Chapter Sixty-Two: His Identity Was Questioned?

The villagers had long known that Xu Nian possessed the power of talismans, so when they saw her severely punishing those who had committed all sorts of evil deeds, they didn't react much; instead, they cheered her on.

"Those damned people deserved it!"

"They should have been taught a lesson long ago!"

But for the people in the neighboring village, this was the first time they had ever seen such a spectacular scene.

In the bright sunlight, the seemingly frail girl had a gloomy expression, holding a raging fire in her hand, scorching the people on the ground beyond recognition.

They were filled with awe, an uncontrollable fear, and trembled.

Who on earth is this person?!

The most obvious example is Zhao Jinfeng.

Looking at Xu Nian, who was attracting all the attention, Zhao Jinfeng was momentarily dazed.

Is this still the same timid girl from back then?

She vaguely remembered how Xu Nian had been abused back then.

At this moment, Zhao Jinfeng simply couldn't bring herself to compare the two people.

Zhao Jinfeng had a hundred questions in her mind, but when she met Xu Nian's cold gaze, she couldn't utter a single word.

“They deserved it, and I’m warning you all here: don’t get any wicked ideas.”

Xu Nian coldly observed this group of people and truly felt that her previous punishment of them had been too lenient.

In just one day, they actually dared to get too big for their britches?

[That's how streamers should be—they should be taught a lesson!]

Look at how nervous Zhao Jinfeng is; I'm starting to suspect she's the one who orchestrated all of this.

If they weren't traveling in the same direction, the streamer would probably have gotten far away from them by now.

Xu Nian looked petite, yet she displayed such extraordinary abilities, leaving everyone dumbfounded and speechless.

Seeing the silence around her, Xu Nian lowered her eyes and raised her hand to make a talisman.

Wang Meng, who was lying on the ground in a daze, suddenly jolted awake and scrambled to his feet.

"Grandma, I was wrong!"

He was so disoriented by Xu Nian that he blurted out words of begging for mercy, "I will never dare to do this again. If I do it again, may I be struck by lightning!"

Wang Meng muttered incoherently, his body covered in bruises, a sight that was unsettling to behold.

Immediately afterwards, Xu Nian woke up the men who had been drowsy.

When those people woke up, they frantically begged for mercy, fearing that they would suffer such pain again.

"You should be thankful that my brother is alright, otherwise—"

As she spoke, Xu Nian's eyes sharpened, "This matter is not so simple!"

Upon hearing this, the people around Xu Nian looked at him with a newfound sense of awe.

These people have been made to look like this, and it's only because Xu Nian took pity on them?

If the people in the neighboring village only felt they should respect Xu Nian because of Gu Zhan at first, they now truly admire her.

Such awe-inspiring supernatural power, if it were Xu Nianxiang, she could probably crush them with a single finger!

The group gathered together, each secretly vowing never to provoke Xu Nian again.

What happened?

Gu Zhan arrived late and frowned involuntarily when he saw the mess on the ground.

He then turned his gaze to the little girl, carefully examining her from head to toe. Finding no signs of injury, he was relieved.

She must not have suffered any injustice.

"These people are ungrateful and kidnapped my brother. Luckily, Xiaobai arrived in time."

Xu Nian explained in detail, then turned to look at the docile, kitten-like Xiao Bai beside her, her eyes almost crinkling with laughter.

This time, it was all thanks to Xiaobai's timely arrival; otherwise, the consequences could have been far more severe!

"I was worried it would get bored staying in the military camp all day, so I put it in the forest to keep it. Today I see that I did a good job."

Gu Zhan raised his hand to stroke Xiaobai's snow-white fur, and seeing its blissful expression, he rarely praised it, "Well done, extra treat for tonight."

"Awoo!"

The little white cat is extremely intelligent; upon hearing that it was going to have an extra meal, it wagged its tail with extra gusto.

"We also want to thank Xiaobai!"

When Da Bao and Er Bao saw that their older sister had finished speaking, they rushed over, their eyes sparkling.

Upon hearing this, Xu Nian chuckled softly, "How are you going to thank me?"

Immediately afterwards, Da Bao and Er Bao tumbled out and worked together to pick the apple, then presented it to Xiao Bai like a treasure.

"We went through a lot of trouble to pick these, Xiaobai, have some!"

Xiao Bai, of course, didn't stand on ceremony and wolfed down the apple.

Seeing the two children, who seemed unharmed, squat down to play with Xiaobai, Xu Nian's previously anxious heart couldn't help but relax.

It's a stroke of luck that my two younger brothers escaped unharmed.

Xu Nian thought so too.

If Da Bao and Er Bao really encountered some misfortune, she would probably be completely enraged today.

The two chatted for a while, and Xu Nian was preparing to go back when she suddenly noticed an unmissable gaze.

She looked up and found Zhao Jinfeng staring intently at her, muttering something to herself.

Seeing this, Xu Nian smiled and strode over.

"You are not Xu Nian!"

Zhao Jinfeng stared at Xu Nian nervously for a long while before finally uttering these words.

Upon hearing this, a hint of interest flashed in Xu Nian's eyes, but she did not respond.

Seeing her like this, Zhao Jinfeng became even more certain, "You're definitely not that slut! She's timid, how could she possibly use some kind of sorcery?"

Who are you?!

Faced with Zhao Jinfeng's aggressive approach, Xu Nian was slightly surprised.

I never imagined that my second aunt wasn't so stupid.

[I really underestimated her; she actually figured out who the streamer was.]

But so what? Even if she told everyone, no one would believe her.

Besides, the streamer is fearless; talking to her about this won't do any good.

Xu Nian thought so too. She walked slowly to Zhao Jinfeng, her face full of teasing, "Why are you saying all this, Second Aunt?"

She wasn't afraid of Zhao Jinfeng at all; her eyes held a half-smile.

"What do you think I should do? I'm going to tell them that you're a witch!"

Seeing the fleeting threat in Xu Nian's eyes, Zhao Jinfeng felt extremely flustered, but she still gritted her teeth and said.

Even if those villagers value Xu Nian now, so what?

Once she tells the truth, everyone will surely notice something amiss.

Then Xu Nian will be all alone and helpless!

Thinking this, Zhao Jinfeng instantly felt incredibly clever, and a smile appeared on her face. "If you don't want this matter to be exposed, you'd better beg for mercy now, and perhaps I..."

Her words caught in her throat, unable to come out or come back down.

Because Xu Nian's hand had already quickly grabbed her collar, and her pretty face instantly got several inches closer to hers.

"You're welcome to try and see who begs for mercy then."
