Chapter 47

Chapter 47

Su Ran rushed over.

The small bag on Gengen's back kept swinging, but he had no time to pay attention to it until he stepped over two large rocks, then he realized something was wrong.

Although the man was wearing a military uniform, his features looked more mature and not as sharp as those of the colonel. He leaned against the rock wall for just a few seconds before sliding down again.

Seeing this, Su Ran rushed over without hesitation. Even though the other party was not a colonel, it seemed that his injuries were very serious and he could not delay any longer.

He took out a small piece of gauze from his backpack, cut it with scissors, and then wiped the man's face.

After the blood was wiped off, Su Ran was stunned for a moment: "...Monte?"

It was this officer who greeted the colonel when he first arrived in the Manlot area a few months ago.

But as the leader of the team, he and the colonel solved the statue mutation incident, but now, he is covered in wounds and is completely different from what he was then.

"Wait a moment." Su Ran patted his arm to comfort him. "It will stop hurting soon."

He concentrated all his attention so much that a tiny glimmer of light gathered on the tip of the leaf in just a few seconds.

The man from before hadn't lied to him. The healing power wouldn't disappear immediately. All he felt now was a little tired. At that moment, he heard footsteps, followed by another man's voice: "Are you... okay?"

Su Ran turned around and looked.

Then I saw a man with long black hair, also covered in wounds, limping out.

"We just came out from deep inside the cave," the man said. "There was a massive collapse inside."

Su Ran wrapped his roots around himself and listened carefully: "Collapse?"

"An unexpected incident caused by distorted energy can cause all objects in the cave to undergo irregular deformation." The man sighed. "In other words, some very dangerous deformations will grow further and directly threaten survival."

Su Ran looked at him in disbelief: "What about the colonel?"

"Captain Joe and he are both missing," Monte said. "This is what happened when we were exploring a lake... I'm sorry, we should have followed instead of deserting now."

After the words fell, Su Ran waved the small leaf and said quickly: "No!"

He did not think that "sacrifice" was an obligation at all. On the contrary, life was very precious to everyone and should not be discarded easily.

"Please don't blame yourself." Su Ran used the healing power again, "It's okay, I will find the colonel!"

Monte was stunned for a moment.

Then, his eyes turned red, and he held Su Ran's little leaf. While expressing his gratitude, his tone was filled with tears: "Our military should fight to the last moment. I'm so sorry, so sorry..."

Su Ran was also very sad after hearing such words.

This is different from the soldier who turned into a "tree man" before. It seems that at this moment, he feels human emotions again... What is it?

Their roses only have two emotions: "sad" and "happy", which can be easily separated.

But it seems... humans have more emotions.

"Can you tell me the exact location?" Su Ran asked.

The man next to Monte glanced at him and nodded: "Poke can locate it."

As he spoke, he put a very small chip into Su Ran's backpack. Above the chip, Su Ran saw his name - Hong Erke. Unlike Monte, he belonged to the medical team of Manlot City.

"Sorry, there's nothing we can do." Hong Erke sighed, "Given the current state of his injuries, we can't go back into the cave."

Su Ran shook his head.

Of course, this is not their problem.

But it seems that they always work hard for humanity and the whole world, which is a little different from their plant world.

"What are you going to do next?" Su Ran asked, "We're still a little distance away from the cave entrance."

"Don't worry, we'll see what happens."

Hong Erke put his military uniform on Monte, hugged him tightly, and murmured, "It's okay... It's really great."

Su Ran and Guji just looked at them.

For some reason, he felt that the relationship between Monte and Hongerko was different. To be more specific, it seemed that there was an inseparable connection between them.

But Su Ran didn't have time to figure out what it was.

—The Colonel was still waiting for him.

So Su Ran put the small gauze and scissors back into the backpack, and then put the Poker on the top of the backpack. He knew that the Poker could give him the most accurate positioning, even though Hong Erke said that this thing had not made any sound since the collapse began.

"If there is any danger, you can also contact me through Poker." Monte said to Su Ran, "We will try our best to contact the military for support."

Su Ran expressed his gratitude again.

Before walking deeper into the thick fog, he suddenly spoke, "Will the healing power... be strengthened in this cave because of the collapse?"

"Huh?" Monte looked at him. "What happened?"

Su Ran stared at it for a few seconds, shook the small flower bud, and said it was nothing.

They set off again.

According to Hong Erko, they were in the front center of the cave, a little distance away from the collapse site. They needed to walk down the hillside to a green stream below, and then follow the rock wall to a ruin at the end.

According to Su Ran's body shape, he and Guji could just fit through a ten-centimeter gap in the ruins.

And he did so.

They stepped on the bones on the ground, not knowing whether they were human, military, or other creatures. With a creaking sound, Su Ran climbed up the mountain of ruins.

He grabbed the small leaves and gently kicked his roots, again and again, slowly climbing up.

Because the healing power disappeared, his physical strength was not as good as before, and his speed was slightly slower, but it could not cover up the fact that this was happening.

——He is about to lose his healing power.

He had no strength in his body, as if he was soaked in water or suspended in air, with no foothold.

At this moment, there was a sudden click, and his small blade failed to catch the stone and fell directly down, sliding for several meters before stopping.

"Guji!" Seeing this, the little mushroom immediately followed there and supported him with its tentacles.

The tiny stone cut Su Ran's roots, and the small wound made him feel pain all over his body. At this moment, he grabbed Guji's tentacles: "I, I'm fine..."

After saying this, he did not forget to confirm his healing power. Although he was covered in wounds, Su Ran felt at ease at this moment.

Guji touched Su Ran's root stem: "Gu?"

"No, I can't use it now... I have to keep it." Su Ran struggled to stand up, "I have to wait until I find the colonel."

After saying that, he climbed up again staggeringly.

No matter whether it was the small gravel falling from the top or the countless animal limbs, Su Ran did not stop.

It was strange, he had never felt such emotions before.

It seemed hasty and urgent, and the root of this action seemed to come from the memories between them.

Su Ran as a rose cannot be described.

Every time I think about it, all I can see are the scenes from the past - every contact with the colonel, and the time we spent together. They are beautiful, and even if they are covered with dust by time, I can reach out my hand when necessary and slowly wipe away the dust.

But between him and the colonel - is it really because of memories that they are connected?

Su Ran still didn't understand.

When I came to my senses, I saw him pass through the gap and slide directly into a deeper place.

It was a cavern, covered in eerie red mushroom caps and dotted with swaying fluorescent grass. Beyond that, there were purple-green vines, twisting and turning between giant, wriggling tentacles, forming an inseparable part of the rock wall.

Su Ran looked around anxiously.

There was indeed a lake on the right, just as Hong Erke described, it was green and bubbling with small bubbles, as if some mysterious creature was lurking there, waiting for the next prey to arrive.

On the other side, there was a completely broken wall, with only a few seemingly thick dead vines hanging above it.

——It seems that there is no way out.

This cave was both huge and tiny, filled with the smell of death. Corpses of all sizes were scattered everywhere, leaving no room for hope.

However, Su Ran still walked on.

Just when he reached the middle of the hillside, he suddenly saw a slender figure leaning against the back of the lake, quietly closing his eyes.

Su Ran paused.

Even Guji didn't look where he was going and bumped into him without moving another step.

Is that... the Colonel?

As soon as this guess came out, Su Ran even stopped breathing.

It’s his commander-in-chief!

He finally found him here!

Su Ran stumbled over and in his haste, he didn't see the road clearly and rolled down the hillside.

Just as he fell to the ground, an accident happened. A sharp stone appeared in front of him.

"Guji!"

A mushroom scream came from behind.

He stretched out his tentacles, but couldn't hold Su Ran back, and rolled down with him.

Su Ran hugged the small flower bud, and just as it was about to hit the sharp rock, a burst of white light suddenly lit up! It was a soft light, and when it faded, a pale boy appeared in the cave.

His skin was covered with cuts of various sizes. He held a small backpack in his hands tightly. Even when he fell down the slope, he did not let go.

"I..." Su Ran came back to his senses. He looked down at his palm, and after confirming the shape, he simply changed it into a silk dress and hung it on his body.

Then, he looked forward again.

——It was indeed Si Chengyan.

He was not wrong when he was Little Rose, and now as a human being, he is not wrong either.

How to say it, he never mistakes that figure.

The scenes of those days and nights, the countless memories that accompanied us, just like this, are recalled bit by bit, flashing back before my eyes like a movie.

Just a few nights ago, they were in the deep woods and out of any danger.

But now when they met in this cave, Su Ran felt as if several years had passed, as if they had just met a long time ago.

A delicate little rose, while searching for the nutrient beads for her growth, met the most powerful commander in the base.

They should have stayed at the base, in the new city, the old city, or any place that could be called "home".

But now… everything that happened here was so strange that he couldn't accept it.

Su Ran almost fell over.

Even though the red mushroom caps bit his ankles and the sharp grass scarred his skin, he did not feel any pain.

In just a few seconds, he seemed to understand this emotion.

They didn't get to where they are today by relying on memories at all.

Those days and nights were the best evidence that the bond between him and the colonel was not held together by such a flimsy thing.

Su Ran untied Si Chengyan's uniform and wanted to check the wound.

He didn't know whether the colonel could hear him, but as a rose, he was very happy that Si Chengyan was alive.

At this moment, some dark shadows gathered from behind them and flowed down from the gaps in the vines - they overlapped not far away and gradually became irregular shadows.

They gathered quietly and became huge in an instant.

But Su Ran didn't notice all this. He was so focused that he was breathing heavily when using the healing power.

With his efforts, Si Chengyan slowly opened his eyes. After a moment of confusion, he saw this handsome young man standing beside him, holding his arm, looking very anxious - and when he woke up, his eyes were covered with a layer of mist again.

"Su Ran..."

Hearing the familiar voice, the boy trembled.

After a few seconds, he bit his lip and replied, "I am."

Su Ran's thoughts were in great confusion at the moment - he was happy because he finally found the colonel, but for some reason, the fear and grievances he had felt along the way seemed to need an outlet, weighing on him and making it impossible to breathe.

He really searched for a long time.

I'm even afraid that what I'll see is just a cold corpse.

But Su Ran did not show such emotion.

"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid anymore..." He raised his hand and stroked the scars on the other person's body caused by the monster's bite - just like when he was scared by the thunder before, the other person comforted him.

After a few seconds, he spoke again softly: "Let's go home together, okay?"

Then, Su Ran felt his hand being clenched.

Their body temperatures touched directly, and Su Ran met those icy blue eyes. After a few seconds, he heard the other person's voice fall into his ear: "Well, go home."

The author has something to say:
