Chapter 8 What's going on between you and Shang Chen?

Chapter 8 What's going on between you and Shang Chen?

The person who arrived was clearly weary from their journey.

Wearing a knee-length black trench coat, the cashmere jacket stained with snow, and gold-rimmed glasses that made him appear even more aloof and unapproachable.

If you ignore the worry in his eyes, this is the first impression Wen Zan gives.

Wen Ling and Wen He both looked up when they heard the sound.

Upon seeing Wen Zan, the two couldn't contain their emotions any longer. As if they had finally found their pillar of support, their tense bodies finally relaxed, and they stood up in unison, rushing into his arms: "Big Brother..."

The people who stood up for them finally arrived.

Wen He felt truly wronged. He hadn't done anything wrong, yet he was accused of a crime. He complained, "Big brother, they hit sister and then framed me."

"What?" Wen Zan's heart skipped a beat, her brows furrowing. "Where did they hit you? Who hit you?"

Wen He muttered that it was the woman with the perm.

Wen Ling looked up, her eyes red and blurred with tears, making her look pitiful. She carefully showed her profile: "Big brother, it hurts a little."

The darkness in Wen Zan's eyes deepened.

Decades ago, no one dared to slap Wen Ling's face, and some even broke the skin. Fortunately, the wound wasn't deep. He patted her head to comfort her, "We'll go to the hospital to get it treated later. It won't leave a scar. Don't worry, let's take care of things here first."

"good."

After Wen Zan arrived, the siblings became unusually well-behaved and relaxed, and they continued to sit in their seats.

Just as Wen Ling was clearing her mind, another figure suddenly entered her field of vision through the open doorway. She politely knocked on the door.

Xu Ming said, "Come in," and asked the person what they wanted.

The person who came said he was a lawyer surnamed Liu who was handling matters for Wen Ling and Wen He.

Not only was Wen Ling stunned, but even Wen Zan was a little puzzled. Their lawyer was still on his way, so where did this guy come from?

Wen Zan looked at Wen Ling with a puzzled expression, while Wen Ling shook her head blankly.

No one knew his identity. Wen Zan frowned, about to speak, when he saw the shouting Jia father suddenly ask the lawyer Liu in a fawning tone, "Excuse me, are you Lawyer Liu Qin?"

Liu Qin nodded: "Exactly."

Mr. Jia was overjoyed. He never expected to see someone he rarely saw. He quickly took out his business card and handed it over with both hands: "It's like this, Attorney Liu, my assistant tried to contact you a few months ago, but you kept saying you were too busy and we couldn't make an appointment. Now that we're both free, how about we talk about cooperation? Our company has several cases where only your involvement can greatly increase our chances of winning."

Liu Qin accepted his business card.

Excitement welled up in Jia's father's eyes as he was about to shake hands.

Liu Qin ignored the hands again, placed the business card on the table, took out his laptop from his briefcase and pressed it down, and said, "I found the surveillance footage of the section of road where Jia Xinquan had the accident on Friday. Could you all take a look?"

Father Jia's face turned as black as the bottom of a pot. Mother Jia, feeling humiliated, pinched him hard, cursing him inwardly for being spineless. Father Jia turned around and slapped her across the face: "Behave yourself!"

Grandmother Jia covered her face and remained silent, glaring at him resentfully.

Everyone present was startled, and the two teachers felt even more embarrassed. Wen He, who was sitting in the distance, touched his face as if he had been beaten, and whispered to Wen Ling, "Hiss, with the strength he used, it would be more believable to say that Jia Xinquan was beaten to the point of being hospitalized."

Wen Ling patted his leg, telling him to stop making sarcastic remarks.

He then asked, "Who do you think summoned Lawyer Liu?"

Wen He shrugged: "How would I know? Maybe he's my brother's friend."

Wen Ling didn't think so. She glanced at the door again and murmured softly, "I feel... it's someone your roommate called over."

Wen He was stunned, and instinctively denied it: "Don't be ridiculous. If something happens to me, it's good enough if he doesn't kick me when I'm down."

Wen Ling pursed her lips and looked at him very seriously.

Wen He scratched his head helplessly: "Why would he help me?"

Wen Ling was also bewildered, trying to find a reasonable explanation: "Because... you are, roommates?"

Wen He rubbed his chin, beginning to think about the changes that had occurred over this period of time. The most obvious one was that, on several occasions when Wen Ling was present, Shang Chen would always sneak over without anyone noticing.

My nerves suddenly went numb.

He made a startling discovery: Could it be that Shang Chen... likes his sister?

This was quickly verified.

The video evidence brought by Liu Qin clearly shows that Jia Xinquan was surrounded and beaten by a group of thugs in a secluded place. Among them, the only girl in the group was beaten the most severely, and it seems that she was the one who called the group over.

Liu Qin also explained her identity.

She was Jia Xinquan's ex-girlfriend. The two were high school classmates. She had just been dumped a while ago. Because she was furious and felt that Jia Xinquan disliked her for not getting into university, she called her friends and beat him up.

Afterwards, I still had some conscience and called an ambulance for him.

Otherwise, if Jia Xinquan really died there, no one would know.

His ex-girlfriend and the group of people have been taken into custody by the police. In order to reduce their punishment, they confessed to what they had done. Therefore, this matter has nothing to do with Wen He from beginning to end.

Faced with overwhelming evidence, Jia Xinquan's parents couldn't refute anything. At this moment, they wished they could go back to the ward and beat Jia Xinquan up too. How dare this little brat lie to them.

They were still hanging out with shady characters. Seeing that everyone was still watching the video, they rolled their eyes and tried to slink away, but Wen Zan, with his sharp eyes, stretched out his long legs and blocked their way: "Apologize to my younger brother and sister."

Wen He also came to his senses and said confidently, "Yes, apologize to my sister, and also, pay up!"

Grandmother Jia was furious and shouted, "I only touched her lightly! Her skin is delicate, and she bled, yet she wants me to pay for it? Bah!"

Liu Qin glanced at them indifferently: "According to the law, you should pay this money."

Mr. Jia initially intended to ignore Liu Qin, but seeing that Liu Qin had already made a move, he apologized and reluctantly transferred 5,000 yuan over. Ignoring Mrs. Jia's clamor, he left.

The matter was finally resolved, and the group left the administration building.

When I went in, it was still light; when I came out, the sun had already set, and the sky was a hazy gray.

Wen Zan shook hands with Liu Qin: "Thank you. Let's have a meal sometime."

Liu Qin smiled and said, "It's just my job. Besides... I came here on my boss's orders. If I have to thank someone, it should be my boss."

Wen He was still complaining to Wen Ling about how it was unfair to let those two get away with it when he suddenly heard this and thought to himself, "This is bad. That bastard Shang Chen is probably really after my sister." Before he could stop him, Wen Zan had already asked, "May I ask who your boss is?"

"Shang Chen, the young master of the Shang Group."

Wen Zan raised an eyebrow in surprise, but didn't show anything, and smiled: "Okay, I'll personally visit to express my gratitude when I have time."

Liu Qin hesitated, but still relayed Shang Chen's special instruction: "My boss said there's no need for a personal visit to express gratitude, nor any elaborate gifts. All he needs is... Miss Wen Ling to treat him to a meal."

Wen Ling froze, blinking her eyes.

Wen He immediately broke down: "Impossible! He can forget about it!"

Liu Qin also felt that this was a bit too obvious. His boss really didn't hide his intentions at all. He smiled awkwardly and said, "This is what my boss asked me to convey. As for other matters, Liu Qin can't make the decision, so I'll be leaving now!"

Once the mission was complete, he immediately ran away.

Whether he agrees or not is not something he can control.

After the person left, Wen Zan looked at the siblings and asked, "When did you two get to know the young master of the Shang family?"

Neither of them said a word. Wen Zan wasn't in a hurry. He put his arm around one of them and walked towards the school gate, saying, "Let's go to the hospital first, and then go to the hotel to visit your sister-in-law."

Hearing this, Wen Ling finally felt a little happy, and she said softly, "Yangyang, are you here too?"

Yangyang is the eldest brother's child. He is only 2 years old this year and is an adorable little boy.

"He's here," Wen Zan said. "We'll go over there later and see if he still recognizes you as his aunt."

Wen Ling nodded and agreed.

As Wen He walked, a question suddenly occurred to him: "Brother, why did you suddenly come to G City? Are you here on a business trip? No, how did you know we were in trouble? Did my teacher call you?"

“Well, the family wants to expand their business here. Your sister-in-law and I will be staying in G City for the next few months.” Wen Zan raised an eyebrow and smiled. “You know how I got here? My second uncle called me. He was furious on the phone, threatening to beat me up whenever he saw me, and saying that your SIM card has to be suspended.”

Wen He exclaimed, his face contorted with grief, "No way! I'm so wronged, big brother, you have to explain for me later!"

Wen Zan suppressed a laugh and deliberately said, "No, I'm also afraid of my second uncle."

Wen Ling smiled along with her. Being with family is always so relaxing and joyful.

Just as they were arguing, Wen Zan's phone rang, with the contact name "Second Uncle".

Wen He glanced at it out of the corner of his eye and was about to slip away when Wen Zan grabbed him by the back of his collar, handed him the phone, and smiled, "Answer it. We have to face this eventually."

"..."

Wen He was making a phone call outside the car.

Wen Zan told Wen Ling to sit in the car with the heater on for a while, and after explaining a few words to her second uncle outside, she got into the driver's seat and looked at her sister in the rearview mirror: "Lingling, do you know Shang Chen's background?"

Wen Ling raised her eyes and shook her head blankly: "I don't know."

Carefully choosing her words, Wen Zan asked again, "Then... what's going on between you and him? Are you very familiar with each other?"

Wen Ling licked her lips, feeling inexplicably nervous: "No, he... is Xiao He, Xiao He's roommate. I've only met him a few times."

Wen Zan said "okay" and didn't ask any more questions.

He didn't want to say too much. What if it was just Shang Chen's wishful thinking? Lingling clearly hadn't figured things out in matters of the heart yet. Maybe Shang Chen would give up after a few tries.

but…

"Lingling, no matter what," Wen Zan instructed her, "be wary when interacting with unfamiliar members of the opposite sex. If you go on a date alone, send the address to Xiao He first. If anything goes wrong, tell your family immediately. In short, you must protect yourself and not worry us."

Wen Ling smiled sweetly: "I understand, big brother."

After hearing that slap.

Yan Qingli was getting restless, but Shang Chen forbade her to go in. She squatted on the ground, not knowing what to do. She couldn't ask her family for help, otherwise they would find out that she had just started college and was already thinking about dating, and they would definitely cancel her bank cards. So she could only bury her head and cry.

While I was crying, I heard the person next to me making a phone call.

He seemed to be on the phone with his family's lawyer, and then arranged for someone to investigate Jia Xinquan's activities a few days ago. After everything was arranged, he leaned his head against the wall and closed his eyes to rest.

Yan Qingli felt that something was wrong. Why was he more concerned than she was? Thinking this, she asked him the question.

Shang Chen crossed his arms and didn't even open his eyes.

Yan Qingli gasped, "You wouldn't be...?"

Shang Chen opened his eyes and glanced at her.

Yan Qingli continued, "You're interested in Wen He, aren't you?"

Shang Chen's face visibly darkened several shades, and he closed his eyes again, ignoring the idiot.

Yan Qingli snorted: "This is boring. I never expected you would like Wen Ling's personality."

If the timing weren't so bad, Shang Chen would have liked to curl the corners of his mouth into a smile. He didn't know why, but just hearing this name made his heart flutter: "What kind of personality does she have?"

"She's like a pure, innocent, and gentle little white flower, so gentle that she makes you want to protect her."

Yan Qingli glanced at him: "You've never liked those flamboyant little vixens, have you?"

Shang Chen parted his thin lips slightly: "How come I didn't know I liked this type?"

"Oh... I guess so." Yan Qingli seemed to realize that this devil in front of her had been quite chaste for the past ten years and had never been in a relationship, unlike her, whose ex-boyfriends could fill a mahjong table. "I thought you liked this kind of person."

Shang Chen ignored her.

After a moment of silence, Yan Qingli still felt something was off: "Wait, Shang Chen, you're not serious, are you?"

"What?" Shang Chen lifted his eyelids to look at her, "Are you going to give me a scumbag character?"

Will your family agree?

Shang Chen remained silent.

Yan Qingli added, "If you're not sure of your feelings, don't mess with her. Your family's daughter is a real handful; not everyone can handle her."

Shang Chen chuckled but remained silent.

Yan Qingli, however, demanded a clear stance from him: "Shang Chen, did you hear me?"

"Yes." Shang Chen's voice was a little hoarse. "I won't let her suffer any injustice."
