Chapter 26 Urgent Mission

Chapter 26 Urgent Mission

As soon as Jiang Fei came back from the palace, she threw herself on the bed and lay half dead.

My mind was in a mess with what had happened in the past few days, and I was thinking about how to clean up the mess.

But the situation was too messy, and she racked her brains but couldn't figure out how to end it.

This went on until dawn, when the system prompt sounded in my head again.

Jiang Fei didn't want to say a word now. This system was too bad and it kept disconnecting.

If the system could provide real-time notification like other systems, she would have known at that time that she had recognized the wrong person and would not have strayed further and further from completing the task.

System: "Here I am again."

Jiang Fei half-lowered her eyes and showed no reaction.

Seeing that she didn't respond, the system raised its voice again: "Host, urgent task!"

"What?"

Jiang Fei finally moved. In this damn book world, one task hasn’t been completed yet, and another task is coming?

"Hehe, just kidding." The system said happily.

Jiang Fei closed her eyes weakly, wondering if she could still laugh after the system learned the truth.

The system must be in a good mood today, even its voice is cheerful: "Host, do you want to check Wei Mingzhen's favorability towards you?"

"No." Jiang Fei said weakly, "I suggest you don't watch it either, otherwise your blood pressure might rise."

The system had an ominous premonition and quickly called up the interface. Then Jiang Fei heard the system say "Wow".

"Wei Mingzhen's favorability towards you has actually increased by 98 points, currently at -2917."

"What?" Jiang Fei sat up from the bed.

Even after yesterday's situation, Wei Mingzhen's favorability towards her still increased. Is this a sign of moral decline or a distortion of human nature?

Jiang Fei rekindled her hope, "What about Pei Jing? How much do you think of me?"

System: "Increased by two points, 14."

Jiang Fei breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, it only increased by two points, and there was still hope of turning it into a negative number.

After yesterday, Jiang Fei's acceptance has greatly increased. There is nothing more terrifying than reconciling her fiancé with a crazy person.

The next morning, Jiang Fei became full of fighting spirit again. After washing up and having breakfast, she went to the old lady's place.

Yao and several aunts have already arrived, and they all came to pay their respects to the old lady.

No one knew what was being discussed in the room, but everyone had a serious expression.

As soon as Jiang Rufei entered the room, Second Aunt Cui immediately put on a smile and said, "Rufei is here."

"Greetings to grandma, mother and aunts." Jiang Fei bowed politely.

The old lady beckoned, "Come and sit down. How was the palace banquet yesterday?"

Jiang Fei briefly explained, and Yao's face turned pale. "I personally went to your courtyard to look for you last night. Seeing that you went to bed so early, I thought you were very busy. Who knew that you only knew how to eat and drink? Such a good opportunity, but you didn't know how to make friends. It's really..."

As stupid as a pig, Yao swallowed the last few words.

Jiang Fei knew that Yao was trying to use this as an excuse to stir up trouble, so she quickly bowed her head and admitted her mistake. "Mother is teaching me that this is my first time in the palace, and I was only concerned with being cautious in my words and actions. I was indeed negligent."

Cui immediately smiled and tried to smooth things over, "Don't be angry, sister-in-law. Rufei is young and it's natural for her to be nervous about entering the palace for the first time. If it were us, we wouldn't be much better than her."

Yao's face became even gloomier. She lectured her daughter, asking why the second wife was pretending to be the good person.

The old lady was used to it and coughed, "Alright, this is Ru Fei's first time in the palace, it's rare for her to not make any mistakes."

"Thank you, Grandmother." Jiang Fei had always been liked by her elders since she was a child, mainly because of her sweet words. "Yesterday wasn't completely fruitless. I had a very pleasant conversation with the young lady from Dingyuan Marquis's Mansion."

The old lady agreed, "It would be a good idea to establish good relations with the people in Dingyuan Marquis' Mansion in advance."

Jiang Fei nodded obediently, remembering the worried expressions of everyone when she entered the room. She felt that something must be wrong.

"When I came here just now, I saw that Grandma looked very serious. What's the matter?"

The old lady was about to talk about this when she sighed and said, "I heard that Princess Anping accidentally fell into the water before leaving home yesterday and had a miscarriage."

The teacup in Jiang Fei's hand shook, and the tea splashed on the hem of her skirt.

She looked up in shock, "What? How is this possible?"

Cui continued, "How could this be such a coincidence? I almost fell into the water before and was saved by Rufei. I thought I had escaped a disaster, but who knew I would fall into the water again in my own house? Don't you think this is fate?"

"Yes." Third Aunt Wang also said, "It's really pitiful. Princess Anping has been married for several years and finally got pregnant, but who knew she couldn't keep the baby. The eldest princess didn't attend the Queen's birthday banquet because of this."

Jiang Fei held the teacup, her mind in a mess.

At the palace banquet yesterday, she was completely stunned by Pei Jing and didn't even notice whether the eldest princess and Princess Anping were there.

What she couldn't understand at the moment was how Princess Anping could have fallen into the water again? Logically, after learning that she was pregnant, she should have been more careful.

The old lady saw that Jiang Fei looked unhappy and asked, "Ru Fei, what's wrong?"

Jiang Fei put down the teacup and said, "It's okay. I just didn't expect something like this to happen. I feel a little sorry."

Yao looked at Jiang Rufei and said, "You saved the princess before. Why not take this opportunity to visit her and strengthen our relationship?"

Jiang Fei's eyes flashed with displeasure, "I'm afraid this is inappropriate. The princess just had a miscarriage and is in the most heartbreaking time. It's not appropriate to ask her to cheer up and meet guests."

"This is timely assistance."

"I'm afraid not." Jiang Fei hated the Yao family's behavior and her words became even harsher. "Going now will only make people think you're taking advantage of the opportunity to get close to them."

"You——!" Yao was furious.

She was thinking about Jiang Rufei, but she kept interrupting her. She really didn't know what was good for her!

Jiang Fei continued, "When the princess feels better, I will go visit her again."

"That's fine." The old lady agreed. "I'll have someone prepare some gifts, and you can bring them over when the time comes."

Jiang Fei agreed, sat for a while and then left.

She remembered that in the book, Princess Anping closed her door to visitors after she had a miscarriage. She was unable to get over her grief for a long time and even considered becoming a nun.

Later, Princess Anping went to Jinglian Temple in the suburbs of Beijing and tried to become a nun but failed. She brought back a lotus from the temple and kept it, saying that it was to pray for the soul of her unborn child. Only then did she feel better.

Jiang Fei thought about it and realized that Princess Anping had everything she needed. Instead of giving her things she didn’t need, it would be better to help her ask for the lotus.

After everyone left, Jiang Fei told the old lady about inviting Lian, and the old lady agreed very much.

Just tell her that Jinglian Temple is different from other temples. The lotus flowers in Jinglian Temple are hard to come by, so it may not be easy to get some, but it is always possible to try.

Jinglian Temple is located on Tingquan Mountain, fifty miles outside Beijing.

Jiang Fei set out from the city early in the morning and arrived at the foot of Tingquan Mountain in the evening.

Jinglian Temple is located halfway up Tingquan Mountain. There is no driveway leading up the mountain, only a stone-paved mountain path where you can walk up the mountain.

There is a small market at the foot of the mountain. Farmers from nearby come to the market every three, six, and nine days. There is also a simple inn that provides a temporary rest for servants who come to pick up and drop off guests. Horses and vehicles are parked in a thatched shed.

When Jiang Fei was riding by, she noticed a simple horse-drawn carriage in the straw shed, and the coachman was untying the carriage.

The reason why he noticed it was because the carriage was really special. It looked very simple in appearance, but even an amateur like Jiang Fei could tell that the horses pulling the carriage were top-quality horses.

It must be some nobleman who wanted to hide his identity. It seems that the man has gone up the mountain.
