Chapter 50: The Third Brother Skips Class

According to the usual rules, when the bell rings, the old teacher should come in and start preparing for the class.

Unfortunately, for this class, no one showed up after half a cup of tea.

Jiang Qingqing turned around and was about to look at the eldest prince when someone suddenly walked in with hurried steps.

Then a middle-aged man with an unfamiliar face walked in slowly, holding a stack of booklets.

Since the teacher didn't come into the classroom for a long time, Xiao Linting put down the book in his hand, frowned slightly and looked at the door.

Even when Xiao Linting saw the unfamiliar middle-aged man walk in, his furrowed brows still showed no sign of relaxing.

"I am so sorry. I will be teaching you today instead of Mr. Arithmetic."

Jiang Qingqing didn't think there was anything wrong with this. On weekdays, some old gentlemen would arrange substitute teachers due to physical discomfort or other reasons.

So, without any doubt, she took out her math booklet and prepared to attend the class.

The class was nowhere near getting to the point, and the substitute teacher suddenly started talking about something else.

"My last name is Xu, you can still call me Lord Xu."

Jiang Qingqing frowned at this moment.

The substitute teacher, whose surname was Xu, was never willing to get to the point of the class. He kept talking about some so-called interesting things that happened to him in his daily life, and he kept talking on and on.

She should have listened attentively, but for some reason, Jiang Qingqing didn't have much patience for this kind of person.

She even felt that the descriptions this person gave of his life were boring.

After enduring the entire class, during the break, Jiang Qingqing left her seat and walked to Xiao Linting.

"Uncle..." the little baby voice spoke cautiously.

Xiao Linting turned sideways and looked at the little girl in front of him who seemed to be hesitant to speak. He knew what she wanted to say without even trying to understand her thoughts.

"You don't like his class?"

Jiang Qingqing put the words that were about to come out of her mouth back into her heart and nodded affirmatively.

"Now we can only remind him not to talk about those things anymore. If we ask him to leave now, what will we do in the second half of the class?"

What the emperor's uncle said was true, but Jiang Qingqing just didn't like Lord Xu very much.

She lowered her head and reached out to grab Xiao Linting's sleeve.

[The emperor's uncle has changed. He used to protect me, but now he doesn't protect me anymore because of the Imperial College...]

The little boy's thoughts became more and more bizarre. When he heard the wind saying that he looked down on the royal children, Xiao Linting's dark eyes flashed with helplessness, and he rubbed the little guy's head.

Suddenly he stood up and walked towards Lord Xu who was standing in front of the stage.

Jiang Qingqing looked back and saw Xiao Linting nodding to Lord Xu, and the two of them left the Imperial College hall one after the other.

She nodded contentedly.

About half a cup of tea later, Xiao Linting turned around and came back. Looking at his expression, he looked indifferent and had no extra emotions, except when his dark eyes fell on Jiang Qingqing.

There was a hint of helplessness in his deep eyes.

This is clearly a look of doting.

But Jiang Qingqing was confused by the situation and could only see that the emperor's uncle seemed reluctant to take care of the matter and it was only because of her that he took action.

The little girl stuck out her tongue in embarrassment. As Xiao Linting passed by her desk, he reached out and rubbed her little head.

"Since you have to attend class, listen carefully and don't be distracted."

After saying this, he sat aside calmly and started reading the book in his hand again.

Jiang Qingqing turned her head to look in the direction of the emperor's uncle and saw that he was still absorbed in reading the book. She thought to herself, she didn't expect that the emperor's uncle, who was in such a high position, could still be so humble and learn other things.

Jiang Qingqing couldn't help but feel deeply moved by Xiao Linting.

As the class bell rang, Mr. Xu finally picked up his textbook and stood on the podium.

After being scolded by Prince Xiao, Lord Xu finally stopped talking about how wonderful his life was, and instead devoted himself to teaching arithmetic.

Fortunately, Jiang Qingqing can still accept the current courses and does not find it too painful to learn.

As the morning classes ended, Jiang Qingqing went to the side hall to have a meal. Just as she finished her meal and was about to take a nap on the small couch, she suddenly heard a bustle in the side hall next door.

She couldn't help but stick her head out to look over, and saw Zi Lian, the senior palace maid beside Concubine Zhao, entering the side hall holding a basket of cakes.

Only then did I suddenly remember that today was the day when Concubine Zhao delivered cakes for afternoon tea.

Jiang Qingqing thought about it, then got up from the couch, put on her shoes and socks, and went to the side hall opposite.

The students who came to the Imperial College for classes in the side hall saw the favored little princess come in and all of them focused their attention on her.

The capable students immediately surrounded Jiang Qingqing and came to the main seat in the side hall.

When Zi Lian saw the princess coming, she turned around, took the pastries handed to her by the palace servant behind her, and presented them to Jiang Qingqing with both hands.

"Your Highness, aren't you taking a nap today?" Zi Lian asked softly.

Perhaps because they had had opportunities to communicate and meet, Zi Lian gradually developed a habit of taking care of her.

Jiang Qingqing looked at the pastries that looked like jelly, and felt deeply impressed by how clever and skillful Concubine Zhao was. Even the pastries she made were so exquisite. They were almost as good as the food culture of her own time.

"I'll rest after eating." Jiang Qingqing responded briefly.

Zi Lian nodded in response, then turned around to deliver pastries to other young masters.

The lunch break went by peacefully as usual.

In the afternoon, Jiang Qingqing was still drowsy from her nap and couldn't wake up for a while. She sleepwalked all the way to the main hall of the Imperial College, sat in her seat, and nodded and dozed off like a chick pecking at rice.

Just as a burst of lively young voices came from the door of the hall, waking up the extremely sleepy Jiang Qingqing.

She looked around sleepily, rubbed her eyes with her chubby little hands, and her gaze fell on the empty space beside her. She couldn't help but feel puzzled.

At this point, it’s almost time to go to the classroom to prepare for the next class, but why is Jiang Chen still nowhere to be seen?

Just as Jiang Qingqing was about to ask the people around her if they had seen Jiang Chen, the calligraphy teacher who taught the afternoon class walked in and said only one word: "Change venue." Everyone tacitly picked up the things they needed for the calligraphy class and walked to the side hall opposite.

Although Jiang Qingqing caught up with the main group, she always felt something was wrong when she saw Jiang Chenkong's position.

Just as she walked three steps and looked back, she arrived at the calligraphy class in the side hall, and saw that the calligraphy teacher just glanced at the people in the classroom and said casually: "Since everyone is here, let's start the class."

As soon as the words fell, Jiang Qingqing suddenly had an epiphany.

It turns out that Jiang Chen noticed that the calligraphy teacher of this course was the worst at counting heads, so he skipped the class!

Skipping classes can be a minor or serious matter.

However, in Jiang Qingqing's current opinion, skipping classes is the worst behavior for people who are studying!
