Liu's mother carried a bag and took Feng Ru and the other two to the new brick house. Han Chen and Liu's father followed behind, carrying things.
After Han Chen went to Beijing and came back after the first phone call, Liu's father and mother knew that Feng Ru and others would come to live in Liu's house for a while. Liu's father and mother took Qingya and her two siblings to lay the wooden floor in the outer room next to the main hall of the new brick house. After laying the floor, they smeared old newspapers on the wall.
After cleaning the room, they moved the double bunk bed from Qingya's room over. Feng Ru and the others were in time, but Wang Weimin and Zhiqing, father and son, couldn't do it right away, so they had to wait for a while before the new double bunk bed could be ready.

Two chairs were stuffed under the square table, and a double bed with upper and lower bunks was placed against the wall to the right of the door. The workmanship was rather rough, and it was obvious that it was ordered by Liu's father himself. On the wooden frame was a new large wooden box. This was the one that Xuemei gave Liu's father the money to bring back when he went to Wang Weimin's house to order a bed.
Feng Ru looked at the clean and tidy room, her heart warmed, and she said gratefully: "Uncle, aunt, thank you for your hard work! You arranged such a good time for us!"
"It's not hard, it's just that the room is a little small. I wonder if you can get used to it?" Liu's mother said politely.
It was the first time for Lin Jin and Lin Ren to see bunk beds. Now that they were more familiar with the Liu family, they were more relaxed. When they saw the bunk beds, they would run over and touch this and that.
Feng Ru looked at the two brothers and said with a smile: "I like it very much, and these two little guys like it too!"

"No, auntie, we've brought a set of bedding over and you can just spread the quilt over it later!" Feng Ru replied.
Mother Liu nodded and said, "Then I'll ask Xiaochen to get a straw mat later!"
Feng Ru did not refuse this time, and Liu's mother also breathed a sigh of relief. There was no winter quilt at home. If Feng Ru and the others did not bring it, they would have to use Han Chen's old bedding from when he lived in the educated youth's residence. There was no new cotton last year, so it was still a bit cold at night.
Then Liu's mother and father said goodbye. Before leaving, they specifically told Feng Ru that there was a large iron pot of boiling water in the kitchen, and if the three of them wanted to take a bath, they could go to the bathroom now.
Feng Ru nodded happily when she heard this, then pulled her two sons over, took out a set of clothes for each of them from a bag, and asked Han Chen to take them to the bathroom to take a bath.
Lin Jin will be eight years old this winter, and Lin Ren will be five years old in the summer. Feng Ru let Lin Jin sleep alone last summer, and sometimes Lin Ren would go and sleep with his brother. Beijing is cold in winter, so if they are in Beijing, Lin Jin still sleeps on the kang with her.
Feng Ru had trained Lin Jin to bathe himself at home since the summer he was five years old. Lin Jin and Lin Ren's hair is not dark now, only three or four centimeters long. After washing, they can be half dry by wiping it with a dry towel. They are not afraid of freezing in the temperature in Liujia Village.
By the time the Lin Jin brothers returned from their showers, Feng Ru had already made the top bunk and packed the clothes she and her brothers had recently worn into a wooden box. Feng Ru still kept Lele's clothes and two bags of malted milk in a rattan box, but she had removed the clothes Lele had soiled.
Feng Ru walked over and touched the brothers' hair. When it was almost dry, she asked, "Who wiped your hair?"
"Grandpa and grandma are here. Grandma also told us to go back to the room and have a nap so we can have a big meal when we wake up!" Lin Jin said happily.
"Have you thanked your grandparents?" Feng Ru asked.
Lin Jin and Lin Ren nodded their heads. Feng Ru patted the brothers' heads and said, "You are both good and sensible children. Go to bed and get some sleep!"
Feng Ru helped the two children onto the upper bunk. Looking at the two extremely excited brothers, Feng Ru threatened, "You two, stop making noise up there and sleep well. If I knew you were making noise up there, I wouldn't call you when your grandparents make something delicious!"
The two chirping little sparrows then covered their mouths and stopped talking, and stopped pushing each other with their hands.
Then, Feng Ru took the clothes to the bathroom, took a shower and washed her hair. While waiting for her hair to dry, she went to the well in the yard to scrub the clothes that the mother and her two children had just changed. After hanging the clothes in the yard to dry, it was already 4:30 in the afternoon. Feng Ru was tired and sleepy now. She touched her hair and found it was almost dry. She didn't plan to wash Lele's dirty diaper anymore. She would do it after dinner.
