Chapter 25 Past Events
"Cough cough."
A pungent smell of burning plastic and various other compounds hit the air.
Jiang Liyue sneezed involuntarily as soon as she pushed open the door.
There were no lights in the burned-down studio, but when the door was opened, a dim yellow light shone in from the doorway, allowing a rough view of the interior.
The walls were blackened by the fire, and there were various burnt remnants on the ground. Some easels were not completely burned.
This is an art studio filled with flammable materials; even the slightest spark could burn it to ashes.
However, the contents inside were not completely destroyed, proving that the fire was at least put out in time.
Even the rest of the corridor showed no signs of burning.
In this situation, why would the school seal off the entire art building because it felt unlucky?
Just by glancing around from the doorway, Jiang Liyue noticed many things that were amiss.
She frowned slightly, and instead of stepping inside, she took out the white candle she had pulled out of the examination room from her clothes again.
Judging from the strange hair she burned last night, the white candle did have some effect.
After the candles were lit, Jiang Liyue held them up and slowly stepped into the studio.
The moment she stepped inside, a chilly wind swept past her.
Behind me, there was the sound of the door slamming shut again.
A fire rose from beneath her feet.
The fire seemed to appear suddenly; the flames barely touched the soles of her feet before instantly engulfing her skin and burning.
A real, burning sensation came through my skin.
Without a doubt, if the burning continued, her skin would be covered in blisters.
Her clothes and hair would burn, emitting a roasted smell.
"Tsk, I'm a little hungry." Jiang Liyue looked at the flames that were about to engulf her completely, and said with a smile, "Could you put out the fire first?"
Otherwise, she might crave barbecue.
Roasted pig's trotters, roasted pork belly, roasted lamb skewers, roasted chicken legs and wings...
It's sizzling with oil, and it smells really good.
The flames, unwilling to be intimidated by Jiang Liyue, grew even larger.
She would feel the agony of being burned alive, and watch her own death unfold before her eyes...
But Jiang Liyue still had a smile on her face. The next moment, the flames went out, as if nothing had happened.
A terrifying face suddenly appeared, its skin covered in blisters oozing pus and blood from the flames.
His pupils, devoid of any white, held an aura of death.
Jiang Liyue greeted him with a smile: "Good evening."
The strangely prepared appearance of the man was met with such a reaction, and a hint of collapse appeared on his messy face.
But he quickly returned to his lifeless state: "Get out of here!"
"That won't do, I'm here to find something." Jiang Liyue held up a white candle, a smile on her face, her eyes curving into a beautiful shape.
She had already discovered that, starting from the exam hall, the supernatural beings never killed people directly, but instead instilled fear in the players first.
Therefore, fear may also be a source of eerie power.
Just like the sudden flames, most people would panic if they saw themselves on fire and experienced the burning sensation.
Then the fake fire will become real fire.
"You won't find what you're looking for here. If you stay any longer, I'll eat you!" The man's face twisted in a sinister expression, his eyes filled with a chilling warning.
But Jiang Liyue wasn't afraid of Pei Ji, so of course she wouldn't be afraid of her. She smiled and said, "Ren Yuanxing sent me here. You know her, right?"
Upon hearing the name, the man's face showed a faint look of bewilderment.
“Ren Yuanxing, Xingxing…she, she’s dead, she was killed by them…”
"I failed to save her, she was so close... It's all my fault!"
The man's bizarre body began to change; he was surrounded by flames, and the blisters on his body began to rot.
The flames almost burned Jiang Liyue, who was standing next to her, as she could feel the continuous heat.
However, the white candle in her hand seemed to create a barrier, separating her from the flame on the other side.
It's truly an item that comes from a dungeon; I wonder if it can be taken out of the dungeon.
Jiang Liyue muttered to herself, then pulled out a mirror from her bosom: "This is the one you gave her, right? You are Cheng Yang."
After gathering that information from 414 last night, Jiang Liyue has been thinking about one question.
Where did that boy from Class 4 who supposedly eloped with Ren Yuanxing go?
But when she opened the studio and saw the strange man, she had a hunch in her mind.
The words the other person was muttering further confirmed her suspicions.
He was that boy, Cheng Yang, who wrote love letters to Ren Yuanxing!
The man stared at the mirror with his eerie, dark eyes, and his emotions gradually calmed down.
Gradually, the blisters on his face began to disappear, and he transformed into a handsome young man in a school uniform.
However, his face remained an eerie pale blue.
He slowly approached, his fingers touching the mirror. After a long while, he nodded, seemingly lost in thought: "That's right, I am Cheng Yang."
Cheng Yang knew Ren Yuanxing from the moment she entered Xingfu No. 1 Middle School. She was a very inconspicuous girl.
But she loves to paint. Cheng Yang had seen her a few times in the school's art studio. Her paintings were beautiful and cheerful, making people feel happy without even realizing it.
Later, Cheng Yang often noticed her, and after passing by her on campus many times, he would turn around and look at her again.
However, because they were not in the same class, Cheng Yang did not notice that Ren Yuanxing was being bullied by his roommate.
"When I found her, she was lying in a pool of blood. They had broken her limbs, slashed her face, and even ripped out her heart!"
"She was so afraid of pain, so kind, yet she died like that..." Cheng Yang's expression became slightly unsteady as he said this.
Jiang Liyue also recalled the scene she had seen in her dream, and had an urge to go and drag those NPCs from 414 over and beat them up.
The girls discovered that Cheng Yang had witnessed everything, and they knocked him unconscious in the art studio.
They then dragged Ren Yuanxing's body away to dispose of it.
As they left, they didn't notice that they had bumped into the candles in the art studio.
"I was conscious when I was burned, and I watched helplessly as I was consumed by the flames!" Cheng Yang said, his voice filled with resentment.
The girls, fearing he would reveal their murders if he lived, decided to wait until he was dead before attempting to rescue him.
There was also a girl who kept saying she liked Cheng Yang. Rather than saying she liked him that much, it would be more accurate to say she just couldn't stand that the boy she liked liked Ren Yuanxing.
Some of them had connections with high-ranking officials at the school, and with a little manipulation, they managed to smooth things over by saying that Ren Yuanxing and Cheng Yang had eloped.
The art building was therefore shut down.
After saying this, Cheng Yang paused for a moment: "Unfortunately, even if I become a monster, I can't leave this studio. I can't kill them, but they won't dare to come looking for me either..."
As he spoke, he pulled something out of his pocket: "She sent you here to find this, right?"
In his palm was a slowly beating black heart.
