Chapter 286 001 & Main System 1

Chapter 286 001 & Main System 1

001 felt a little nauseous when he got off the shuttle.

She had just finished a mission in a world line, and of course, the result, as expected, ended in failure.

As she walked into the DLC building, people around her immediately looked at her strangely.

She knew why. Because she had connections, she could stay safely in the DLC even though she was at the bottom of every assessment and failed every mission.

As for her relationship with the big guy at the top of the DLC pyramid, she defines this relationship as friends.

Regardless of the looks from those around him, 001 took the elevator to the 101st floor.

As soon as the elevator door opened, one of the main system's secretaries came up to greet them with a serious expression.

"You're finally here." The secretary lowered his voice, "He's losing his temper. Be careful."

001 was a little timid, mainly because he felt guilty, "How about... I come back another day?"

She couldn't remember how many times she had failed in her mission. Every time she failed, her functions would be disabled. Now it seemed like she was just a calculator.

If even this feature is disabled, she won't be able to figure out how to manage her expenses next month.

The secretary looked at her quietly without saying anything.

After a while, 001's shoulders slumped, and he resigned himself to knocking on the door of the main system office with his head down.

A deep "Come in" came from inside.

There's not even a "please"; it's really arrogant, but he has the capital to be arrogant.

001 Pushing open the door, one is greeted by an open space with a height of nearly ten meters. A black curved office desk is reflected on the cool white walls, and a light blue data strip is suspended in the air.

A figure was slumped behind the curved desk, the lines of his profile as cold and hard as if chiseled. Even the look in his eyes as he looked at the data screen was devoid of warmth. The cold white light from top to bottom coated his outline with a layer of frost.

It can be seen that he is in a very bad mood. After 001 came in, he didn't even look at her, but just raised his hand slightly to signal her to wait.

Because there is no shared light screen, 001 cannot see what he sees.

I only saw his hands casually placed on the table, speaking to the void in that unique, flat voice:

"The plan has three loopholes. Do you want me to dismantle them word by word?"

The office fell silent. The main system tapped lightly on the desk. "Energy loss rate in the third quarter decreased by another 0.3%."

"I want solutions, not explanations."

His voice grew even colder. "This time tomorrow, I want to see a new plan."

The light blue data stream entwined and dispersed around his fingertips, making his profile look even colder.

001 noticed that he was unconsciously rubbing the little finger of his left hand, which was his signature gesture of extreme impatience.

"The meeting is adjourned."

The moment the last two words fell, all data streams in the air suddenly disappeared.

The main system finally switched to 001. The silver-rimmed lenses on his nose reflected a cold light, making it difficult to see his eyes. "One hundred and ninth failure. Mission completion rate: 17 percent."

001 subconsciously stood up straight, "This time it's an improvement... Last time it was only 15%."

The main system did not look up, but lightly stroked the air with its slender fingers, and streams of data changed and reorganized, condensing into the glaring word "failure".

"Progress? In three months, you reduced your host's grade from 50 to 120. That's called progress?"

001 shrank his neck, his fingertips circling the edge of his clothes as he whispered in defense, "But the host doesn't like studying at all. He just likes drawing. I can't force him to do anything."

Just as he was about to say that, he saw the main system's fingertips pause, and the data stream shook violently, as if it was laughing out of anger.

"It seems you are determined to test my patience." He slowly stood up and walked closer step by step. The data stream gathered into an ice-shaped vortex behind him.

"You know what? Every time I clean up your mess, it takes me three days of energy."

He was so tall that 001 had to look up at him.

001 was forced back by him, his back against the cold wall.

He leaned very close, his breath carrying the scent of cold mint. "Tell me, what should I do with you this time?"

001 clenched his hands and said pitifully, "My only function left is a calculator. I need it when I buy things."

He sighed helplessly, "Why not dismantle you into an energy source? That should be enough to make up for the loss this time."

001 took a breath, "Given our relationship, it shouldn't be that serious."

"What is our relationship?" The main system walked to the sofa and sat down, leaning lazily into the sofa, crossing its legs and waiting for her answer.

001 thought for a while, "You promised the professor that you would take care of me, and you also said that we were friends, we..."

Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by the main system. "I don't think our friendship would allow me to keep you alive after you've failed your mission 109 times."

001 was completely speechless, because she even felt that what the main system said made sense.

She stood awkwardly in the huge office, looking small, pitiful and aggrieved.

The main system turned its face away and remained silent for a long time before saying, "I'll give you one last chance."

001's eyes lit up, "What's the mission this time?"

If she hadn't been so excited at the time, if she had looked more closely, she would have been able to see the gleam in the amber eyes behind the silver-rimmed glasses.

Unfortunately she didn't, she was so happy that she got a little carried away.

This was the 110th mission 001 took on, but what she didn't expect was that it was also her first mission.

The host traveled to the book as a child, with the mission of preventing the second male lead in the book from turning evil.

However, due to an operational error of 001, the host was sent back to the modern era, resulting in the failure of the mission.

However, many years later, the second male lead completely turned evil, and the female lead was unexpectedly reborn, causing the world line to be on the verge of collapse, and a way to remedy the situation must be found.

After hearing this, 001 felt even more confused.

She had never taken on such a complicated task before, and every time she did, it ended in failure. Did the main system think too highly of her?

The main system saw through her thoughts at a glance and said, "You can also choose to resign now. Just hand over the energy loss before leaving."

Resign?

The word flashed in 001's mind for a moment and then disappeared immediately.

She knew that the energy loss she caused would take her about 10 years of working until she was 200 years old to pay off, and if she quit her job, she might starve to death.

"I'll take it!"

001 seemed to hear the main system chuckle lightly, but when she looked over, he still had that cold, indifferent expression on his face, as if he was calculating everything and asking for a beating.

"But I have to warn you."

"What?"

The main system lowered its legs and casually pointed its fingertips. A dense network of warning signs appeared in the air. "The world of this mission has developed independent consciousness due to the heroine's rebirth."

001 stared at the scarlet warning signs and swallowed. "So?"

"So..." The main system suddenly smiled meaningfully, "You might meet some 'old friends'."

He deliberately emphasized the three words "old friend", which made 001 feel a chill down his spine.

Before she could ask, he waved at her, "Come here."

001 had just moved forward slowly when his hand was grabbed by the main system.

(This was written before I accepted the task from the system and fell into the pit)
