Chapter Fifty-Seven: The Utterly Shameless Second Aunt

These sudden, eerie words sent a chill down Zhao Jinfeng's spine. She trembled as she looked around, but found nothing.

"Who, who is it!"

She clutched the grain sack in her hand tightly in fear, then screamed hysterically, "Stop playing tricks, come out now!"

In an instant, the eerie sound, sometimes near, sometimes far, came to her ears again, wailing as if telling a story.

"If you have a clear conscience, you have nothing to fear..."

"I...I didn't do anything!"

Zhao Jinfeng was so frightened that she almost wet herself, but she still stubbornly kept talking while glancing around.

She had somehow wandered into a strange forest, where it was pitch black all around and she couldn't see a single person.

But even in this situation, she was surrounded by an eerie, chilling atmosphere and terrifying words that kept coming at her.

"Then what's that in your hand? Wasn't it stolen?"

The sound continued, echoing in Zhao Jinfeng's ears, gradually eroding her crumbling mental defenses.

"What stealing? This, this is mine!"

Although Zhao Jinfeng was terrified, she was still unwilling to tell the truth and instead mustered her courage to refute.

But then, she suddenly felt a chill on her back, and a withered, wrinkled hand suddenly appeared on Zhao Jinfeng's shoulder, slowly tightening its grip.

"ah!"

Immediately, Zhao Jinfeng closed her eyes tightly, screamed shrilly, and violently shook her shoulders, crying out, "No! Don't come any closer!"

"Oh? Is this yours?"

The eerie voice continued, punctuated by a piercing laugh, "If you still don't admit it, hehe..."

Zhao Jinfeng completely broke down, panting heavily, and knelt on the ground, her eyes filled with obvious fear.

What exactly happened?

Why is this happening?

However, the only answer to her inner question was the increasingly eerie atmosphere.

"You're hiding something."

The voice slowed down, but it gently pounded on Zhao Jinfeng's already broken nerves.

"I'll talk, I'll talk!"

Finally, Zhao Jinfeng knelt down on the ground as if she had gone mad, and handed over the grain sack in her hand with trembling hands.

"I stole all of this from that bitch Xu Nian, but so what! I'm her aunt, what's wrong with taking some food?"

She kept her head down, afraid that the ghost would suddenly attack her, but then the surroundings suddenly became quiet again.

When Zhao Jinfeng could no longer contain herself, she quietly looked up, only to be surprised to meet Xu Nian's cold, indifferent gaze.

The surrounding area was already filled with people, some from their own village and others from the neighboring village.

etc……

Zhao Jinfeng suddenly couldn't process what was happening. She nervously looked behind her, only to find the space empty and there were no ghosts at all.

Only then did she realize what was happening, and she screamed angrily, "You, Xu Nian, you actually tried to scare me with ghosts!"

As she spoke, Zhao Jinfeng could no longer hold back and suddenly lunged at Xu Nian, raising her hand to grab her hair.

But the villagers nearby had been watching her closely. As soon as she lunged at them, several of them grabbed Zhao Jinfeng and tied her up.

"What are you doing? Let me go!"

Zhao Jinfeng finally panicked and looked around helplessly, but no one was willing to help her; they all stood still.

"Everyone heard it. She herself admitted to taking our food. I'm not slandering her."

Xu Nian crossed her arms and said leisurely, "Hehe, it really proves the saying, 'If you have a clear conscience, you have nothing to fear.'"

Upon hearing this, Zhao Jinfeng stared blankly at her sweaty palms, realizing once again that she had been tricked by Xu Nian.

Suddenly, intense hatred filled her heart.

"You shameless little slut! You accuse me of stealing? If you hadn't stopped giving me food, would I have stolen it?"

Zhao Jinfeng said hysterically, "I am one of the few relatives you have in this world, and not only do you not take good care of me, you treat me like this!"

As soon as these words were spoken, the live stream chat exploded with excitement.

I've never seen such a shameless person.

[Wang Jinmei and Cuiqing are just prone to being obnoxious, but Zhao Jinfeng is completely illogical!]

This sounds like one of my worst relatives... I'm disgusted.

Xu Nian also found it quite amusing.

She stepped forward, meeting Zhao Jinfeng's resentful eyes. "You said you're my family?"

Faced with the oppressive aura of Xu Nian, Zhao Jinfeng couldn't help but feel a little guilty, but she still snorted coldly, "Otherwise what?"

"Now that I have food and live a carefree life, you are my second aunt. But what about before?"

After a pause, Xu Nian revealed a mocking smile, "When I was raising my two younger brothers and we were struggling to make ends meet, where were you, my family member, all of a sudden?"

"you!"

Zhao Jinfeng was immediately rendered speechless by the rebuttal, but she still tried to argue, "Isn't it because we also have no food to eat? What's wrong with that?"

"But you, now that we have food, you're unwilling to share even a single grain. You're truly an ingrate!"

Xu Nian chuckled dismissively and began to recount the vivid memories of the past.

"Oh, so when we were fleeing the famine, you went against everyone's wishes and abandoned my brother and me. Was that also out of necessity?"

These words immediately caused a stir among the surrounding villagers.

"What? She actually did something so heinous?"

"You wouldn't believe it, but the fortune teller's two younger brothers were both incredibly thin, and they wished they could stretch one meal into several days' worth of food!"

"That woman is truly a wicked hussy; how dare she even seek out a fortune teller!"

The onlookers looked at Zhao Jinfeng with disdain, and discussed her with contempt.

Zhao Jinfeng's face turned pale instantly, and she couldn't utter a single word of explanation.

Xu Nian's words were all true, and many people witnessed them, leaving her speechless.

"But she's your family too!"

Just as Xu Nian was about to teach Zhao Jinfeng a lesson, someone from the neighboring village suddenly shouted, looking quite indignant.

This remark immediately sparked several comments, with many men from the neighboring village echoing, "That's right, and besides, you have so much grain, what's wrong with sharing some with us?"

Upon hearing this, Xu Nian narrowed her eyes.

She realized that these people were just trying to act like scoundrels and get the food from her.

The people from the neighboring village exchanged glances, understood what these people meant, and began to shout as well.

"Yes! No matter what, you must produce the food today!"
