting saw the little princess's appearance, he began to be unsure about how much the child had just seen or heard.

When he estimated that the secret guards behind him had almost cleaned up the scene, he bent down and held Jiang Qingqing in his arms, pressing his big hand on the back of her head.

Just in case, he held Jiang Qingqing in his arms and didn't let her look outside for even a second.

Jiang Qingqing was obedient and did not struggle, allowing the emperor's uncle to carry her out of the imperial garden.

"Perhaps it was because it was dark and the road was dim, Your Highness could not see the way back clearly. This is a small path, I will take Your Highness back."

[Look at this momentum! Look at the status of this statement! If you don’t rely on this great backer now, when will you? ]

"It's so dark, Qingqing is so scared, I need my uncle to hug me to feel better!"

Jiang Qingqing rubbed her uncle's chest in his arms, and spoke in a baby voice with a hint of fear.

If Xiao Linting had not been able to hear the little princess's inner thoughts, he would have really been deceived by this baby.

In order not to expose Jiang Qingqing's delicate face, Xiao Linting was helpless but willing to let Jiang Qingqing play the role of being weak.

He carried Jiang Qingqing back to the hall and returned to his seat. Jiang Qingqing stayed clung to Xiao Linting's arms and refused to leave no matter what.

[To cling to someone’s leg, we must have a clear understanding. We must first brainwash ourselves. For example, I am now the leg pendant of the emperor’s uncle! ]

Xiao Linting, who was holding a little trouble in his arms and drinking with Emperor Qing with a wine cup in his free hand, hesitated for a moment visibly.

Emperor Qing noticed something strange about Xiao Linting and glanced at the soft little ball in his arms. Although there was helplessness in the emperor's eyes, there was no sign of disapproval.

Instead, he joked, "Qingqing seems to be more attached to you than her three brothers. If you don't know, you might think Qingqing is Lin Ting's sister, hahaha."
