Chapter 214: Sharing Gifts (2)

After teasing Qingya and her two siblings, Xuemei started taking things out of the two backpacks.

First, she took out a military coat from the big backpack, and then opened the lid of the small backpack. Xuemei had already put the camera in there, put it in a paper box and placed it on the top of the backpack.

Xuemei first put the camera aside, took out a military uniform, then took out ten silk scarves and said to everyone, "This military coat was given by Aunt Lin, and this new military uniform was given by Xiaochen's second sister, Aunt Lin's daughter. Mother, you decide how to distribute them?"

Mother Liu took the clothes and said happily, "This military uniform is very precious. We will have to send them some more things later. The package your uncle sent a few days ago also contained a new military uniform."

Mother Liu then said to Qingya and her two siblings, "Now we have two new military uniforms and a military coat at home. Qingya, Ruirui, and Feifei, you three can choose among them. If you choose the uniforms, you won't get the coats!"

As soon as Mrs. Liu finished speaking, the three furry heads gathered together to discuss.

Xuemei looked at the three immature guys in front of her and shook her head, then said, "Mom, this is the silk scarf I bought from Beijing City. You and Qingya pick one. Qingya, come over here and choose a scarf first!"

Mother Liu looked at the silk scarves on the table and said, "Why did you buy so many? This is a waste of money!"

"Mom, five of them are for my colleagues. As for the remaining three, when I send packages later, I will send one each to my eldest aunt and fourth aunt, and one to Shengnan as a wedding gift." Xuemei explained.

Only then did Liu's mother stop preaching and she and Qingya each chose a scarf. Liu's mother chose a blue one and Qingya chose a yellow one.

Xuemei waited until they had finished choosing before taking two red ones and one blue one. She collected the rest and would take them to the supply and marketing cooperative tomorrow.

Xuemei packed up her scarf and suddenly slapped her head, saying, "I have something good here. I almost forgot!"

After Xuemei finished speaking, she took out a cloth bag from her backpack, put it on the table, and then said to Liu's father: "Dad, come here quickly, there are some good things here!"

When Father Liu heard this, he came over and asked curiously, "What good stuff?"

Xuemei took out a wine box from her cloth bag, handed it to Father Liu, and said, "Dad, this is Moutai. I brought you a bottle."

Father Liu quickly took the wine box, placed it on the table, and then carefully unwrapped it and took out the Moutai from it. Without even opening the lid, he put it under his nose and sniffed it. He said with an intoxicated look on his face, "This is really good stuff, good wine. I have to keep it well and drink it when I have good things in the future!"

After saying this, Father Liu carefully put the wine bottle back into the wine box, then took it to the room with a happy step and put it away.

Seeing his father's happy expression, Mother Liu said happily, "Your gift has touched your father's heart. He must treasure this bottle of wine!"

"Dad, as long as you like it! I have some food here, chocolate. These wines and chocolates were bought by Han Chen with the foreign exchange coupons given by his eldest brother and sister-in-law?" Xuemei explained.

"This must be very expensive, right? The packaging looks so beautiful. You two have gained a lot from this trip to Beijing. Han Chen's uncle and aunt are really generous. You two have to think about them in the future!" Liu's mother exclaimed.

Xuemei and Han Chen nodded to show that they understood.

Xuemei distributed the remaining 18 chocolate balls according to the number of people in the family, giving two to each person, and the remaining four to Liu's father and mother, and everyone shared the wafer chocolate biscuits.

Xuemei finished distributing the food, cleared her throat, and said, "Now I'm going to introduce something very important to you all. Everyone, pay attention and don't blink!"

Han Chen smiled at Xuemei's antics, but he still stared at her like everyone else in the family.

Xuemei put the camera box on the table, opened it, took out the camera, and said happily, "Han Chen and I bought a camera in Beijing City, and also bought a lot of film. From now on, we can take pictures ourselves. We don't have to go to a photo studio. We just need to spend a few cents to develop the photos!"

"Sister, is it really a camera? I want to see it!" After Ruirui said that, he came to the table with Qingya and Feifei. Father Liu also came over curiously.

Mother Liu looked at the father and son who were taking pictures and were about to touch them. She stopped them anxiously and said, "Be careful, don't mess around and break the camera!"

Xuemei comforted him, "Mom, it's okay. The camera isn't that fragile. It won't break if you touch it. Dad, Han Chen and I have learned how to use it. When we have time, Han Chen will teach you!"

As soon as Xuemei finished speaking, Qingya and the other two ran to Han Chen and looked at him expectantly. Han Chen straightened his back and said, "I'll teach you when I'm free in the afternoon of the 15th. It's not difficult."

After Han Chen finished speaking, he looked at Mr. and Mrs. Liu, who were staring at the camera with interest, and added, "Dad and Mom, you guys should learn together then!"

Father and Mother Liu nodded. Mother Liu looked at the camera for a moment, then suddenly raised her head and said to Xuemei with a serious face, "Xuemei, didn't you and Xiaochen only take 150 yuan to Beijing? This camera is not cheap, it must have cost at least 200 yuan, and you bought so many things. Where did you two get so much money?"

"Ah? Oh!" Xuemei felt a little guilty at Liu's mother's sudden question. After she recovered, she explained, "The money for the camera and gifts came from the wedding red envelopes given to Han Chen and me by Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin's family. Grandpa Lin alone gave me a huge red envelope of 108 yuan!"

Liu's mother and father looked at each other in surprise and said, "Why is it so much? Did you two just accept it?" After saying this, Liu's mother looked at Xuemei with dissatisfaction.

Han Chen hurried over and explained, "Dad, Mom, this isn't Xuemei's fault. Grandpa and my uncle and aunt wanted to use the gift we gave Xuemei to make up for the money I paid for the ginseng. The camera isn't as expensive as you think. It's much cheaper in Beijing than what we bought it for. Including the six rolls of film we bought, the total cost is over 160 yuan."

"Xiaochen, it's your duty to give your grandfather ginseng. It's a sign of filial piety. In short, your uncle Lin and his family treat you as their own child. You and Xuemei must understand this in the future and don't let their kindness down!" said Liu's mother.

Father Liu also continued: "The Lin family has been so kind to you, and you two should be the same. When you need something in the future, just tell your family and get it from them. We have also benefited a lot!"

Han Chen nodded and replied, "Don't worry, Dad and Mom. Xuemei and I know everything. We've recorded the gifts from my uncle and aunt in our notebook!"

Only then were Liu's father and mother satisfied and stopped talking about this topic.
