Chapter 531 Defeat Yourself

Chapter 531 Defeat Yourself

The moment his fingertips touched the fragment, Angel felt a ripple in his heart.

It was as if all the troubles and pains, including the doubts about his own identity, the guilt for hiding it from Klein, and the anxiety about the future, were released when the "disaster" spell took effect and killed the other "self".

The hateful expression of the "person in the mirror" and the declaration of "everything you have will belong to me" just now echoed in her mind for a long time.

Could it be that that was the evil side of my heart, and the battle just now was equivalent to me killing my own evil, as well as the pain and troubles in my heart?

The moment this thought came into her mind, she felt that the last bit of "pain" potion in her body was completely digested in the tranquility after the battle.

It can’t be something like “inner demon”, defeating oneself and then transcending… Angel laughed secretly, and immediately frowned, preventing his overly excited mood from affecting himself and relaxing his vigilance against strange dreams.

Careful to avoid the sharp edges, she grabbed the black fragment and stood up, examining it carefully.

The fragment is about the size of a palm, with one end sharp and the other end at a right angle, as if it were a piece of broken full-length mirror, but the surface is pitch black, as if it were painted with opaque paint. If it were not for the same material as the two broken full-length mirrors around it, it would not be visible as a "mirror fragment" at all.

Killing your own "mirror image", what's left behind is a piece of mirror fragment. What kind of weird dream is this?

Furthermore, that "person in the mirror" fully understands my fighting style and possesses my extraordinary abilities and magical items. She's far too difficult to deal with... No, she doesn't know the "disaster" spell, otherwise she wouldn't have been so surprised when I used it...

Angel picked up the used dark red talisman from the wet ground. The mysterious symbols engraved on it had completely disappeared, leaving it as an ordinary piece of iron without any spirituality.

The only difference between it and any other item I have is that I don't understand the source of its power... Is this why my "man in the mirror" can't copy it?

After thinking for a moment, Angel temporarily gave up these speculations. There were too few clues and there would be no additional gains if he continued thinking about it.

She simply treated the wounds on her body and found that the injuries in the dream were much lighter than in reality. Even though the Sword of Dawn had pierced her body several centimeters, not a few drops of blood flowed out and the pain was very mild.

After all, it's just a dream... I hope I don't wake up and find that the potion hasn't been digested. That would be a truly "painful" experience...

She muttered, checked the entire basement again, and after finding no other useful objects, she pushed open an iron door in the corner and walked out of the dark room.

It was still dark and quiet outside the door, but fortunately Angel's dark vision still worked in his dreams.

She discovered that behind the door was a spiral stone staircase. Every few steps there was an iron door similar to the one she was in. The area further away was shrouded in impenetrable fog, which even Dark Vision could not see through.

Above, there are also iron doors and steps, but with a faint light.

It turned out that this was not a "basement", but just a small room without windows.

At the end of the spiral staircase, there is darkness below and light above.

Without hesitation, she walked up.

Angel had no intention of opening each iron door to see what was inside. She didn't want to encounter "mirrors" or other more bizarre objects. With her current spiritual emptiness, dizziness, and headache, she was afraid she couldn't even deal with a Sequence 6.

Fortunately, every iron door was closed and no sound came from inside. Angel quickly reached the end of the spiral staircase and found that above was a not very wide square hall. Some tools and rusty weapons were scattered on the ground. There were old wooden-framed glass windows on all four walls. Light shone into the hall from one of the windows and then entered the spiral staircase.

The "mysterious queen" Bernadette Gustave, whom she had seen and talked to in her last dream, was standing by the window, staring blankly outside.

She no longer wore the strange skirt with beige trousers. Instead, she changed into a white shirt with lace at the collar, similar to Angel, and paired it with a cerulean jacket that matched her eyes. She also wore slim-fit trousers and black leather boots.

This High-Sequence Beyonder had his back to Angel, his silhouette gleaming in the dim light of the setting sun, yet it made Angel feel a sense of loneliness.

Has she been standing here since she entered the dream? She's an old acquaintance of the "Admiral of the Stars," yet refuses to meet him. She knows this dreamland so well, yet refuses to explore, simply staring into the distance?

Angel quietly approached Bernadette and glanced outside, realizing that this hall was actually part of the huge black building in his last dream. To be more precise, it was the observation deck on top of one of its towers.

Opposite the window, the scenery remained unchanged: cliffs, peaks, city walls and palaces built against the mountain. Above them, the light of dusk enveloped everything.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?"

Bernadette, with her chestnut hair and blue eyes, suddenly spoke.

"Indeed, but these are only dreams."

Angel squinted his eyes in the sunset, feeling the gentle sunlight that was different from the aggressive light of the God War Ruins, and replied.

Hearing her somewhat "negative" words, Bernadette stopped looking at the temple opposite and turned her head with a burning gaze.

“This dream isn’t vast. It only has the black monastery below us and the projection of the Giant King’s Court across the cliff.

"Of course, these two names are just my guesses. I haven't found a corresponding monastery in the real world, so I just named it based on its color. However, the Giant King's Court is very similar to the Dusk Palace in Feysac."

The seat of the Church of the God of War, the Dusk Palace?

Angel found it extremely difficult to talk to this "mysterious queen". She needed to try her best to search for the mystical knowledge in her mind in order to keep up with her thoughts.

But every word she said seemed to have a deep meaning, so although her spirituality was not sufficient, Angel, who had a splitting headache, still gritted his teeth and persisted, writing down every word, even if he couldn't understand it for the time being!

"That god of war is said to be a giant who survived before the Cataclysm, and these ruins of the war between gods originated from the Cataclysm."

Bernadette continued to speak on her own, not caring at all whether Angel could understand her or not.

She wasn't talking to me, but to Mr. Fool behind me. She wanted to exchange this knowledge for a promise, such as deciphering Emperor Roselle's diary?

But Mr. Fool was even able to find Mr. "Sun" from the God-forsaken Land, from the "Silver City" that existed before the Cataclysm, and let him participate in the Tarot Club across a whole world. Does he really care about your knowledge... Angel thought in his mind a little rudely.

She suddenly remembered where she had heard of the "Giant King's Court".

"The real Giant King's Court is in the God-forsaken Land."

Seeing that Bernadette seemed to be continuing to fill her with knowledge that she couldn't understand, Angel spoke.

The Mysterious Queen stared at Angel for a few seconds with her azure eyes, then nodded slightly and said without any surprise:

"Legend has it that the entrance to the 'God-Forsaken Land' is in the projection of the 'Giant King's Court' across the way.

“And in the Black Monastery here, each room represents a different location in this sea, and behind each door may be the dream of a different creature.

"He has been searching for the 'God-Forsaken Land', saying that the ultimate answer to all questions is hidden there."

What she meant was that the entire dream corresponded to the specific location of the ruins of the Gods' War, and the same was true for the Giant King's Court across the way. As long as they could reach there, there would be hope of finding "him", that is, the God-forsaken Land that Emperor Roselle had been looking for?

With difficulty, Angel followed the other person's train of thought. Even so, she felt as if her head, which had been exhausted of spiritual energy, was pierced by countless sharp knives, even in the dream where the pain was not obvious.

Fortunately, it seemed that Bernadette was just inspired by the scenery. She did not continue the topic, but changed the subject and said:

"I told you that the dreamland here is very dangerous, but you seem to be overconfident in your own strength."

Her gaze lingered on Angel's blood-stained shirt and the scars all over his body, the meaning was self-evident.

"This time, I didn't wake up in the library. Instead, I woke up in a dark room and encountered...myself, who appeared in the mirror."

Angel explained, pulling out the dark mirror fragment from his pocket and handing it to Bernadette, who took it, glanced at it, and returned it, saying:

"The library isn't the place you should go. I've said that every location in this dream corresponds to a corresponding location in the ocean. You should appear near the crew of the 'Future' and spend time with them in a dream that's not too dangerous, rather than in this tower made up of countless dangerous dreams.

"I brought you to the library to observe your reaction to the diary, but this time, I didn't exert any influence... Perhaps, a certain power in you is attracting the power of others. This is not common in dreams, but it does happen from time to time.

"Next time, I'll try to send you back to Cattleya."

After saying this, she seemed to sense something and looked at the sunset outside the window again.

The sunlight suddenly became strong, illuminating the entire hall with golden light.

Angel squinted his eyes subconsciously, and when he opened them again, he found himself back in the cabin of the "Future". It was bright outside the porthole, and the sky was once again dominated by the scorching sun.

Without caring about being surprised, she immediately got up from the bed and touched her chest. She found that the damage she suffered in the dream was not reflected in reality, but the consumed spiritual energy did not return to her body. Her head was still throbbing with pain. Although her vision was not blurred, she could not help but close her eyes.

Oh, and my ammunition and spells!

She opened the revolver's cylinder and took out the talisman from her pocket to check it before she breathed a sigh of relief.

The talismans of "Storm" and "Slumber" remained in place, and the bullets hadn't been fired. Aside from the loss of half of his spiritual power, there seemed to be no abnormalities...

wrong!

Angel looked at the talismans in his palm and found that the dark red "Disaster" talisman that was placed alone had faded runes engraved on its surface and did not have the spiritual reaction that a normal talisman should have.

It has become an ordinary piece of iron.

In my dream, I consumed the "disaster" spell in reality?

Considering that the "Man in the Mirror" did not copy her talisman, Angel seemed to understand the difference between "Disaster" and other items.

It can penetrate the shackles of reality and "dreams" and directly attack the target inside!

If that's the case, then my potion... She put down the pistol and the talisman, closed her eyes, and entered into meditation, feeling the "painful" potion in her body. She was soon surprised to find that the "tranquility" and the feeling of the potion being digested in her dream were real.

She has completed the performance and digestion of Sequence 5 "Pain".

It turns out that the end of "pain" is to "overcome one's own heart" in the mystical sense, but in the dream, this is materialized through the "man in the mirror"?

After making the final summary, Angel breathed a sigh of relief and opened his eyes. He felt that his headache and fatigue were less obvious under this surprise.

At this moment, her drooping arm touched the pocket of her coat. She was stunned for a moment, then reached out to take out the object in the bag and held it in front of her.

It was a piece of black mirror with sharp edges, one end pointed and the other blunt.
