Chapter Twenty-One

Chapter Twenty-One

Ye Yin took a deep drag, the smoke swirling inside his body before rushing out, cutting his throat.

Even my nasal cavity was scraped sorely.

With the lingering smoke still in his chest, he took another deep drag, trying to make the sparks burn longer so as to attract the attention of the person across the street.

An hour ago, Teng Zhi got out of the car, and Ye Yin didn't linger and quickly left the parking lot.

But at one of the intersections, he turned and drove in the opposite direction from home.

He made up the excuse of "collecting clothes" to cover up his momentary lapse of judgment.

He told himself that Yang Jiawen knew which outfits he had taken with him when he went out. If he went back and found out that one outfit was missing, he would have to come up with an excuse to cover it up, which would be troublesome. It would be better to make an extra trip to the guesthouse to retrieve the clothes that were drying there.

On the way, Ye Yin received a call from Yang Jiawen, asking when he would be home. Ye Yin said he had to go talk to his older sister and would be back later.

Yang Jiawen happened to be going to her parents' house for dinner tonight, and she mentioned that her mother had made black-eyed pea and pork bone soup, asking her to bring it back for him to drink.

Ye Yin verbally agreed with "okay," but in his mind he was thinking, "Teng Zhi will definitely be furious with him this time."

He must regret it. He acted impulsively and did that without thinking.

Yeah, it felt great, my dick was all erect.

But it was still wrong, and when Tengzhi got off the bus, he didn't even say "bye-bye".

The apartment's access card was in Teng Zhi's hands. Ye Yin waited in the parking lot for a few minutes before following the other residents into the building's elevator.

He hadn't cleared his chat history with Teng Zhi yet, and the password for the apartment's electronic lock was still in it. He easily entered the door after a few beeps.

Everything was just as it was when they left yesterday morning; the wind was strong and fierce on the high-rise building, making the clothes hanging on the balcony sway left and right.

Across several lanes, the high-rise residential buildings across the street were brightly lit, and there were arrow marks that Teng Zhi had made on the balcony railings. Ye Yin bent down, his gaze sweeping across several lanes, and found the general direction.

The kitchen light was off at Tengzhi's house; she probably hadn't come home yet.

Ye Yin put away all the clothes, and even folded Teng Zhi's set himself.

Her style of dress is very simple, always the same jeans and T-shirts, with only the pattern on the T-shirt and the color of the jeans changing. But Ye Yin noticed a couple of days ago that this girl's underwear style is a bit sexy.

Without padding or underwire, the thin black lace, like a raven feather, wrapped around her fullness. The straps were only an inch wide, and although they provided some support, after supporting those two heavy breasts all day, faint red marks would still appear on her white shoulders by night.

Even if you pinch with just a little force, it will leave a mark.

He stared blankly for a while, thinking about the little woman who had been silently adjusting her bra in his car not long ago.

He almost made her cry; her hands were trembling so much, yet as she pushed open the car door to get out, she still managed to softly say, "Thank you for your company these past few days."

Ye Yin slapped himself again.

Teng Zhi was right. All sorts of complex emotions piled up and mixed into a tangled impulse, constantly pushing them until they all crossed the line.

But because it was driven by impulse and desire, other emotions seemed insincere.

Even asking "When are we going to meet next?" feels like having ulterior motives.

He's not a seventeen or eighteen-year-old anymore; he should calm down and think carefully about what he wants.

Also, what does Tengzhi want?

Ye Yin took the ashtray, went out onto the balcony, and leaned against the railing to smoke.

One cigarette after another, until a layer of ash accumulated in the ashtray, the small square suddenly lit up.

My heart skipped a beat.

Someone walked into the kitchen, but due to the distance, Ye Yin could only see the outline of the person and could not make out any more details.

He used his phone camera to zoom in, and although the image was blurry, he could tell that the person was not Teng Zhi.

Li Tiancheng probably came into the kitchen to get some water and left quickly. Ye Yin cursed at him a few times as he watched, and continued to wait.

The traffic light downstairs changed several times before Tengzhi finally arrived.

The cigarette in his mouth burned rapidly, and the text in the WeChat typing box increased and decreased. Ye Yin hadn't decided what to say first. Should he ask her if everything was going well, or apologize to her first?

Unexpectedly, he received Teng Zhi's message first.

Are you currently at a guesthouse?

Ye Yin paused slightly, then quickly replied, "You saw me?"

"I can't see, it's so dark over there. I can only see sparks. Are you smoking?"

"Yes, it's me."

Teng Zhi's hands trembled slightly: "What are you doing here?"

Ye Yin glanced across the street, put his cigarette between his teeth, and typed in a muffled voice: "Come and collect the laundry."

He then asked, "How are things on your end?"

"It's alright, everything's fine for now. Are you going home after you collect the laundry?"

Ye Yin raised an eyebrow. What does "temporarily" mean?

He replied, "yjw isn't home, I'll be back later. Where's ltc?"

"He went to take a shower."

Teng Zhi thought for a moment, then walked to the door and peeked inside. She could vaguely hear water running from the bathroom before returning to the sink to send a message: "I'm meeting with Lawyer Wang tomorrow morning to confirm the agreement. I'll pack my things while he's at the company. My brother and sister-in-law are coming up the day after tomorrow, so we're tentatively talking to him tonight."

"Okay, tell me before you start talking, and I'll try to stay in sync with you."

Tengzhi sent an "Mm" emoji, unsure of what else to say.

The "typing" indicator on the dialog box stayed lit for a long time, but I didn't receive any new messages.

She squinted at the opposite side; perhaps the smoke had burned to the end, and the embers had gone out.

Then zoom out the phone camera lens to its furthest point.

The image was a blurry mess, and nothing could be seen clearly.

Just then, the sound of slippers slid out from outside the kitchen, and Tengzhi quickly put away her phone.

Li Tiancheng walked in: "Hmm? Why are you still in the kitchen?"

"I was just checking the things in the fridge." Teng Zhi waved the beverage bottle in her hand. "There's only one bottle of oolong tea left. Have you been drinking a lot these past few days? When I left on Friday, there seemed to be five or six bottles left in the fridge."

"Oh, right, it's been hot these past few days, so I always carry a bottle with me and keep it in the car to drink," Li Tiancheng said without changing his expression.

"Do you like this one? I'm going to the supermarket tomorrow, and if I like it, I'll keep buying this brand."

"It's alright, buy it if you like." Li Tiancheng carried the dirty clothes to the small balcony next door. "Can the washing machine be turned on?"

"Yes, I've already poured in the laundry detergent, just open it."

After her husband left, Teng Zhi took a deep breath and took the opportunity to clear her WeChat chat history with Ye Yin.

I opened my phone, then paused for a moment.

Ye Yin just sent me a few voice messages.

Her husband was on the small balcony just a wall away, and could come over at any time.

My heart felt like a goldfish in a hot spring, so hot from the water that it just wanted to jump out.

Reason couldn't stop the impulse. Teng Zhi pressed "play" and quickly put the phone to her ear.

Ye Yin's voice sounded even deeper than usual on the phone.

He said he was truly sorry about the parking lot incident.

He said that if I need to contact him, I can call him anytime.

He said the weather forecast predicted rain tomorrow, so he brought all the clothes down from the balcony.

He said, "Tengzhi, everything will be alright."

Teng Zhi listened to the whole thing, and then listened to the last sentence twice more.

Ye Yin stared at it for a long time, until his eyes started to ache.

Suddenly the warm yellow squares dimmed, and he lost his target.

Fortunately, I received a message on my phone. Tengzhi said, "May everything go smoothly for you too."
