Chapter 113 Han Chen’s Confession (1)

The tenth day of the fourth month is auspicious and suitable for marriage.

Today was a school holiday, and everyone was home, so Mingwen didn't have to ask for leave. Xuemei, Shengnan, and Qingya had arrived at the educated youth center early in the morning, and now, along with He Jing, they were accompanying He Wanting. They had asked Xuemei and the others to wait until Mingwen had taken Mingwu, Ruirui, and the others through the male educated youth stage.

When Mingwen took He Wanting back to the old house on his bicycle, Xuemei was already helping in the kitchen. This time, Mingwen and He Wanting were getting married, and since He Wanting's relatives couldn't come, they only needed to prepare four tables of food.

Only Liu's mother, Wang Shuihua, Juhua, and Xuemei were in the kitchen, with Xuemei and Liu's mother in charge again. Wang Shuihua prepared six dishes, Xuemei prepared stir-fried peas, stewed potatoes with meat, and a kelp salad, while Liu's mother prepared braised pork with preserved vegetables, tofu soup, and stir-fried lettuce with dried chili powder.

After Xuemei finished cooking, Wang Shuihua asked her to bring some food to He Wanting first. She had gotten up before dawn to prepare, so she must be hungry now!

"Wanting, my second mother asked me to bring you some food to fill your stomach!" Xuemei knocked on the door. When He Wanting opened the door, Xuemei walked in with a tray containing a bowl of rice, a bowl of vegetables and a bowl of soup.

"Xuemei, you are so nice. I am really hungry now. I only had an egg in the morning." He Wanting's eyes lit up when she saw the food.

Xuemei smiled, then said to He Jing, who was standing next to He Wanting, "Xiao Jing, go find the other educated youth! We'll have dinner soon!"

He Jing looked at the food in Xuemei's hand, swallowed her saliva, and forgot to say anything to He Wanting before going out.

"Xiaojing is hungry too. The dishes cooked by you and your mother look very appetizing. Xuemei, give it to me! I can do it myself. You should go out and eat too!" He Wanting took the tray and said.

"Okay, take your time eating here. I'll go out and help! When you're done, just put your dishes here. I'll come get them later! Oh, and this is a wedding red envelope for you and my second brother. Sister-in-law, keep it safe!"

He Wanting blushed when Xuemei called her "Second Sister-in-law". After a moment's pause, she said, "Thank you, Xuemei!"

Xuemei gave Mingwen and He Wanting a dollar because she felt that what the newlyweds lacked most was money.

"Alright, why are you being so polite to me? You are not only my sister-in-law now, but also my good friend. I hope you and my brother will live a happy and happy life!"

Although He Wanting was shy, she still said firmly: "I will manage our life well!"

After lunch, Xuemei, Qingya and others helped to clear the table and then went home. Wang Shuihua asked Mingwu and Juhua to wash the dishes.

When Xuemei and her brothers and sisters were about to reach the door of their house, they saw Han Chen waiting there.

"Han Zhiqing, do you have something to talk to my father about? He went to work with my mother after dinner." Xuemei asked as she approached.

"I'm not here to see the village chief, I'm here to see you! Comrade Liu Xuemei." Han Chen looked at Xuemei nervously and said.

Xuemei looked at Han Chen in confusion, then checked that no one was passing by. She pushed open the gate and said, "Han Zhiqing, come inside and talk!"

Han Chen followed Xuemei into the courtyard. After Xuemei closed the gate, Han Chen looked at Qingya and the other two beside Xuemei and said embarrassedly, "I want to talk to you alone, is that okay?"

Qing Ya glared at Han Chen the moment he finished speaking. Ever since Ming Wen and He Wanting's relationship became official, almost no one in the village had discussed them anymore. But recently, rumors about Xue Mei and Han Chen had intensified. Many older people in the village believed Xue Mei should marry Han Chen, just like He Wanting.

Liu's father and mother have been very troubled by this matter for the past half month. After knowing that it was Yi Jiao and Liu Laizi who were behind it, Liu's mother specially asked someone to expose all the bad things Yi Jiao and Liu Laizi had done.

But Yi Jiao and Liu Laizi had a bad reputation to begin with, so these things didn't bother them at all, and they didn't take them seriously at all! This really pissed off Liu's mother, but only after being comforted by Liu's father and Xuemei did she finally let go of the matter.

Liu's father and mother also discussed with Xuemei that if any male homosexual minded this matter in the future, Xuemei would accept a live-in son-in-law. Anyway, Xuemei had a formal job and could support herself, so she didn't want to be picked on by her in-laws because of these trivial matters.

Qingya came home last week and learned about the village gossip. She had planned to secretly teach Liu Laizi a lesson the next day with Ruirui, but when she woke up the next day, she heard from the villagers that Liu Laizi had gone to the next village the previous night to drink and play cards, and on his way home he fell into a pit and broke his leg. Liu Laizi is still bedridden at home, and even Grandma Li has to hand him his meals every day.

Han Chen looked at the unhappy Qingya and the puzzled Xuemei and explained, "I won't do anything bad to you. It's just that there are some things I can't say with them around. Just give me ten minutes... No, five minutes will do? Is that okay, Comrade Liu Xuemei?"

Xuemei thought for a moment and said, "Then come with me to Ruirui's room. Qingya, take your brothers here to play for a while before coming back in!"

After Xuemei entered the room, Qingya shook off Feifei's hand and said, "Why did you just not allow me to speak? This Han Zhiqing is really troublesome. Doesn't he know what the villagers have been saying about him and my elder sister recently? Did he do it on purpose?"

"Second sister, Brother Han is not that kind of person. Maybe he really has something important to do?" Feifei defended.

"You are still young and you don't understand. No, I have to go and listen to what he wants to say to big sister." Qingya said and walked towards Ruirui and Feifei's room.

Feifei quickly grabbed Qingya's arm and said, "Second sister, eldest sister asked us to wait here, you can't eavesdrop. Ruirui, come and help me hold second sister!"

Ruirui came over and grabbed Qingya's other arm. Qingya rolled her eyes at the two people holding her down and said, "Alright, let me go! I'm not going to listen anymore!"

Ruirui and Feifei looked at each other and shook their heads at Qingya, indicating that they did not believe her.
