Chapter Seven: Two Treasures Have Fever, Temporarily Taking a Break in the Strange Village

The villagers had never seen anything like it before, and they were so terrified that they wet themselves and couldn't utter a single word.

"Search!"

The bandit leader, annoyed by what he heard, slammed the man to the ground and roared, "Those who find anything, throw them down the mountain; those who don't, kill them!"

No!

The men who had been so arrogant just moments before were now being treated like chicks, being turned over and groped by the bandits.

"Grandpa, that's all I have left to eat, please let me go!"

A villager watched in anguish as the cold pancakes he had been carrying in his pocket for so long were taken away. He cried out in despair, but the bandit threw him to the ground.

"Let you go? What will I eat if I let you go!"

The bandit leader spat, and seeing that his brothers hadn't found anything extra, he became enraged. He drew his sword, ready to strike, shouting, "Since there's no food, then you're all dead!"

At this critical moment, the bandit's hand, which was wielding the knife, suddenly became incredibly heavy, and the knife that was originally meant to strike the villager crashed to the ground with a thud.

"Boss!"

Upon seeing this unusual sight, the bandits were immediately shocked and surrounded the area.

"What's going on?!"

The bandit leader stared at his hand in disbelief, but his body slumped to the ground uncontrollably, landing face-first in the dirt.

The crowd looked at each other, wanting to help him up, but they seemed to trip over something and fell directly onto the bandit leader.

"Ouch!"

One by one, figures fell, and he screamed in pain, roaring, "You bunch of bastards, get down here now!"

Seeing the strange sight before them, the villagers were immediately jolted awake. They picked up the rags that had been gathered from the ground and slipped away without looking back.

Xu Nian lagged behind at the back of the group, her hand gestures gradually changing.

If it weren't for her timely rescue, these people would probably have been hacked to pieces by the bandits!

[The streamer is so kind-hearted; they're so disobedient, yet she still wants to help them.]

[After all, we're from the same village. For that alone, I have to like and follow!]

Seeing that Xu Nian had put aside past grievances, the viewers in the live stream spontaneously gave her likes and followed her, and the number of viewers in the live stream successfully exceeded 50,000.

As the amount of money in her account gradually increased, Xu Nian's smile broadened.

Despite the hardships, everyone in the live stream was cheerful, and their money only increased, so they were quite content.

A moment later, those who had been robbed by the bandits returned in a panic, crying and kneeling before the crowd.

The village chief, puzzled, helped the people up. "Why are you back?"

"Yes, there were bandits who robbed us, but we escaped back!"

The men wailed and howled, kneeling on the ground and clinging to the village chief's pants, pleading, "Please let us travel by water with you! We'll never go back to that mountain path again!"

Seeing the way the group looked, the village chief didn't know what to say and nodded in agreement.

Xu Nian glanced at it for a moment, then looked away.

They're from the same village, after all. She's done what she was supposed to do. What happens next is up to fate.

[Hey streamer, look at your brother! Why is his face so red?]

Upon seeing this comment, Xu Nian was immediately startled and hurriedly reached out to pull Da Bao and Er Bao away.

At this moment, Da Bao and Er Bao snuggled together, their sallow little faces flushed red, and sweat kept beading on their foreheads. They kept muttering, "It's so hot..."

Xu Nian looked worried and placed her hands on the foreheads of the two children; they were indeed burning hot.

These symptoms suggest a fever, right?

Xu Nian nodded, and was about to take out the medicine from her spatial storage when several men in front of her stood up and shouted, "Let's go, let's continue on our way."

The people were full of complaints, and the long period of fleeing famine had left them physically and mentally exhausted.

"You guys go first, we'll catch up later."

Xu Nian, holding the two children, raised her voice to the village chief beside her who was about to leave.

The village chief frowned, about to reprimand him, when the villagers who had received favors from Xu Nian spoke up first, "Then let's find another place to rest for a while."

Wang Jinmei raised an eyebrow and opened her mouth to retort, but then remembered what had happened earlier and swallowed her words.

"Yeah, let's rest a bit longer. I see there's a village over there where we can rest!"

The villagers leading the way shouted and pointed towards a desolate village nearby.

Seeing this, the village chief didn't say anything more.

Upon arriving at the village, Xu Nian, holding her two children, hid in a corner of the group of five, her mind immersing in the spatial dimension.

Fortunately, she had anticipated that she might get sick and brought some medicine with her.

She took out the syrup meant for the little ones and coaxed the two children, saying, "Big sister bought you candy, just eat some and you'll feel better."

Da Bao whimpered and began to suck on the small bottle.

Erbao was too weak to move, his body was wobbly, and Xu Nian could only feed him spoonful by spoonful.

Did I enter the wrong live stream? Why did it turn into a parenting channel?

[The newbie is giving the streamer a follow, it's so pitiful, sob sob.]

After feeding the medicine, Xu Nian breathed a sigh of relief, laid the two children flat on the ground, and then got up and looked around.

This is a long-abandoned village; nothing remains except the ruins of houses.

However, Xu Nian subconsciously felt that something was strange about this place.

But for the time being, she couldn't sense anything, so she walked to the village chief's side and said, "Village chief, there might be something strange around here. We need to find a few people to take a look."

As soon as Xu Nian finished speaking, Wang Jinmei jumped up, pointed at her nose and cursed, "What are you looking at? I'm exhausted! What's so strange about this lousy village? If you don't want to stay, then get out and stay here!"

Upon hearing this, Xu Nian's gaze was fixed on her.

Wang Jinmei was terrified, but she also thought that with so many people around, Xu Nian probably wouldn't dare to do anything to her.

He then became even more arrogant, saying, "What are you looking at? If you don't believe me, ask everyone else, who still has the strength?"

"Yes, it's just a village. What could be so strange about it? I'm not going to go and see."

"Exactly, exactly! If you want to see it yourself, go see it yourself. What's the point of entertaining us?"

The villagers talked amongst themselves, but no one was willing to move.

I'm so angry! I wish lightning would strike them all down!

[But did the streamer notice something?]

Having gained the villagers' support, Wang Jinmei felt quite proud. She snorted and sat down, wiggling her bottom. "If you ask me, who are you trying to scare with your ghostly antics?"

Seeing that no one paid attention to her, Wang Jinmei spoke up again in a sarcastic tone.

"Ha, the neighboring village is more than three hills behind us! They're in a hurry to get on their way, unlike us, who are either being attacked by bandits or have sick children and can't even walk half a step!"
