Chapter 89 Resurrection (Part 3)

Zhong Shiqi's expression changed. "Where is it?"

The woman pointed behind her, "In the mirror."

Zhong Shiqi looked in the mirror.

"Zhou Xiang, are you sure you're not mistaken? There's nothing in the mirror."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Xiang looked at the mirror and saw nothing on it except for some water stains.

Zhong Shiqi laughed and said, "You just said you weren't afraid of ghosts, but it turns out you're more timid than anyone else."

Zhou Xiang's face was a little pale. She said with lingering fear, "Maybe I was just seeing things, or I was hallucinating."

Zhong Shiqi put his arm around her and said, "Alright, just stay in the room and don't go out. I'll come in and keep you company after I've watched them put Qiu Ran's body into the coffin."

Zhou Xiang originally didn't want to go out, but after what happened with the mirror, she didn't dare to stay in the room alone.

"No, I want to go out," Zhou Xiang said.

"Are you really scared?" Zhong Shiqi said.

Zhou Xiang pursed her lips and remained silent.

"Then let's go." In the eyes of those relatives, Zhou Xiang was his brother's girlfriend anyway.

This was something he had already discussed privately with his brother.

...

Outside, in the center of the hall, a dozen men came over, opened the glass coffin, lifted the body, and placed it into the solid wood coffin.

The men used hammers to nail the coffin shut, leaving it covered in countless nails.

Zhong Shiqi and Zhou Xiang both breathed a sigh of relief.

Qiu Ran's mother was already in poor health, and she cried her heart out when she saw this scene.

But Qiu Ran will be put into the coffin tonight, which has been agreed upon by all the elders of the Qiu family.

The guests, witnessing this scene, became inexplicably agitated.

A child was being scolded by his mother, and the child cried loudly, then bumped into an elderly woman next to him.

As a result, the old lady suddenly convulsed and collapsed to the ground.

Everyone was immediately startled.

This old lady is none other than Huang Dama's mother-in-law.

The surrounding guests gathered around at the sight.

When Aunt Huang saw it was her mother-in-law, she rushed over, "Grandma, Grandma! What's wrong?"

The old lady convulsed for two minutes and foamed at the mouth.

The guests quickly said, "What are you standing there for? This old man is clearly having a relapse. Take him to the hospital right away!"

Zhong Shiqi and his son rushed over.

Encountering something like this at a funeral is truly unsettling.

Just as several bold men were about to help the old woman up, she suddenly opened her eyes and sat up on her own.

It's like a zombie has risen from the dead; it makes people afraid to get close.

"What's wrong with Grandma Huang?"

The old woman began to speak, "I am not her, I am her deceased husband."

Aunt Huang was shocked, "Father-in-law!"

Huang Meng was also shocked; her grandfather had been dead for many years.

The surrounding guests were surprised and began to discuss the matter.

So... could it be that the old man possessed him?

However, many people still think it's fake; there are no ghosts in this world.

Aunt Huang cautiously approached, "Mother-in-law, stop making a scene. How could you be my father-in-law? Are you missing your husband too much? So..."

The old woman suddenly glared at Aunt Huang, her voice hoarse, but it was a man's voice that spoke, "I'm not, I'm her husband!"

The guests were instantly startled.

The same goes for Aunt Huang; those fierce eyes belonged to her deceased father-in-law.

Her father-in-law had a violent temper and died a tragic death; he was hacked to death by his lover.

"Possessed by a ghost!"

The guests collectively took a few steps back.

At that moment, the child who had knocked down the old lady suddenly started convulsing while sitting in the chair, and he fell to the ground foaming at the mouth.

Her mother saw this and quickly picked him up, "Son, son, what's wrong?"

Suddenly, the child opened his eyes, just like the old woman.

Her mother was startled and let go.

The child looked at the crowd and knelt down, begging for mercy from the two women standing in the crowd.

"Please, please spare me! Forgive me! I don't want to be punished anymore, I've had enough!"

The crowd was confused and horrified.

What's going on?

"And who is he?"

Someone exclaimed, "He's the child's grandfather, Old Man Zhang. He was quite famous in our area back in the day!"

Everyone was curious upon hearing this.

The man said, "When he was young, he liked to gamble and was lazy. Not only that, he also favored sons over daughters. His wife gave birth to several daughters, but he abandoned two of them and drowned one. His wife was so devastated by the death of her daughter that she passed away."

"This old man was obsessed with having a son, so he quickly married another wife, who gave birth to two more daughters. She was originally going to be abandoned by the old man, but this wife was much stronger than the first one and refused to be given away until she gave birth to two sons."

“His two daughters were never well taken care of in the Zhang family. They didn’t eat or dress as well as his two sons. And his ex-wife’s daughter was even worse off.”

"He only allowed his sons to study. Old Zhang refused to let girls study because he thought it was useless. But neither of his two sons became successful, and he sent his ex-wife's daughter away to get married early."

"I heard that after that daughter got married, she was abused by her husband every day. Some people who pass by there can hear the man beating her even in broad daylight. She's so pitiful."

"But Old Zhang still lived a good life. In his old age, his son and daughter-in-law took care of him. In those days, the law was not perfect, and it was a poor and remote place, so the police could not reach us."
