"Mom, I don't think I've ever seen my uncle?" Qingya asked while hitting the grass on the roadside with a stick.
"Your two younger brothers haven't seen it, but you and your eldest sister have seen it, but you may not remember it. Your eldest sister was only a few years old at the time, and you were just a few months old."
"Mom, what does my uncle look like? How tall is he?"
"Your uncle is quite good-looking. He looks like your grandma and grandpa. He's two or three centimeters shorter than your father."
"Mom, Dad is back. Why don't you go with him on his bike first? Qingya and I will follow behind." Father Liu set out half an hour in advance and took the two little ones to grandma's house on his bike. Now he came back to pick them up.
"Mother, come with me first. You still have your things. Xuemei, Qingya, I'll come pick you up later."
"Dad, no need. It's only ten miles away. We'll be almost there if you go there and come back. You can just rest at grandma's house. Qingya and I won't be carrying anything anyway. Right, Qingya?"
"Well, Dad, you don't have to come pick me and my elder sister up."
"Okay, then you can go by yourselves. Dad will take you back when you go home."
"Sister, what do you think my aunt looks like? Is she pretty?"
"How would I know? I don't even know if I've ever met her. Compared to my aunt, I'm more curious about her twin cousins. Do they look exactly alike? For example, even people who don't know our Ruirui and Feifei well can't tell them apart."
"Sister, I'm curious too, but I want to meet my second cousin even more. I want to compete with him."
"I don't know if my second cousin's school is on holiday. My third cousin's school at the provincial military academy hasn't had a holiday yet this year."
"When my third cousin comes back, I want to compete with him. He came back last summer and said he wouldn't fight with elementary school students. Now that I've graduated from elementary school, I'm no longer an elementary school student. He should be willing to fight with me."
"Third cousin was afraid of hurting you then. He should be willing to play with you when he comes back this summer."
Xuemei poked Qingya's head with her finger and said, "Why are you grinning like that? It's creepy."
Qingya smiled innocently, "Sister, you said that my second cousin is from Huajun University, which is a better school than my third cousin. If I can beat my second cousin, then beating my third cousin will be a piece of cake."
Xuemei rolled her eyes at Qingya and said, "You're dreaming, aren't you? Don't overestimate yourself just because you're strong and have learned some martial arts. Didn't you hear what your third cousin said? Military training involves all kinds of physical training every day. Your third cousin is almost as strong as Dad. You're still a long way from being as good as him."
"Sister, I'm just thinking about it. Why are you trying to discourage me? I'll teach them a lesson. Humph."
"Still humming, you little pig, I want you to see your own strength clearly. But your current strength is pretty good in the village."
Qing Ya said proudly: "Of course not."
"Weidong, look at the two girls in front. Are they from our village? Do you want to give them a ride?" Grandma Wang said while sitting on the ox cart and looking at the backs of the two girls in front.
"Okay, let me go to the front and see whose girl it is."
"Third uncle, third uncle..." Qingya noticed Wang Weidong driving an ox cart nearby.
"Qingya, Xuemei, it's you two. Your grandma just said they were two girls from a certain family." Wang Weidong stopped the ox cart, and the two bicycles following behind also stopped.
Qingya and Xuemei walked to the ox cart.
"Third uncle, grandma, grandpa, third aunt..." Xuemei and her sister shouted at the people sitting on the ox cart.
"They've grown taller and prettier, now two grown-up girls. Grandma hasn't been back for a few years, and I can hardly recognize them."
"That's right, I didn't recognize him either. I'm really old and my eyesight is not so good anymore." Grandpa Wang also said.
"Grandma and Grandpa, you are still as young as before, right Qingya?" Qingya also nodded in agreement.
"Grandma, where are my uncle and the others? Didn't they say they're back too?"
"Behind you, your uncle, aunt, cousin, and two younger brothers and sisters have all returned."
Xuemei and Qingya turned and saw two bicycles parked side by side behind them. A middle-aged man and woman disembarked from one of the bicycles. The man was sturdy, tanned, and gentle-looking, looking 60% like their grandmother and 40% like their grandfather. The woman was about the same height as Qingya, with fair skin and a delicate face, and looked to be in her thirties.
A young man in his twenties got off the other bike. He was muscular and resembled the middle-aged man, but with a lighter complexion and a slightly taller figure, about 1.8 meters. A little boy and a little girl sat on the front and back of the bike, respectively. The boy had delicate features and resembled a middle-aged woman, while the girl looked a bit like the grandmother, but more like a middle-aged man.
"Hello, uncle, aunt, second cousin, younger cousin, and younger cousin." Xuemei pulled Qingya over and shouted.
"Xuemei, Qingya, you've grown up so much. The last time your uncle came back, Qingya was only a few months old, and your uncle even held you in his arms! Your uncle brought you gifts and will give them to you when he gets home."
"Thank you, uncle," said Xuemei and her sister.
"Xuemei and Qingya, you are getting more and more beautiful. I couldn't recognize you. Why are there only two of you?" asked my aunt Yang Wanru.
"My dad rode his bicycle to take my mom and two younger brothers to grandma's house first. When he came to pick up mom just now, Qingya and I saw that they were not far away, so we asked him not to come and pick us up." Xuemei explained.
"Sister-in-law, Xuemei, stop chatting. The sun is too strong and it's very hot. Let's go home and talk slowly. Xuemei, Qingya, the two of you come squeeze in the oxcart."
"Third uncle, the ox cart is loaded with so many things, can the ox still pull it?" Qing Ya asked.
