Shao Linyin didn't expect that he could sleep until six o'clock and be woken up by the alarm clock. He hadn't slept so comfortably in a long time.

As usual, I took a quick look around after getting up. Tong Xiaolai was gone, and the quilt was neatly folded and placed at the end of the bed.

What puzzled him was that he remembered that he had clearly covered his face with a book when he slept, but now the books on the bedside were neatly arranged and not a single one was opened.

He just thought that he had closed the door in his sleep, and smiled while brushing his teeth. His sleep quality was getting better and better. Not only could he sleep through the night, he could even sleepwalk.

After I finished packing, I remembered something before leaving. I opened the refrigerator door and took a look. The corners of my mouth raised: "Not bad, I still remember to take it!"

Close the door and go out.

Today we were just finishing up some work on the construction site, so there wasn't much to do and the master arrived late.

The work was finished in one morning. All that was left was to hand over some on-site data and information to the clerk, and then wait for debugging, acceptance and certification. So the master took him back to the company to rest in the afternoon.

When they arrived at the company, there was only one clerk, Ms. Li, in the office; everyone else was out on field work.

Sister Li's name is Li Tingting. She graduated from a decent university and joined the company right after graduation. She has been working there for a year. She is lively and cheerful, and loves to chat with Shao Linyin. As long as he is in the company, Li Tingting's mouth will chat non-stop.

Just like now, they had just reached the door and before anyone came in, they heard Li Tingting's voice coming from the inner room: "Xiao Shao, I haven't seen you for several days, I miss you so much!"

The master teased him, "That girl who keeps yelling about wanting to chase you will soon come over and complain that I'm keeping you at the construction site and won't let you come back!"

He opened the glass door and let his master go in first, while saying helplessly, "Master, please spare me. Sister Li's boyfriend is upstairs!"

The master went into the lounge to rest. He put down his toolbox and came to Li Tingting's desk. He took out a piece of paper from his pocket with a lot of data written on it.

He took another quick look, confirmed there was nothing wrong, and handed it to Li Tingting: "Sister Li, this is the data for this construction site."

Li Tingting took it with a smile on her face and put it on the table. "I like people like you! As long as it's a construction site you're in charge of, it will take me almost an hour to prepare the materials!"

Then she stared at his face in a daze: "Tsk tsk tsk, if you weren't so much younger than me, I would have kicked Lao Qi out and chased you!"

Shao Liyin was always frightened when he first heard this, but he got used to it. Now he just smiled politely and prepared to go to the lounge.

Before he could even take a step, he was stopped again: "Wait, wait, wait, I'm not just thinking about you for no reason, I really have something to talk to you about!"

Shao Liyin raised her head with a puzzled look: "What's wrong, Sister Li? Is there something wrong?"

"Of course!" Li Tingting smiled brightly, "That's great!" She smiled but also a little annoyed, "Look at you, you didn't even tell me about your birthday and just spent it by yourself.

If it weren't for the company files, and I happened to flip through them, I wouldn't have known you were eighteen. It's just in time! If I had missed it, I'd have to wait another year."

Shao Linyin looked at her, waiting for her to get to the point.

Li Tingting dug out a form from a pile of documents and handed it to him: "Elevator Operator Certificate Examination Registration Form. With this certificate, your salary will be increased by 1,000 yuan. The most important thing is that you can be responsible for maintenance projects independently. How about it, I am thinking of you, right?"

Shao Liyin took the registration form and looked back at his master. His master looked at him and smiled: "Why are you looking at me? Fill it out quickly. You have good brains, so you have to learn more!"

Li Tingting smiled and said, "I have to remember you. Fill it out! I remember that your self-taught college certificate has come out, right? Everything is just right!"

Shao Linyin took a look and thought there was no harm in getting one more certificate, so he started filling it out.

Li Tingting looked at him and sighed, "Tsk, tsk, tsk, he's handsome, and his handwriting is beautiful too. This is unforgivable!"

Shao Liyin thought she was joking and asked casually, "When is the exam?"

"A month later, and a week later, the elevator safety manager."

"Security Manager?" Shao Linyin paused while filling in the form.

Li Tingting looked at him and said, "Yeah, what's the matter? That certificate only adds 500 yuan to your salary after passing it. I wanted to give you a more valuable one!"

Shao Linyin thought for a moment and said, "Well, can I take both exams at the same time? If I pass the exams, can I get extra money for both certificates?"

Li Tingting hesitated for a moment: "Of course, I can, but the registration has been delayed for a while. It's only been a month, so you don't have much time to prepare."

"It's okay, sister. Please give me the registration form for the security manager. I'll just apply. Maybe I'll pass!" Shao Linyin said half-jokingly.

"Okay then!" Li Tingting said as she took out another registration form and handed it to me. "Fill it out and give it to me. I'll record it into the system."

The new textbooks would not be available for another week. Before leaving get off work, he asked Li Tingting to look through some old textbooks they had used before.

Li Tingting reminded him that some specifications and standards for special equipment are updated every year, and these old textbooks may not be applicable.

"Thank you, sister. I know. I was free anyway, so I just flipped through it."

If he wasn't at the construction site, the company would get off work at five o'clock, so he prepared to go home with a bag of books.

The company is located in the city center, next to a large supermarket.

He thought about it for a while and then went to the supermarket first.

He was reluctant to go to the vegetable market or the fresh food supermarket in the village. These supermarkets were still acceptable. The vegetable and meat sections inside were relatively comfortable, spacious enough, and not so smelly.

only……

He went in for a walk and came out again...

He doesn't cook or buy vegetables, but he was indeed scared by the small green vegetables that cost 15 yuan per pound.

Compared to the high price, he could also bear to go to the fresh food supermarket in the village.

It was just after six when he got home. He put down his book, took a shower and went downstairs.

There is a gas stove and wok at home.

He bought an electric rice cooker, rice, oil, salt, two bowls, three plates, and most importantly, an insulated lunch box downstairs.

Then I bought some vegetables and meat.

He thought about it carefully. Tong Xiaolai was stubborn and he might not spend the money even if he was given it.

Since Tong Xiaolai didn't spend the money himself, he had no way of keeping an eye on him. Besides, even if he was angry, he couldn't really throw him out.

After much thought, the best way is to make it at home, put it in an insulated bucket and let him take it out.

Then he will definitely be able to eat.

But the problem arises again...

Shao Linyin, who is familiar with the operating principles of elevators and knows the intricate electrical wiring in the machine room, and can tell which part is causing the trouble when there is even a slight noise from the elevator, now looks at an electric rice cooker with a bewildered look on his face.

After studying the instruction manual for half an hour, I finally managed to start it. However, forty-five minutes later, the rice came out the same way it went in, and it still had a burnt smell.

He thought about it for a while, then added some more water and continued steaming. Confident that it would be cooked this time, he got up and prepared to cook.

He stared at the piece of pork belly on the chopping board, holding the knife in one hand and... in the other... he didn't know what to do, but he didn't want to touch anything on the chopping board.

It's not that I haven't touched it before. Just thirty seconds ago, when my hand touched that soft and sticky thing, I was so scared that I shuddered. My heart was filled with goose bumps and my arms were covered with goose bumps.

He gestured left and right with the knife, not knowing where to start. Finally, he laughed at himself and threw the knife away.

His hands could lift bricks and steel plates, but they couldn't do anything to a piece of white pork belly...

He can't do anything with meat, but he can always do with vegetables.

So he turned on the gas stove again. He knew how to use it. After all, safety was paramount. Gas stoves in rental houses like this were the biggest safety hazard. The Fire Department required landlords to provide thorough training to every tenant...

Half an hour later, when Tong Xiaolai came back, he wondered if he had walked into the wrong house. He then stepped back to check the house number. It was 402, no doubt...

His eyes fell directly on Shao Liyin, who was sitting at the table in a slightly dejected manner. The fingers on his legs were still bleeding, and there were two purple-red blisters on his arms from being splashed with boiling oil...

He entered the house, put down the things in his hands, and went to the balcony to wash his hands. Then he found the iodine and gauze he bought last time, came to Shao Linyin's side, squatted down, took his hand, and began to carefully bandage the cut finger.

After dealing with these, he glanced at the silent Shao Linyin again, and after confirming that the person in front of him was just expressing frustration and had no other problems, he stood up and went to the small kitchen on the balcony...

On the cutting board was a lump of meat that looked like it had been torn apart by a wild animal. On the floor lay an open rice cooker. The thick layer of half-cooked rice stained the edge of the lid, silently telling me it hadn't been opened of its own accord. Inside the pot was a far larger volume of half-cooked rice than it could hold. On the stove sat a plate of something I couldn't identify, but judging by its shape, it looked like some kind of vegetable...

Tong Xiaolai took a quick look around and picked up the rice cooker that was already overloaded on his first day on the job. He scooped out half of the rice, leaving about enough for one meal, and added water. It was a bit difficult to cook rice, so he just cooked porridge.

Then he picked up the meat on the chopping board, washed it again, and with a flick of the knife, the piece of meat that Shao Linyin was helpless with turned into slices of even thickness in his hands.

Heat the oil in a pan, and in about half an hour, two plates of delicious dishes will be served on the table.

Shao Linyin looked at the two bowls of white porridge, a plate of stir-fried pork with chili peppers, and a plate of stir-fried Shanghai greens on the table, and then looked at Tong Xiaolai.

"Can you cook?"

Tong Xiaolai handed over the chopsticks and pushed the bowl of porridge over: "I used to make it occasionally. Have a try. It should taste okay."

Shao Liyin looked at the food on the table. It was something he had prepared to clean up after him. It looked like it wasn't something he made occasionally...

Tong Xiaolai’s cooking was really delicious. Shao Linyin drank two whole bowls of porridge with just two simple dishes, then leaned against the bed, his face pale and a little dazed, with sweat slightly on his forehead.

Tong Xiaolai looked at the pale Shao Linyin helplessly, cleaned up the dishes and went to the kitchen, washed them and put them away, then came out with a cup of hot water in his hand and handed it to him.

"Usually it's two mouthfuls, but today it's two bowls. If you don't feel pain, who will?"

"Who's in pain..." She wanted to make a few more excuses, but when she looked up and met Tong Xiaolai's eyes, she suddenly didn't want to endure it anymore. She took the hot water from his hand and pressed her cramping stomach with the other hand.

The young master's stomach is very bad-tempered. The owner didn't give him food a few days ago because he was tired, in pain, or angry. Today, he remembered him and decided to teach him a lesson.

The sharp cramps made Shao Linyin not want to talk for a moment. He squatted on the ground with his back slightly hunched, his thumb pressing against his stomach, and quietly endured the pain.

"Do you have any stomach medicine at home?" Tong Xiaolai asked, scanning the area.

This clean and simple house makes it easy to tell what's inside and what's not.

He still tried to ask, then looked at the person leaning against the bed and shook his head: "It hurts often, just endure it and it will go away. There's no need to take medicine."

As expected, just as he was about to go downstairs to buy some medicine, he was pulled back by someone. The person pulling him patted the floor next to him and he sat down.

Shao Linyin was still thinking about the things in her heart: "Did you have a good meal today?"

Tong Xiaolai didn't say anything. He rummaged in his pocket and took out a stack of money neatly stacked in descending denominations and handed it to him.

Shao Linyin looked at the money and didn't take it: "What are you giving it to me for?"

"living expenses."

"Are you sick?" He stuffed the money back in his mouth, and accidentally hurt his stomach, and his face turned pale again.

Tong Xiaolai didn't bother talking to him anymore. He put the money on the table, sat on the floor next to the bed, and looked at the slightly dim ceiling.

"Brother Li, I know why you suddenly want to cook."

“…?? If you want to eat it, just make it. Why should I ask why?”

"I saw the thermos."

“…That was me…”

"Your life is so simple that it's clear at a glance what you need and what you don't need."

“…”

“These things were bought for me.”

“…”

"Brother Li, I will eat well." Eat well and grow well, and then treat you well.

Shao Linyin was stunned, and then could only chuckle and pushed him to the bathroom to take a shower.
