Chapter 204: People's Hearts Are Yellow

Chapter 204: People's Hearts Are Yellow

The sky gradually brightened, and a pale sky appeared in the east.

The cold air wrapped in frost condensed on the dead branches in the corner of the yard, and the grass in the cracks between the bricks was covered with a thin layer of frost. Overnight, the weather became even colder.

Wen Zhu entered Xiesongzhai early in the morning. There was no one at the door of the main house, and the guards were waiting under the corridor far away.

As soon as she entered the yard, a maid came out of the room carrying a copper basin.

After a while, Pei Jing also came out. The collar of his dark uniform was tied meticulously. The gloom in the corners of his eyes and brows had disappeared, and he looked very proud.

Wen Zhu was slightly stunned.

The prince is in such high spirits. I don’t know how the young lady coaxed him last night. It’s hard not to feel uneasy that he was coaxed into this state.

"Your Highness, I greet you." Wen Zhu knelt on one knee.

The yard was quiet. Pei Jing frowned at the powerful voice. He subconsciously glanced towards the bedroom and walked to the other side.

"Come here."

Wen Zhu stood up and followed, swallowing his saliva.

Yesterday, the prince was so preoccupied with the young lady that he had no time to settle accounts. Today is the time to settle the accounts.

After walking about ten feet, Pei Jing stopped and said, "Tell me everything that happened yesterday from beginning to end."

Wen Zhu nodded and said, "Your Highness, Wei Ciying invited the young lady to meet a few days ago, so I..."

Wen Zhu explained that he had discussed all of his words with Jiang Fei in advance. He didn't know whether the prince would believe him. He hoped that the prince could think more slowly under the influence of Miss Jiang Er.

Pei Jing was listening attentively. Duan Jiu just walked in at this moment. Pei Jing glanced at him, and Duan Jiu consciously stood next to Wen Zhu.

Pei Jing didn't say anything after hearing this. Duan Jiu then asked, "How does Prince Wei Mingzhen plan to deal with this?"

Pei Jing's eyes turned cold. "He has repeatedly tested my bottom line. There is no need to keep him."

Duan Jiu's heart trembled, "When will the prince take action?"

Pei Jing's gaze drifted towards the bedroom. His tense jaw softened a little, and his tone softened a bit. "I can't leave now. Let's talk after she wakes up."

Wen Zhu didn't know what he was thinking about, and he grabbed Duan Jiu's arm excitedly. Duan Jiu grimaced in pain, but he could only grit his teeth and endure it.

At this moment, a maid came running over and whispered, "My Lord, the young lady has woken up."

The coldness in Pei Jing's body disappeared in an instant, and he left Wen Zhu and Duan Jiu and walked towards the bedroom.

Just as the maid was about to catch up, Wen Zhu pulled her back and asked, "Where did the prince sleep last night? Was he covered with one quilt or two?"

Duan Jiu made a "tsk" sound, and spoke righteously on the surface, but his ear moved closer.

The maid naturally didn't dare to tell her masters what was going on in their rooms, so she just said, "Sister, please don't embarrass me."

Wen Zhu immediately said, "I can call you sister, but just tell me quietly, did you boil water last night?"

The maidservant was annoyed by her pestering and smiled with pursed lips, the meaning of which was somewhat self-evident.

Wen Zhu understood it immediately and raised his hand to hit Duan Jiu on the back.

"Cough cough!" Duan Jiu coughed up a lot from the sudden blow. He turned around and glared at her, "Why did you hit me?"

Wen Zhu was too preoccupied with regret to bother paying attention to him. She angrily said, "Damn it! I shouldn't have gone to bed last night. I should have climbed up on the roof and waited!"

The more she thought about it, the more regretful she became. "I never thought that the young lady would go to such great lengths and make such great sacrifices just to avoid having us kneel as punishment and to appease the prince..."

Before she could finish her words, her ear was grabbed. Duan Jiu said, "You're a girl, what kind of mess do you have in your head all day long?"

"Let go, let go!" Wen Zhu broke free from him and said confidently, "I don't have to think about it. Should I just do it?"

Duan Jiu was stunned by the question. He touched his chin and thought for a moment before nodding, "Then... you should think about it."

When Pei Jing lifted the curtain and went in, Jiang Fei had already stood up and was trembling as she put on her clothes. Her fingers were shaking for a long time but she couldn't tie them.

"I'll help you."

Pei Jing walked over and offered to help.

As soon as he stretched out his hand, Jiang Fei shrank back.

She pulled her clothes closer to her, and when she looked up at him, there was a hint of redness at the corners of her eyes. She didn't speak to him, but just kept struggling with her belt.

Pei Jing certainly knew why she was upset.

He knew he was in the wrong, so he sat down beside her and said submissively, "Last night... I wasn't restrained enough. I won't do that again."

Jiang Fei moved to the side, and as soon as she moved, she hissed.

Pei Jing was so anxious that he was at a loss. "Does it hurt? Let me take a look."

"What the hell are you looking at!" Jiang Fei cursed and finally tied her clothes.

"Let me take a look, then I'll feel at ease." Pei Jing had never spoken in such a soft tone in his life.

Jiang Fei didn't buy his story. "You said you'd just wait and see last night, but what happened? You just kept waiting and then..."

This bastard was not a human being last night. She imagined that the first night should be gentle and affectionate. It was okay at first, worthy of the word gentle, but it turned out to be a storm afterwards.

If she had known this would happen, she would not have let him go to bed!

The more Jiang Fei thought about it, the angrier she became. She grabbed the soft pillow next to her and threw it at Pei Jing, "You liar!"

I lied to her and told her to be gentler, saying it was the last time, but none of what I said was true.

Pei Jing didn't dodge or evade. After taking the blow, he put the soft pillow back in its place and softened his voice to coax her, "It's my fault. Does it still hurt?"

Jiang Fei's face flushed red, and she glared at him and said, "What do you care? I want to go back to the Jiang family."

"No." Pei Jing frowned and grabbed her hand, saying, "I was wrong. You can hit me or scold me, but you can't go back."

"It takes a lot of energy to hit you," Jiang Fei broke free from his hand, "If I stay here any longer, I'll end up in your hands sooner or later."

Pei Jing's face suddenly turned red, spreading from his ears to his neck.

The images of last night came flooding back uncontrollably: her soft figure in his arms, her biting her lip and moaning softly, him pestering her until late at night, and him clinging to her without letting go...

Those burning memories made his throat tighten, and even his voice became hoarse: "I..."

"What about me?" Jiang Fei glared at him.

"I promise that I will never be so indulgent again." Pei Jing looked at Jiang Fei helplessly, like a child who had done something wrong.

After last night, Jiang Fei would not be fooled by him.

"Who would believe your promise? You said the same thing last night, but when I nodded, you turned around and..."

She didn't say the rest of the words, but her cheeks were burning so badly that she simply turned her face away and ignored him.

Pei Jing was speechless. Looking at her flushed face and tightly pursed lips, he felt like he was being scratched by a cat.

Seeing her angry and embarrassed expression, Pei Jing's panic suddenly dissipated, and he felt an inexplicable sweetness instead.

He ignored her struggles and held her wrist, holding her in his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head: "It's me who's the bastard, don't be angry."

Jiang Fei wasn't actually very annoyed. She just felt a little embarrassed when she thought about the absurdity of last night. But seeing him look like a nervous big dog who had done something wrong, her anger subsided a lot.

"I'm hungry." She said sullenly, giving an excuse.

Pei Jing's eyes lit up, as if he had been pardoned, and he quickly asked the maid to bring in food.

Jiang Fei didn't even get out of bed, but placed a low table on the bed.

After dinner, Pei Jing tucked the corner of Jiang Fei's quilt and said, "Sleep a little longer? I'm going out to do something and will be back soon."

Jiang Fei raised her eyes to look at him, "Where are you going?"
