Chapter 303 First Communication
After leaving the dance, wandering around the East District, passing the safe house and returning home, it was already late at night.
Angel went to the basement and carefully used frost to form an ice surface. He smeared the communication potion he got from Triss around the mirror to form an elliptical closed area. This used up about one-third of the potion, which meant that the same communication could only be carried out twice more.
The cold mirror surface quickly turned pitch black, and then the scene on the opposite side appeared. The other mirror seemed to be placed in a dark room. Although Angel had dark vision, this ability could not reach the other side through the spiritual world, so he could hardly see the environment on the opposite side.
"Hello?"
She greeted cautiously.
There was complete silence on the other side.
Could it be that this was the mirror that Triss had applied the potion to beforehand, and she herself wasn't there?
Angel frowned and looked at the ice mirror. The potions around the mirror were evaporating rapidly, and the remaining ones gradually melted and flowed down the edge of the mirror like fresh blood. When these potions completely disappeared, the connection between the two mirrors in the spiritual world would be severed.
After waiting for a few more minutes, just when Angel thought that the communication would end meaninglessly, she caught a glimpse of a piece of paper with something written on it placed in the corner of the mirror. Due to the dim environment, she could only move closer to the mirror to take a closer look. At the moment when the connection was interrupted, she could see the words clearly.
"We'll contact each other again at 5pm on Sunday."
After moving the useless ice mirror to the sink and letting it slowly melt, Angel returned to the study and carefully thought about the note he had just seen.
"Triss must have prepared all this long ago. She left the note in a secret room, along with a mirror smeared with communication potion facing it. That way, no matter who she gave the potion to, they'd be able to see the note during their first contact and confirm the next time to contact... The potion in the test tube was barely enough for three uses, leaving plenty of room for error..."
Looking at the tube of dark red potion in his hand, which was already one-third empty, Angel frowned in confusion.
"But why did she go to such great lengths to contact me? Couldn't she have just met me in person..."
Angel suddenly remembered what happened when she met her at the dance tonight. When Triss was about to ask her for help, she suddenly seemed like a different person. Her expression, demeanor and words were completely different from before. She even hurriedly left the balcony and left the person she wanted to ask for help.
"Could it be that Triss knew this would happen and prepared the communication potion and magic mirror in advance, so that she could still contact me, or anyone sent by the Witch Cult to contact her, in the event of an accident? But how can she ensure that this person won't leak the secret... Oh, I remember she said she had tried to escape several times but failed. It seems that even she herself has no hope for this operation, and it's just a struggle..."
After figuring this out, Angel decided to wait until tomorrow, Sunday afternoon, to contact Triss to see what the other party was planning, and then decide whether to contact her further.
Although she has no good feelings towards the real murderer of the "Alfalfa Massacre", Triss also seems to want to deal with the Witch Cult. She is even involved in some kind of power that can create "coincidences" and make her involuntarily become the prince's mistress. Perhaps she can become the key to the plan to explore the Witch Cult and find Ince Zangwill.

On Friday, Angel arrived at the detective agency not far from Backlund Institute of Technology and met the private detective, whose face looked a little pale due to staying up late for a long time to stake out the suspect.
"Ms. Watson, my assistant and I have been monitoring the target residence continuously for this week, but we haven't spotted the suspicious man you mentioned."
The detective named Raymond handed a thin stack of documents to Angel, who glanced through them and found that it was a record of all outsiders who had approached Lily Granger's rented house in the past week. The records included the time, the other person's general appearance and clothing, and whether they had entered the house.
Judging from their ages, most of them were Lily's classmates and friends of the same age, and there was no middle-aged man who sent the threatening letter.
"Also, while we were on stakeout, we discovered another group of people who were also secretly observing the residence and following the woman. Because they were also very alert, we didn't follow them, and your commission didn't include them."
"Just in case, my assistant drew their faces. Are they the private investigators you commissioned?"
Having said that, Raymond looked at Angel with a puzzled look.
"No, I only entrusted you..."
Angel took the portrait and looked at it, and immediately understood. One of the two rough sketches was the male "Night Watcher" she saw on the street outside Lily Granger's house when she went to her house. Although they had only met once, Angel still remembered his appearance because of his identity.
The other was even more familiar. It was Lolota, who had once traveled from Backlund to Tingen City, escorting the Sealed Artifact "2-049" to help the Tingen team capture Riel Biber and search for the Antigonus family notes. She was also a member of Backlund's Nighthawks team and a Sequence 8 "Gravedigger."
When Angel saw the former at Lily's doorstep, she suspected that Backlund's Nighthawks were using Lily as a "fishing" to try to find the mastermind behind the threatening letter. Now that she saw another acquaintance also following them, she confirmed this.
"I know them. They're from the Sivellas Field. They might have received a report and are also staking out the man who sent the threatening letter."
Angel couldn't reveal the Nighthawks' story, so he fabricated an identity to explain the origins of the two Nighthawks. Of course, this wasn't a complete fabrication; the Nighthawks did indeed hold Backlund's rank of Inspector.
"The police are involved? Then why did you hire us?"
This explanation made Detective Raymond even more confused.
"Because I don't trust the Sivellas. They're arrogant, inefficient, and don't bother explaining the progress of the case to the victim. To be honest, I trust private investigators who are paid and efficient more than them."
"Oh, yes... They're always like this. Recently, there was a lot of buzz about the serial murder case. Sivellas Field hadn't caught the murderer for two months. In the end, it was thanks to a few experienced detectives who analyzed the murderer's identity and killing patterns that they were able to catch him in the act. The detectives who made such contributions shared a reward of over a thousand pounds!"
Angel pretended to have a deep hatred for the police and successfully dispelled the other party's suspicion. The detective even took some rumors about the demon murder case as the merit of his colleagues and boasted a little.
Of course, after bragging, he still collected every penny he was owed. Angel spent another 10 pounds as surveillance fees for the next week, which made her already empty wallet even worse.
Fortunately, there would be a Beyonder gathering hosted by the Eye of Wisdom tomorrow. If she could sell some easily salable Sequence 9 formulas there, she would be able to greatly improve her financial situation.
Mr. A of the Aurora Society was also holding a gathering that same evening. If he chose to sell the formula, it would obviously be easier at Mr. A's gathering. However, having just killed Ms. D and thwarted the Aurora Society's plans, Angel absolutely dared not appear before this divine messenger, even though it was difficult for him to see through his multiple disguises.

"I didn't expect you to contact me so soon. Did you find out some news?"
A luxuriously decorated bedroom appeared on the mirror coated with the potion provided by Laura Swan. The Witch of Pleasure, wearing a silk robe and with her black hair tied up high and a lazy look on her face, appeared in front of Angel.
It was late Friday night. Angel had been busy all day making various spells, potions and special bullets before she remembered to keep in regular contact with this "collaborator". Otherwise, she would have already lay down in the warm bed instead of making this "video call" that was ahead of its time in the dark basement.
"Yes, I heard a lot of news from Severia."
In order to show proper sincerity, Angel did not wear the "Ring of Madness". Instead, he once again used the Faceless Man's extraordinary characteristics to create the face he showed to the other party that night, and said while sitting in front of the ice mirror.
"Very good. I'm all ears."
Laura smiled brightly.
