On the 28th day of the third lunar month, Liu Guanghui's family held a full-moon banquet for little Liu Shulan. In fact, the girl had been one month old for a few days, but Liu Guanghui's family chose this day specifically because it was a good day and everyone at home, whether working or studying, had a day off.
After more than 30 days of growth, little Nannan is very different from when she was just born. Xuemei and Hanchen also gave little Nannan a red envelope of one yuan each, while Liu's mother made Nannan a pair of tiger-head shoes and a bib. Nannan could only wear the tiger-head shoes in winter.
After lunch, Mingwen held Nannan in his arms and showed her off to the men. Nannan was a very good-natured baby. According to Wang Shuihua, she was just like Mingwen when he was a child. She would sleep when she was full, and would cry for a few times when she was hungry or had peed, and would stop when the adults came over. She was very quiet and had no temper.
The child was taken away by Mingwen, and He Wanting also walked to Xuemei and the others, moved a chair and sat down.
He Wanting spent the entire confinement period, only washing her hair on the afternoon of the 21st of this month and taking her first proper bath in a month that evening. He Wanting's confinement was excellent, and her complexion and health have recovered well. She now weighs around 116 pounds, a good ten pounds more than before pregnancy, but she looks fine. "I'm just thinking about getting pregnant as soon as possible so that I can feel more comfortable during the confinement period. It would be so annoying if I had to be in confinement during the hot summer!" Xinyan replied.
"Yeah, the first half of this month was fine for me. The weather was neither too cold nor too hot. But I felt uncomfortable in the second half. The temperature rose and I could only wipe my body with hot water in the room. I didn't wash my hair for a whole month. The smell was so strong in the last few days that I wanted to vomit. On the day I left the confinement period, after washing my hair and doing exercises, I felt like I had lost five pounds!" He Wenting complained.

He Wanting nodded solemnly and said, "Of course, this is true. It must be very uncomfortable to be in confinement in the middle of summer. Shengnan, Xuemei, when are you two going to have children? Or you can do what my sister-in-law did and start now. Then, when the four of us have children that are close in age, we can play together and go to school together!"
When Shengnan heard this, she replied embarrassedly, "Maybe I'm pregnant?"
Xuemei looked at Shengnan beside her in surprise and asked, "Really? Did you go to Sister Wu to see it?"
Shengnan replied, "My period hasn't come yet, even though it's usually over by this time. Also, the loach and eel I ate last night tasted fishy. I haven't told my mom yet, but I plan to go to the health clinic later."

Sometimes they even went fishing in the creek. During school holidays, he took Qingya, her siblings, and Juhua to the creek to catch shrimp. He Wanting said quickly when she heard it, "That should be almost certain. I remember you said your menstruation is normal. You should take your brother-in-law to the clinic right now. It's just a short distance away. Remember to let us know if there's any good news!"
"Go now?" Shengnan asked back.
Xuemei and Xinyan also nodded. Shengnan then stood up, walked to Mingwen and called Zhang Wanlin away. The two of them walked towards the health room together.
After Shengnan left, He Wanting looked at Xuemei again and asked, "What about you? When are you and Han Chen going to have a child? What do you think of my suggestion?"
Xuemei thought for a moment and said, "I need to think about it again. I've only been married for four months. I originally planned not to have children within six months of marriage!"
"It's not like you can get pregnant immediately if you want to. I think you can get ready now!" Xinyan persuaded.
He Wanting also agreed: "That's right, sister-in-law is right!"
"Okay, I'll go home and ask Han Chen first!" Xuemei replied.
Just as He Wanting opened her mouth and wanted to say something, Wang Shuihua came over with her daughter in her arms and said, "Wanting, Nannan seems hungry. Go back to the room and feed her!"
