underwear
The child applied the medicine very gently, as if he was afraid of hurting him.
He wasn't really afraid of the pain, it was just a psychological pain. When the iodine was really sprinkled on him, it felt like the tingling sensation of an ant bite, which was not on the same level as the pain of being stuck and then torn apart during the day.
He just sat quietly on the small plastic stool, staring at the two chopstick-like thin legs and feet with only bones but no flesh in front of him.
The child was actually not short, his slender legs were very long, about 1.6 meters. Now he was standing in front of him slightly sideways, bending a little, fiddling with his shoulders with both hands, and blowing a cool breeze at him from time to time, as if this could relieve the pain a little.
He chuckled softly: "You are quite good at taking care of people."
The child's hand paused, but only for a moment. Shao Linyin had just raised his head when the child pressed down on his shoulder again, telling him not to move. The last bit of iodine had been used up, and he felt a soft, cotton-padded gauze pressed against his shoulder.
"Okay." The child stepped aside.
Shao Linyin turned his head to look at his shoulder. A square piece of gauze was carefully fixed with medical tape. Some yellow medicine could be seen faintly. The packaging technique looked quite professional.
He stretched his shoulders and ruffled the child's hair: "Okay, let's eat! Go wash your hands first."
The child obediently washed his hands, but did not sit down to eat. He just stood aside against the wall.
Shao Linyin looked up in confusion.
The child said, "I'm not hungry. This is for you."
Shao Liyin: "..." You are not hungry, so that gurgling sound like a drum just now came from my stomach?
"I can't eat much at this time..." Before he finished speaking, he looked at the child standing next to him, with an attitude of an old monk in meditation, ready to move until the enemy can move him.
He stopped talking, opened the lunch box, and just like last night, he tore open the lid, took two bites into the lid, and pushed the rest back.
"Come on, these are for you."
The child hesitated.
"I can only eat these, and throw away the rest?"
The child finally moved over. Shao Liyin stood up with the two mouthfuls of rice on the lid and sat down beside the bed, leaving the small plastic stool vacant: "Sit here and eat slowly."
Shao Linyin took two bites, just two bites, and after finishing his meal, he threw the lid into the trash can. Then he got up to rinse his mouth and brush his teeth. He looked at the toothbrush, water cup and towel placed next to the sink, and always felt like something was missing.
I pondered it for a long time without figuring it out. After rinsing my mouth, I turned around and saw the bare feet of the child eating like a pilgrim, and suddenly I understood.
He picked up his keys, put on the T-shirt he was using as pajamas, and prepared to go out.
The child put down the bowl and stood up hurriedly: "Where are you going?"
He was startled by the child's reaction, then burst out laughing: "This is my house. Even if I don't like you, I will throw you out. Are you afraid that I will run away? You eat, I'll buy something and come up in a while."
As he walked downstairs, he wondered why he was always scared by such a child!
The small supermarket downstairs is run by the landlord himself, and it has all the necessary daily necessities. The biggest advantage is that it is open all night to cater to the tenants upstairs who work three shifts.
When Shao Linyin arrived, the boss was taking a nap on a recliner at the cashier's counter, and some anti-Japanese war movies were playing on the TV hanging on the wall.
He took some toothpaste, a toothbrush, a water cup, a towel, and finally a pair of plastic slippers and a small plastic stool. He went to the cashier's counter and knocked on the glass counter. The boss opened his eyes, looked at it twice, and then closed it again: "Hey, Xiao Shao, it's up to you."
"Okay, uncle, you fall asleep." As he said this, he added the total according to the price tag and scanned the code to pay.
There is a back door in the corner of the small supermarket. Most of the tenants in the building like to come out from the back door, get things and go back out from the back door. Shao Linyin does the same.
When I walked from the cashier counter to the back door, I saw men's underwear being sold in a corner when I was almost at the door. I guess because there were not many people buying them, the boss stuffed them into the corner.
Shao Linyin reached out and took a box, then turned back to the cashier, scanned the code to pay, and went out through the back door and went straight upstairs.
When he opened the door, he saw that the room was empty. The fried rice on the table was not finished yet and the child was nowhere to be found. He put down the plastic bag in his hand and looked around. The child's big woven bag was still there.
"This little brat!" He opened the door and went out to look for her again. "He only causes more trouble."
Shao Linyin felt that the temper he hadn't lost in the past five or six years was just a result of being stored up and waiting for a few days.
As soon as I got to the first floor and saw the child squatting by the iron gate, I was furious: "Didn't I tell you to wait? Why are you squatting here?"
The child stood up aggrievedly, his eyes still red, and it was obvious that he had swallowed back several tears: "I saw you haven't come back for a long time..."
Shao Liyin picked up her phone and waved it in front of him: "From the time I left home to the time I returned, it took no more than twenty minutes. How did it become half a day?"
"I..." The child looked aggrieved, "It just feels like a long time has passed..."
His feet were bare, and when he got nervous, he would step on the instep of his other foot, making it pitch black.
But he just couldn't bear to see the child in this state. All the anger was turning around in his stomach, but he really couldn't bear to express it.
He suddenly felt like he owed this guy something in his past life, and this guy came to collect the debt. He could only angrily throw out two words: "Go home!"
He turned around and went upstairs, with the sound of children following him.
As soon as she entered the house, she took the child to wash his feet. The water was black, and when she rubbed his feet, a layer of mud came out: "Look, you, I remember I asked you to take a bath last night, what did you wash?"
The child was too embarrassed to say that he had rubbed out a layer last night, but it had accumulated over time and could not be rubbed off in one day. After thinking for a long time, he said, "I haven't washed it yet. This is today's."
Shao Linyin: “…”
Finally, he simply rushed over to his body and rubbed his chest and back all over. However, as he rubbed, he didn't dare to use too much force because his back was full of bones and he was very narrow. He held the shower head in one hand and rubbed gently with the other hand, for fear that if he used too much force, he would break something.
He didn't dare to use too much force, and the child felt very uncomfortable. He just felt itchy all over his body. Finally, he couldn't bear it anymore and took the shower head and dodged: "I'll do it myself."
Shao Liyin didn't say much, and came out directly, took out the things she bought, and handed in the slippers and towel directly: "Use this towel to wipe them after you finish washing. Also, I don't know what size these slippers are for you, but I think you will still grow, so I bought a larger one. You can wear them at home for now."
The child had his back to him, rubbing the mud diligently, without saying a word or reaching out to take the towel. He simply hung it on the hook on the wall.
He opened the box of underwear again, and there were three pairs inside. He filled a basin with clean water, rinsed them, wrung out the water, hung up two pairs, held one in his hand, looked around, and finally walked to the only electric fan in the house. He held it in his hand and put it in front of the fan to blow.
When the child came out, he was naked again.
Shao Liyin couldn't stand it anymore. She looked away after just one glance. She put the underwear in her hand on the fan head and let it blow. Then she took out a pair of pants from the closet and threw them over: "Put this on first. You can change into this underwear after it dries. There are two more pairs on the balcony. They are both yours and they are new. Wear them when they are dry."
He looked at the child's red eyes, turned around, and said earnestly: "Remember to wear underwear in the future, okay? You have to wear something underneath your pants too."
He didn't plan to let the child eat the half lunch box left on the table. It was almost one in the morning and he wouldn't feel comfortable if he ate it. So he packed it up and put it in the refrigerator, ready to heat it up tomorrow.
After collecting them, I turned around and saw the child holding the waistband of his pants with his hands, and a long piece of trouser leg piled on his feet.
Shao Linyin also had a tall and thin figure with little flesh on his body, but he didn't expect that the waist of the pants would not be able to hang on the child.
He took a look and moved away, moved the small wooden table aside, wiped the floor, pulled a thin quilt from the bed, spread it out and folded it twice, and then went to the door switch.
"Lie down, I'll turn off the light."
Seeing the child lying down obediently on the thin blanket while holding the waistband of his pants, he turned off the light and got into bed himself.
It was not until he lay down on the bed that he completely relaxed. Even the joints between his bones ached. He had been tormented for the whole day and night!
In his hazy state, he vaguely heard a sentence: "What's your name?"
"Shao Liyin. The Liyin of the sound of farewell."
