Chapter 110 Dinner Preparation

Chapter 110 Dinner Preparation

Saturday, July 28th.

Klein Moretti carefully groomed his black hair in front of the half-length mirror in the bathroom.

He was already wearing his newly bought, starched black suit, shiny, double-breasted, with a collar that could be stood up and padded shoulders to make him look taller.

Combing his black hair neatly, he picked up a half-high silk hat from the coat rack, brushed off the non-existent dust on it, and put it on properly.

He buttoned up the double-breasted buttons of his suit one by one, and finally tied the bow tie, leaving only the collar of the white shirt underneath exposed.

"Yeah, that's right. Black is indeed a color that will never go out of style."

He forced a smile in front of the mirror, looked around, and after confirming that he was dressed properly, Klein left the bathroom satisfied and walked down the stairs to the first floor.

His brother, Benson Moretti, was standing stiffly in the middle of the living room, wearing a tuxedo, a black vest, a white shirt, a black bow tie, and straight trousers.

Seeing Klein coming down the stairs, he greeted him with a helpless look on his face.

"Melissa insisted that I dress like this, I..."

"Benson, this suit suits you very well. Do you remember how you got along so well with the gentlemen and ladies at Selina's dinner party two weeks ago?"

Benson touched his forehead, but his hairline, which was ahead of his peers, left him with nothing.

"Maybe, but didn't you only invite colleagues and teachers to this dinner?"

He asked doubtfully.

"But you have to get used to it, Benson. This is a big deal for Klein. Well... maybe you'll encounter it in the future..."

Their sister, Melissa Moretti's voice came from the top of the stairs.

The two turned around and saw Melissa had changed her clothes and came down to the living room from upstairs.

She was wearing an off-white long dress with ruffled tulle decorating the neckline and lapels. Apart from the popular leg-of-mutton sleeves, there were no other complicated designs, making it suitable for everyday wear.

Melissa walked forward with brisk steps. She sniffed and looked at Klein in surprise. "You actually wore perfume?"

"Really? Why didn't I smell it?"

Benson also came over curiously, took a breath, and said with a frown.

"It's...it's a light fragrance." Klein explained, feeling a little hot on his face. He reached out to try to untie his bow tie, but then felt that the bow tie he had tied with great difficulty should not be messed up like this. He shook his hand twice and then dropped it.

"Hmm, but it does look very handsome this way. Better than Benson."

“It turns out that the clothes are more important than the person.”

Benson teased from the side.

Then he frowned again, his eyes sweeping from Melissa, Klein, and himself in turn.

"Wouldn't this be a bit too formal?"

"It's just a small dinner to celebrate a housewarming. It can even be considered a family dinner."

He muttered, but his hands ran over his tuxedo, smoothing out the tiny wrinkles.

"Didn't I tell you yesterday?" Melissa winked at Benson repeatedly, "Klein hired a colleague, a female colleague."

She emphasized the last word.

"Oh—oh, so that's how it is!"

Benson was confused at first, then suddenly realized, and answered with deliberately drawn-out syllables.

"cough--"

Klein coughed, interrupting the brother and sister's banter. He followed the watch chain and pulled out the pocket watch from his dress pocket. He opened the cover with a snap and took a look.

"The hired carriage I arranged is about to arrive. Let's go wait at the door."

Seeing that the clock had pointed to 6 o'clock in the evening, he said to the two of them.

The three siblings checked each other and confirmed that there was no problem with their attire. Then they walked out of No. 2 Daffodil Street, waited at the door for a while, and boarded the hired carriage that came to pick them up.

The Silver Crown Restaurant was also located on Daffodil Street, at the other end of the street, not far from the Moretti home. Benson had suggested that the three of them could walk there, but Melissa thought that walking to a dinner in formal attire would not only make them sweat and mess up their clothes, but also appear inelegant, so she insisted on taking a carriage.

"Melissa, you weren't like this before..."

Although Klein had already decided to take the carriage, he was quite moved to see that his sister, who had been so fussy about household expenses just a few weeks ago, now no longer cared about these "small amounts of money."

"This is not for you."

Melissa glared at him with a look of disappointment.

"Maybe Melissa is adjusting to 'middle-class' life early, you know, they're all very—"

Benson joked on the side.

“Decent!”

Klein and Melissa answered in unison. The three of them smiled at each other, regaining their self-deprecating and teasing nature.

The Silver Crown Restaurant was a very famous restaurant near Narcissus Street and Iron Cross Street. It was moderately priced and offered local specialties from Loen, Intis, Feysac, and other regions. Although some felt that their specialties were not authentic and tasted entirely like the local flavor of Loen, most people cared more about the restaurant's quality and service than the taste.

The hired carriage was parked steadily in front of the street-facing storefront on the second floor of the Silver Crown Restaurant. It was already the dinner rush hour, and the restaurant entrance was bustling with people coming and going.

"We've booked a private room, right?"

Melissa asked Klein worriedly.

The latter nodded: "No problem, it has been booked long ago."

He walked towards the main entrance of the restaurant first, and two waiters stood on either side of the door, respectfully opening the door for him.

"We have a reservation, Box 7, Klein Moretti."

The receptionist looked through the registration book, quickly confirmed the Klein family's identities, and took them to Box 7 on the second floor.

The central chandelier illuminated the box brightly. There was already a person sitting at the round table waiting, absorbed in reading the book in his hand.

Hearing the door open and the sound of the Moretti siblings entering the room, the middle-aged man raised his head and looked at Klein calmly with his brown eyes. A sense of vicissitudes in his eyes was inconsistent with his age.

"I didn't expect you to be here, Mr. Azik. Thank you for attending our little dinner."

Klein took off his hat and saluted the middle-aged man.

"This is Mr. Azik Eggers, a professor of history at Khoyi University. He has been very helpful to me in my studies and work."

"This is my brother, Benson Moretti, and my sister, Melissa."

He introduced them to both parties.

Azik Eggers, a history professor at Hoy University with bronze skin and short black hair covered by a top hat, smiled back. His eyes swept over the three siblings, finally stopping on Klein.

"You've become more of a gentleman than before. It seems that the job at that 'security company' would suit you very well."

"Maybe it's the effect of this new outfit."

Klein answered Azik using Benson's words.

"No, I can see that you, um..." The latter glanced at Benson and Melissa behind Klein, "You've become more proficient in that area."

Klein was stunned for a moment, realizing that Azik was talking about himself digesting the "Fortune Teller" potion.

Mr. Azik can even see this?

Although the other party had openly stated that he possessed certain special abilities, and Klein had also divined in the gray fog and confirmed that Azik was an extremely powerful Beyonder, such power still exceeded his imagination.

Klein, who was trying to find an excuse to continue asking questions, saw Melissa constantly winking at him. Only then did he realize that it was a bit impolite for him to stand at the door all the time.

He quickly asked everyone to take a seat, but was surprised to see that Benson and Melissa had sat on the other side, leaving the seats on both sides of him empty.

“What are you doing…”

"This is Box 7. Mr. Moretti has arrived."

The waiter's voice from outside the door interrupted Klein's question.
