Chapter 174 Deliberate Attempt to Win Him Over (Part Two)

“Young lady.” Xu Nian raised her eyebrows, her half-smile exuding a strong sense of pressure. “Would you usually lend a hand to these pitiful people? As the saying goes, help in an emergency, but not in poverty. If I open this door today, how will I live in the future? Helping those in distress should only be done when you have the ability. You can’t just give everything to others and starve to death yourself.”

"Well said!"

"I agree with what Master Xu said. How can someone who can't even survive themselves help others? Wouldn't that make them a fool?"

On the outskirts of the crowd, a group of people sat on a high-rise building. The open window faced Xu Nian's location. "Is this Xu Nian, the one everyone says is a demigod?" The person sitting in the middle wore a purple robe, a jade belt around his waist, and a jade pendant with auspicious cloud patterns.

Wearing a hollowed-out gold crown, she had a delicate yet not effeminate appearance. Looking at the scene below, she asked a question.

Upon hearing this, the person behind him first bowed and then lowered his head to reply, "Replying to your question, sir, it is indeed Xu Nian. She was the one who helped Su Mu and the others ruin our plans on the Su Causeway. This person has strange methods, and I've heard that she knows sorcery."

"Sorcery?" The young man addressed as "Master" was intrigued. "Whether it's sorcery or just empty rhetoric, as long as it's useful to us, it's magic. I just hope this girl really has real skills."

He remained skeptical of the information reported by his subordinates. His icy gaze, like that of a snake, fell upon Xu Nian once more. Was this delicate flower really as capable as these people claimed?

Xu Nian was unaware of what others were thinking and, as usual, set up her fortune-telling stall the next morning. Gu Zhan originally wanted to come along, but she made up an excuse to get him to leave.

Are you kidding me? If this guy really came, my little stall would be torn to shreds by the girls' stares.

"The fortune teller is here? Let's get started quickly, I'm in a hurry to deliver something to someone today."

"Yes, yes. We've all been waiting here since early morning, just waiting for you to do the calculations."

After what happened yesterday, she thought there would be at least half as many people. But before she could even set up her stall, a long queue had already formed over there.

They solved their problems one by one, and the speed was quite fast. "Give me a fortune reading." After a while, a person I had never seen before, whose clothes clearly indicated that he was rich and noble, sat down on the stool.

His men behind him slammed their fists on the table and presented him with a tael of silver.

The crowd watching from behind widened their eyes. In the days since Xu Nian started his fortune-telling stall, he had seen at least ten, if not twenty, high-ranking officials and wealthy merchants.

Such a person, whose every gesture exudes an innate nobility, has never been seen before.

[Big business, host! Hurry, this is big business!]

[This guy is so handsome! Were people of high status in ancient times judged solely by their looks? Ah, I'm always smitten.]

"You like handsome guys, huh? Then hurry up and follow me and start sending gifts!" Xu Nian replied to the comment with a joke, then turned to the person who had just arrived, "May I ask what this young master would like to discuss?"

The young master remained silent, but his attendant spoke up: "Young master, a business deal of yours has recently stalled. Could you please tell us how to resolve this?"

After speaking, a small note was handed to Xu Nian. Before she could unfold it, the pinky ring suddenly flashed a few times.

Gu Zhan's cool yet reassuring voice echoed in her mind, "This is the Third Prince, be careful." With the restoration of her magical power, the pinky ring was no longer just for transmitting sound.

As long as they want to, they can talk to each other in their minds at any time, without fear of being overheard or spread by anyone with ulterior motives.

The Third Prince...

Gu Zhan's reminder unconsciously brought to mind what those people had said. The princes' struggle for the throne—all aimed directly at the top—and she wondered what their true purpose was today.

Xu Nian unfolded the slip of paper with the birth date and time written on it, and did some calculations with her fingers. "This young master's business prospects are not very good. If he is not careful, he may even face the risk of his family being ruined." Regardless of his purpose, Xu Nian had disliked this person for a long time.

The Third Prince's grip on the fan tightened slightly. "Then what insightful opinion does the young lady have?"

"Only with a kind heart and a broad mind can one accumulate wealth. If one can only see the small world in front of them, has a narrow mind, and insists on taking crooked paths, they will only end up dead and their souls will perish."

"you!"

With a loud bang, Xu Nian's small table shattered in two instantly from his slap. His body tensed suddenly, and his wrist snapped.

“Sir, she’s just a countrywoman from the mountains. You can’t take her words seriously. It’s not worth getting angry with her.” The attendant stepped forward to comfort her, then glanced coldly at Xu Nian. “You’re just a nobody. Do you know who you’ve messed with? There will come a time when you’ll be begging for mercy.”

"She's just speaking her mind, why should this young master get angry with a little girl?" Gu Zhan flew down and stood in front of Xu Nian. "The divination is over, young master, please leave."

The Third Prince's eyes were icy cold, his sinister gaze filled with a desire to tear Xu Nian to shreds on the spot. Yet, he had no choice but to be wary of Gu Zhan, this lackey who only sided with his cheap old man!

If today's events were to reach the emperor's ears, given his current state of being out of favor with the emperor, who knows what kind of trouble he might stir up!

"Let's go!"

After everyone had left, Gu Zhan turned around, his gaze searching over Xu Nian. "Are you alright? You don't need to worry about this person. I'll take care of everything."

The man's gaze was deep and gentle, making Xu Nian's ears burn. She looked around awkwardly, "Thank you. If it weren't for you today, that person might have done something to me."

[Today's sweet treat achieved.]

[I'm totally shipping them! But that third prince looks so fierce, he probably won't let this go easily.]

[The general is so brave! What are you waiting for, streamer? Marry him! He's willing to stand against imperial power for you!]

Pretending not to see the dizzying barrage of comments, she glanced at the scattered items on the floor and said, "That's enough for today. I'll come back tomorrow to help you all out after I fix my table."

The table is cracked; it doesn't seem quite right to have someone do fortune-telling here.

The crowd could only nod in agreement while muttering complaints about the Third Prince's actions. "That young master looks good, but I didn't expect him to have such a bad temper."

"Sigh, I'll try again tomorrow. I refuse to believe I won't get a turn!"
