Chapter 191: Broken Relations (2)

Seeing Han Chen's skeptical expression, Lin Songguo decided to change the subject. He asked seriously, "Xiaochen, I have something to tell you. Your mother-in-law and her family sent two gifts and letters to Zhang Lin, but they didn't respond at all. Why didn't you tell me? Didn't you tell Xuemei and her family about your relationship with your mother?"

"When I confessed my feelings to Xuemei, I told her about my situation, and my parents also knew about it. They were afraid that Xuemei and I would have a bad reputation because of this, so they asked us to send her some gifts during the holidays!" Han Chen explained.

"This only shows that Xuemei's parents are kind and righteous people. More importantly, they love you too much and consider you in every aspect. But the first time you sent something to Zhang Lin, she didn't even reply to a letter. You should have stopped sending her anything. At least you should have told us about it so that we can deal with it!" Lin Songguo said a little angrily.

Han Chen knew that he had done something wrong and apologized, "I'm sorry, Grandpa, I didn't handle it properly!"

Lin Songguo said unhappily with a stern face, "You shouldn't apologize to me, you should apologize to Xuemei and your parents, and even more so, you should apologize to yourself.

Zhang Lin's behavior appears to be disrespectful towards Xuemei and her family, but in reality, it is disrespectful towards you and a slap in your face. This shows that she doesn't consider you her son at all.

"You've been avoiding this point, not only looking down on yourself, but also causing Xuemei and her family to be looked down upon by Zhang Lin and others, and to suffer in vain! Think about it yourself, isn't this the truth?"

Han Chen lowered his head and was silent for a moment before answering, "Grandpa, you're right. I was actually the one who still had expectations of her. I kept avoiding what she did to me, and sometimes I even made all kinds of excuses and justifications for her. I was wrong. I looked down on myself and underestimated myself, which led to Xuemei and the others not receiving the treatment they deserved!"

"I'm glad you understand. I'll go down first. You calm down here! Remember to sign your name. There is red ink on the table." Lin Songguo sighed, slowly stood up and said.

Xuemei, who was reading picture books with the Lin Jin brothers on the sofa in the living room, saw Lin Songguo coming down the stairs. She hurried forward and helped Lin Songguo down the stairs by the arm. Lin Songguo's legs were injured on the battlefield in his early years. They would hurt when the weather was bad, and it would be even more uncomfortable in winter. Now he spends most of his time sitting on the kang, except when he goes to the study to handle affairs.

Xuemei helped Lin Songguo sit down on the sofa in the living room before asking, "Grandpa, what is Han Chen still doing upstairs?"

"I asked him to help me tidy up the study!" Lin Songguo replied as he lowered his head and patted his legs.

"Then should I go up and help him?" Xuemei asked Lin Songguo tentatively, fearing that there might be important documents in the study and Lin Songguo didn't want her help.

Lin Songguo waved his hand and said, "He's a grown man, and he doesn't need help with this little work! He can do it himself."

After Lin Songguo finished speaking, he looked around and asked, "Xuemei, where are the other people at home?"

Xuemei replied, "Sister-in-law is washing clothes in the shower room. Uncle Hu just had someone call him. They said the logistics department has brought in some goodies and asked him to hurry up!"

Lin Songguo nodded, then said, "I'll go back to my room to take care of some things first!"

Xuemei nodded and walked over to help Lin Songguo up. Lin Songguo shook his head, slowly stood up and went back to his room.

Feng Ru came out after washing clothes, but Han Chen had not come down yet. Xuemei thought that she might not go to Han Chen's mother's house in the morning, so she took the novel she borrowed from Feng Ru back to her room and sat on the kang to read it.

After reading for an hour, Xuemei put the book away and was about to get up from the bed to walk around and stretch her body when she heard the sound of the door being pushed open.

Then Han Chen came in with a few pieces of paper in his hand. Xuemei looked up and saw that it was Han Chen who came in. She continued to move to the edge of the kang. When she was about to put on her shoes, Han Chen sat on the edge of the kang and hugged her.

Xuemei hugged Han Chen and asked, "What's wrong?"

Han Chen said in a muffled voice: "Nothing, I just suddenly wanted to hug you!"

Xuemei felt that something was wrong with Han Chen's voice, so she pushed Han Chen's arms away and used her hands to turn Han Chen's face towards her. She found that Han Chen's eyes were a little red.

Xuemei touched Han Chen's face and asked gently, "What did Grandpa say to you? It's not related to your mother's side, right?"

Han Chen nodded dejectedly, reached out and picked up the things on the bed and handed them to Xuemei, saying, "Xuemei, you'll know when you take a look!"

Then Han Chen took off his shoes and got on the kang. Xuemei also sat in the middle of the kang. Just as she was about to take out the letter from the envelope to read it, she saw Han Chen lying sideways with his head resting on her thighs and his hands around her waist.

Xuemei thought Han Chen was wronged, so she reached out and touched Han Chen's head, comforting him before unfolding the letter to read the contents.

When Xuemei saw the contents on the letter, her face was filled with shock at first, and then with heartache for Han Chen. Xuemei folded the letter along the original traces, put it in an envelope, and threw the envelope aside.

Then Xuemei bent down, holding Han Chen's head with one hand and stroking his hair with the other, saying with a distressed look on her face: "She doesn't want you, she has no vision. You still have me, my parents, your brothers and sisters, and Grandpa Lin and his family. We will all treat you well!"

Han Chen hugged Xuemei's waist tightly, put his face close to her belly and said, "Xuemei, I'm fine now. When I first heard what grandpa said, I was very angry, but now I feel very fortunate. I have finally broken free from her bondage and will no longer care about her attitude and behavior. I think this is also a kind of relief for me!"

Xuemei watched Han Chen pretending to be fine and did not expose him. Xuemei knew that although Han Chen acted as if he didn't care about her mother in the past, he was always looking forward to her mother writing back to him or calling him. Now that his mother suddenly wanted to break up with him, he must be very sad and lost in his heart, not as free and easy as he looked!

Xuemei lowered her head and kissed Han Chen's forehead, saying gently, "Han Chen, you are a very good person. I hope you won't look down on yourself and feel sad for people who are not worthy!"

Xuemei felt Han Chen hug her waist tighter, and then said: "I like you, just because you are you, you deserve my love. My family hopes that you will treat me well because you deserve it!"

After hearing what Xuemei said, Han Chen got up from Xuemei's legs, looked at Xuemei with a loving face, then hugged Xuemei and kissed her. This kiss was more passionate than any other.

Han Chen now urgently needs to feel that others need him. Han Chen first gently placed his warm fingertips on Xuemei's lips and gently stroked them. His breath lingered around Xuemei's ears, and he called Xuemei's name over and over again, his voice low and rich.

It was not until Xuemei could no longer hold back and shouted "Han Chen, Han Chen, Han Chen" several times that Han Chen covered Xuemei's mouth heavily.
