Chapter 18: Hard Fight

Chapter 18: Hard Fight

Among the three people present, Leonard can make others fall asleep through poetry, Angel is familiar with Madam Sharon, and the "Phantom Phosphorus Eruption" in his hand can easily detect invisible targets, but the biggest threat to Madam Sharon is undoubtedly the "psychic" Daly who can manipulate the blue spirit and burn the invisible silk thread she uses.

The moment the new "Phantom Phosphorus Eruption" revealed the figure of Mrs. Sharon, she also attacked Daly at the same time.

Angel didn't think Daly could withstand the assassin's full-strength attack, not to mention that she had her back to the enemy and was completely defenseless.

In a hurry, she raised her hand and fired a shot at the attacking figure, while moving her body sideways to stand between Daly and the attacker.

As Angel expected, the attacker easily dodged the hastily fired shot, but the barrier she formed with her body prevented her from passing through, so she had to turn and attack Angel, and the two fought in close combat.

Even though they were so close, Madam Sharon's invisibility ability was still effective. Angel could only vaguely see her outline through the phantom phosphorescent powder attached to her body, but this undoubtedly had a huge impact on close combat.

Seeing the silhouette outlined by the light powder swinging a punch towards him, Angel stretched out his left hand to block it, while holding the gun in his right hand, he continued to approach Mrs. Sharon, ready to fire at close range and reduce the opponent's evasive space.

Just as her left hand was about to block Mrs. Sharon, Angel's heart trembled. Her "assassin's" intuition told her that doing so would be very dangerous.

Without any hesitation, she chose to trust her intuition and immediately retracted her outstretched left hand. At the same time, she turned the muzzle of the gun in her right hand and pulled the trigger at the center of Mrs. Sharon's outline.

Bang!

Flames spurted out of the muzzle, carrying the bullet towards Mrs. Sharon, but at this moment, Mrs. Sharon seemed to be pulled sideways by someone, and changed her direction of movement at an incredible angle, avoiding the bullet fired at close range.

This also caused her attack on Angel to miss.

The spiritual reminder was very correct. If Angel had used his left hand to block the "punch", his arm would have been cut off by the dagger that was invisible together with Madam Sharon. At the moment of the attack, the dagger burning with black flames appeared from the air, passed by Angel silently, and then disappeared without a trace.

It seems that Madam Sharon did not really come to attack with bare hands, but compared to guns that would make more noise, she chose a dagger that is more suitable for an "assassin" attack.

Although invisible weapons are difficult to defend against, as long as the shape and length of the dagger are seen, the pressure of close combat will be greatly reduced for Angel. As an "assassin", she is not afraid even if the opponent has a higher sequence.

And she caught a glimpse of Leonard who had escaped with Daly's help and was aiming his pistol at this side.

Mrs. Sharon had apparently noticed that Leonard, who was trapped by the invisible thread, had regained his ability to move. Her silhouette, now only a silhouette left, quickly retreated a few steps and dodged Leonard's hastily fired bullets with a sideways movement. At the same time, several black flames appeared around her, drawing complex trajectories in the air and flying towards Leonard and Daly.

Without bothering to continue shooting, Leonard showed a speed that was no less than that of an "assassin". He hugged Daly and rolled behind the sofa to avoid the incoming black flames.

The black flames hit the fabric surface of the sofa like bullets, but did not ignite it. Instead, they quickly dissipated into the air, as if it were an illusion that did not exist in this world.

Seizing this opportunity, Angel aimed his gun again and fired the last two bullets in the magazine at Mrs. Sharon's silhouette dotted with phantom phosphorescent powder.

The bullets were dodged by Mrs. Sharon, who also possessed the "assassin's" ability to foresee danger. It seemed as if she was not dodging with her own strength, but was being moved quickly by an invisible giant hand. Two bullets hit the wooden partition behind her one after another, making two irregular holes.

An invisible giant hand... It seems the silk thread that bound them earlier can also be used for movement...

Angel followed Mrs. Sharon's figure with his eyes and made secret guesses.

With this kind of movement, long-range shooting was a sheer waste of bullets. She swung the pistol's revolver, ejecting the empty shell. With her left hand, she dropped the now-useless women's pistol and quickly loaded it with new bullets. Leonard also cooperated well, firing from behind the sofa to distract Mrs. Sharon, but unfortunately, his shots were ineffective.

The black flames appeared next to Mrs. Sharon again. She raised her hand and waved it, and several black flames floated towards Angel this time.

Angel knew that this black flame could not penetrate objects, so she lifted the table beside her, causing the teacups and kettle on the table to roll to the ground. She then crouched behind the table. With a few "puff" sounds, the black flame hit the table and dissipated directly, without causing any harm to her who was hiding behind it.

It seems that the extraordinary ability of "Witch" is too limited and cannot be compared with "Nightmare" at all...

She was squatting behind the table, lost in thought, when suddenly her heart tightened and she lunged forward.

The place where I was a second ago was pierced by a transparent ice spike that penetrated the wooden table. The ice was stuck on the wooden table, and the tip directly pierced the carpet. Waves of cold air came, making the surrounding environment feel like winter.

Affected by the cold, Angel felt that her movements became a little slow. She used her hands and feet to quickly move away from the wooden table covered with frost and avoid the black flames that flew like bullets.

Not far away, Madam Sharon held an ice spike that appeared out of thin air in one hand, surrounded by more black flames than before, and was preparing to launch the next round of attack.

Suddenly, a cold wind seemed to blow through the chaotic reception room, and the flying black flames seemed to be paused. Madam Sharon's waving arms froze in place. Under the already dimming phosphorescent pink halo, a figure gradually emerged.

Unlike the graceful and charming Tingen socialite in Cole Granger's memory, the one who appeared before them now was a Beyonder wearing a short-sleeved shirt and slim-fit leather trousers, holding a black flame dagger in one hand and a frost spear in the other. Her exposed slender arms and beautiful face were an unhealthy grayish-white, and her expression was filled with anger and panic.

Just like the Nighthawks who were restrained by invisible threads a minute ago...

Angel's mind moved, and he turned his gaze to look at Leonard who was hiding behind the sofa. He saw that he was also surprised. Then he looked at Daly Simone who was holding the pendant and closing her eyes beside him as if he suddenly understood.

It seems to be another masterpiece of this "psychic".

Angel was no longer distracted. She raised the loaded revolver, aimed at Mrs. Sharon, who was unable to move and had lost her invisibility, and pulled the trigger.

This time, Mrs. Sharon, who was imprisoned by the psychic, had no chance to dodge. The bullet hit her head accurately, and her entire head... no, her entire body shattered like an ice sculpture. The fragments melted in the air before they hit the ground. The black flames surrounding her lost control, scattered in irregular routes, and went out with a "puff" after hitting an obstacle.

The huge decorative mirror hanging on the wall nearby shattered into fingernail-sized pieces, some of which stuck to the frame, while others fell to the ground along the wall.

Another mirror substitute... Angel's eyes quickly swept across the reception room and found several decorative mirrors of varying sizes. He immediately raised his gun and aimed at one of them, smashing it to pieces with two consecutive shots.

"Be careful!" Leonard's panicked and shrill roar came from behind.

Without time to look back, Angel lunged forward and rolled away.

The dagger burning with black flames silently passed by the place where Angel was before, and Mrs. Sharon, who was also covered in black flames, appeared behind her.

Her complexion had returned to normal, and it was obvious that the effect that had previously restrained her had been lifted.

"The black flames are forcing the spirits back." Daly's warning came belatedly. "Give me another twenty seconds."

In the corner of Angel's sight, Daly pulled off the crystal pendant on her wrist, clasped her hands together to hold the pendant, and her eyes became deep.

“Whoosh—”

Mrs. Sharon, who was about to continue chasing Angel, ignored the target in front of her and directly condensed a frost spear in her hand and threw it at Daly who was communicating with spirits.

Angel quickly fired the remaining bullets from his magazine, accurately hitting the frost spear in mid-air. The powerful "Storm Gathering" tore through the ice, shattering it. A few pieces of ice shards brushed against Daly's body, but she remained motionless, as if the breeze brushing her face was only a summer breeze.

"Reload!" Angel opened the cylinder of his revolver and began to replace the bullets. Mrs. Sharon seized the opportunity, took two steps forward again, and stabbed forward with a dagger dragging black flames.

Bang, bang, bang—

Leonard fired several shots and forced back the aggressive Mrs. Sharon.

He knew that the most important thing now was to buy time for Daly and regain control of Mrs. Sharon through her spirit. Otherwise, if they continued to waste time like this and ran out of bullets, they would have no way to deal with her.

In order to restrain Mrs. Sharon, Leonard rushed out from behind the sofa where he was hiding, quickly pulled the trigger, and emptied the bullets in the magazine in one breath.

Madam Sharon used the invisible spider silk to pull her body as before, moving quickly and avoiding all the bullets. She looked at Leonard who was rushing towards her, a trace of disdain flashed in her brown eyes, and she waved her snow-white arms repeatedly. Leonard's movement froze in the charge, and the windbreaker outlined a clear line, and was once again entangled by the invisible silk thread, making his movement difficult and slow.

Madam Sharon brandished the dagger and was about to kill the presumptuous man with one strike, but her expression suddenly changed and she was pulled sideways by the silk thread, avoiding a bullet that was shot from her blind spot.

“Tsk.”

The sneak attack failed, and Angel couldn't help but feel anxious. Madam Sharon also possessed the combat instincts of an "assassin", and with the control of the invisible silk thread, even if he attacked from behind, Angel couldn't hit her at all. The battle had been fought so far, and the bullets had been replaced twice. Aside from hitting the mirror double, Madam Sharon was unharmed.

Only by letting Daly complete the spiritual communication, let the spirit control Mrs. Sharon, and then shatter all the mirrors nearby to prevent her from using the mirror substitute, will there be a chance to kill this extraordinary person who has endless ways to save his life.

But how long had twenty seconds passed? Seven seconds, or eight seconds?

While thoughts were racing through his mind, Angel's hands did not stop, pulling the trigger one shot after another, forcing Mrs. Sharon to dodge everywhere.

Bullets kept flying past Madam Sharon. Although they couldn't hit her, she was moving and dodging and had no time to condense black flames or frost spears to attack. Seeing time passing by second by second, Madam Sharon's face darkened and she actually rushed directly towards Angel.

With a "bang", Angel accurately hit the panicked Mrs. Sharon, but the sound of the mirror shattering again made her realize that she had been fooled again.

"Daly!" Angel knew something was wrong and quickly warned her. She looked in Daly's direction and a vague figure appeared beside her. Mrs. Sharon, who had used the mirror substitute, appeared out of thin air, still holding the dagger burning with black flames, with a victorious smile on her face.

Dai Li, wearing a black robe, still had her eyes closed and held the pendant tightly in her hand, as if she was unaware of the approaching danger.

Angel raised his hand and fired without hesitation, but only the crisp sound of the hammer hitting the primer was heard. This large-caliber revolver could only hold five bullets, and the one that shattered the mirror substitute just now was the last one.

A breeze blew past the crowd, as if someone was passing by in a hurry. Angel couldn't help but shudder, and her thoughts slowed down. She cheered up and looked back at the position of Daly and Mrs. Sharon.

The Psychic Daly opened her eyes again, and her deep pupils returned to their gem-like emerald green. Beside her, Madam Sharon's skin once again showed the unhealthy gray color from before, and the dagger she held high stopped in place, unable to be swung down.
