Chapter 35 Hug the Boar

Chapter 35 Hug the Boar

Without waiting for Jiang Fei to react, Pei Jing bent down and picked her up sideways.

Jiang Fei subconsciously grabbed his collar and whispered, "You can actually carry me on your back."

She always felt that the princess hug was much more ambiguous than carrying someone on her back.

"It's not your turn to be picky," Pei Jing said coldly as he carried her forward, "I won't turn my back on anyone."

After walking a distance, he said again: "You are so heavy."

"Not as heavy as you." Jiang Fei said weakly, "Do you know how much effort it took me to drag you that far?"

Pei Jing glanced down at her and said, "You are lighter than a wild boar."

Jiang Fei smiled with difficulty, "You've even held a wild boar before."

Pei Jing lifted her up and said, "Hold one now."

Jiang Fei curled her lips and stopped talking. She really didn't have the energy to argue with him anymore. Her body was swaying with the bumps and her head was a little dizzy.

After a while, she tentatively leaned her head slowly on Pei Jing's shoulder. She would not be at odds with her body, and it was much more comfortable to lean on him this way.

Pei Jing paused, lowered his eyes to glance at her, and seeing that her face was as pale as paper, he swallowed back the words that were about to come out.

Jiang Fei's slightly distracted eyes fell on Pei Jing's clear and sharp jaw. She thought vaguely that this man was harsh in his words, but his embrace was unexpectedly warm and reliable.

Coincidentally, if she had not rescued Pei Jing and left him to fend for himself in the forest, she would have no fire to keep warm, no way to use fire to drive away wild animals, and Pei Jing would not have taken her down the mountain.

This may be the cause and effect that Buddha talked about. The good deeds she did saved her life.

After walking for a while, Pei Jing suddenly stopped and said, "I'm here."

Jiang Fei listened carefully and heard faint shouts amid the rustling sound of the wind blowing through the treetops. She had to once again admire Pei Jing's hearing ability.

Pei Jing placed Jiang Fei on a wet stone, raised his hand and blew a whistle, and soon a chirping sound came from the forest in response.

Pei Jing looked in the direction of the echo and stretched out his hand towards her.

Jiang Fei stared at the palm spread out in front of her, then slowly placed her hand on it.

Pei Jing frowned and turned around. Seeing her grabbing his hand, he shook it off. "What are you doing?"

"Aren't you going to pull me up?" Jiang Fei looked innocent.

"Bring it here."

"What?" Jiang Fei looked confused.

"This is my robe," Pei Jing raised an eyebrow. "Why, are you used to wearing it? Are you reluctant to return it?"

Jiang Fei then remembered that she was still wearing his clothes and quickly took them off.

Several guards in tight clothes had already pushed aside the bushes and came through the forest.

Duan Jiu, the leader, was obviously relieved when he saw Pei Jing. "I finally found you. Is the prince injured?"

"No problem."

Pei Jing replied indifferently, raised his hand and pulled back the half of the outer robe in Jiang Fei's hand. Jiang Fei staggered by the sudden movement and hurriedly held onto the tree trunk beside him.

Duan Jiu looked at Jiang Fei hesitantly, "Second Miss Jiang..."

"No need to ask." Pei Jing threw his outer robe to Duan Jiu expressionlessly, took the clothes handed to him by the guard and put them on, saying, "Send two people to take her back to Jinglian Temple."

After saying this, he walked quickly in the direction the guards came from.

Duan Jiu quickly pointed at a few people to escort Jiang Fei, and he himself caught up with Pei Jing, "Is the prince sick again?"

Pei Jing didn't respond, and silence represented the answer.

He was silent for a moment, then suddenly asked, "If a conscious person and an unconscious person encounter a pack of wolves, how should the conscious person escape?"

"Of course, we use the unconscious person as bait." Duan Jiu answered without hesitation, then realized something and his face changed slightly. "Your Highness is saying... Miss Jiang Er..."

Pei Jing's eyes were as dark as ink, and his fingertips twirled unconsciously, "She could have left me behind and escaped alone."

She could have just left him there to fend for himself, but she still took great pains to drag him into a crevice to shelter from the rain.

She could have used him as bait to escape unscathed, but she still used her thin arms to block the wolves.

And it was clear that she had almost died at his hands just a moment ago.

Should we say that such a person is stupid or smart?

Duan Jiu knew what his master was thinking and reported what had happened after Pei Jing disappeared. "The prince's disappearance has alarmed the emperor..."

Pei Jing paused but did not interrupt.

Duan Jiu continued, "Last night, the Emperor sent Lieutenant Liu to lead the Northern Army to search the mountain."

Pei Jing frowned, "He came in person?"

"The Emperor didn't come."

His frown gradually relaxed and Pei Jing continued to move forward.

Duan Jiu followed behind him and hesitated for a moment before speaking: "It was a letter sent by Master Qinglian."

Pei Jing's steps gradually slowed down, and his whole body showed a subtle stiffness.

Two guards carried Jiang Fei and ran very fast in the woods.

The guards were all men, and they didn't dare to carry her on their backs or hug her, so they cut down some trees and tied them together to make a simple chair to carry her.

Modern people don’t bind their feet, so Jiang Fei actually doesn’t mind them carrying their feet on their backs. After all, it is normal to give artificial respiration if someone is drowning.

Soon, two figures appeared in front.

Pei Jing ran so fast before that Jiang Fei thought he had already returned, but she didn't expect that he would be caught up by them so quickly.

He left before she had a chance to say thank you. Jiang Fei wanted to add a thank you, but just as she was about to open her mouth, she saw that Pei Jing's shoulders were extremely tense, like a fully drawn bow.

Even at a short distance, Jiang Fei could still feel the cold aura emanating from him.

The guards around also felt it and fell silent.

This atmosphere continued until we walked out of the forest. The view in front of us gradually opened up, and the houses of Jinglian Temple were sparsely located on the mountainside.

Several monks and nuns were standing in front of the temple. When they saw Pei Jing, they hurried forward and saluted, "Amitabha! Your Majesty is blessed by heaven."

Pei Jing continued to move forward without saying a word. Several monks and nuns did not dare to stop him and quickly moved to the sides, revealing the people blocking the way behind him.

She was a woman wearing a plain monk's robe, with only a green jade lotus hairpin in her hair. She was standing quietly on the stone steps in front of the nunnery. She was the Qinglian laywoman that Jiang Fei had met.

Pei Jing's footsteps suddenly stopped.

Jiang Fei clearly saw his pupils suddenly shrink, and his whole body seemed to be frozen.

The pair of eyes that always contained sneers now revealed shock that was difficult to conceal, and the hands at his sides slowly clenched into fists.

Mr. Qinglian's indifferent gaze fell on Pei Jing's trembling hands, then slowly moved up, glanced at his face, turned around and returned to Jinglian Temple without saying a word.

Jiang Fei clearly saw Pei Jing's shoulders slowly drooping, as if his spine had been pulled out, and his whole body showed a kind of dejection he had never had before.

He stood where he was, his eyes still fixed on the direction where Qinglian Jushi had left, until the figure completely disappeared behind the cave entrance.
