Chapter 311 Preparations before Action
Early Wednesday morning, Angel's magic mirror received a communication from Sherlock Moriarty.
She had anticipated this, as the fifth edition of yesterday's Backlund Morning Post had published Ernst Trading Company's GG, which meant that the Beyonder gathering hosted by the Eye of Wisdom would be held promptly at 8:00 p.m. tonight.
It also means that her plan with Sherlock is about to begin.
"According to my previous plan, I'll go to the nearest police station to report the case later," Sherlock, who seemed to be in the bathroom again on the other side of the mirror, said in a low voice. "I'll say that after receiving the threatening letter, I thought it was a prank, so I didn't report it right away. But then I remembered my contribution to the 'serial murder case' and thought I was being targeted by the murderer's accomplices, so I reported it. Also, coincidentally, a detective I know came to see me yesterday. He also received a threatening letter. This will be an opportunity for me to report the case and seek help."
"I will attend today's Beyonder gathering and agree to the commission from the Eye of Wisdom. As the Beyonder who killed the Devil Dog, I will participate in the search for the person behind the incident. You, under the protection of the official Beyonders, will try not to reveal your identity and can also serve as a backup for the attack."
Angel answered while looking at the palm-sized magic mirror in front of him.
"In fact, I suspect I've been secretly monitored and protected by an official Beyonder. My divination has shown signs of being slightly disturbed."
Is that why you were hiding in the bathroom talking to me?
Angel curled his lips and quickly ended the connection between the two mirrors to prevent the monitored detective from revealing his true identity and strength.
Besides, she also had a lot of things that needed to be completed as soon as possible. Once she joined the "Eye of Wisdom" plan, Angel estimated that she would not have much free time before dealing with the secret apostle of desire.
After a quick breakfast, she first went to the North District and came to the private detective agency responsible for monitoring Lily Granger's family. The detective named Raymond was personally keeping an eye on them, and she was greeted by a young assistant.
Unfortunately, during more than a week of surveillance, the man in the divination screen was not found. He seemed to have disappeared after sending the last threatening letter. Angel even suspected that he was just writing the threatening letter to scare Lily, rather than preparing to take real action.
But according to the findings of the detective and his assistant, the Nighthawks still have not given up on protecting Lily Granger, which means that they have some intelligence that Angel does not know and still doubt the possibility of the threat becoming a reality.
So Angel paid for the next week in advance and asked the detective to continue to monitor the house around the clock. Although there were night watchmen in the open, she felt that it would be safer to have more people watching in the dark.
Afterwards, she went to Severia's residence in the West District. The Witch of Pleasure had previously said that she would give her another task, asking her to prevent Triss from escaping, but there had been no further news since the dance, and she almost thought that she had forgotten about it.
This time when they arrived at Baron Langdon's mansion, Sylvia was not at home. The housekeeper, who seemed to know something, told Angel that there would be no other tasks recently and asked her to continue to maintain her relationship with Earl Hall's family, that is, her friendship with Audrey Hall.
Angel has some guesses about Sylvia's mysterious disappearance.
According to the intelligence obtained from Laura and the information revealed by Sylvia herself, the High-Sequence Beyonder of the Witch Cult, "Lady Despair," is likely to return to Backlund in the near future. Sylvia may be making some preparations for this, so she has no time to take care of the arrangements for her subordinates.
Angel was also happy about this. Before she figured out the strange things about Triss, she didn't want to have any contact with her again. This witch, who was troubled by her identity, was keen on using various methods to escape. Angel always felt that sooner or later she would cause some big trouble.
After leaving the West Side, she went straight to the East Side and found Sherman on the second floor of the simple apartment building.
The latter finally looked like an "assassin" at this time, at least not as shy as when Angel first saw him. Now he could be seen at a glance as a person who had been "stained with blood".
"Has the first target been solved?"
Angel asked as he sat down on a chair in the living room.
But she already had the answer in her heart.
"Yes, yes," Sherman became the timid novice once he spoke. "I spent the whole day tracking and observing him, trying to figure out his sleep patterns, but in the end I just killed him in his sleep. I didn't even need to use my abilities like sneaking into the shadows or charging a powerful attack..."
"Isn't that great? Those abilities are meant to be used desperately. With proper planning and patient waiting for opportunities, you won't need them."
Angel praised the newbie, hoping to make him more confident.
Sherman then continued to report the results of tracking and screening those "Barrons" in the past few days. One of them, Barron, who also came from the southern continent, worked as a thug in a tavern. He slept soundly during the day and guarded the door at night. He had nothing to do with human traffickers, and his appearance was different from the characteristics provided by Angel. He had been ruled out as a suspect.
The other two Barrons, Sherman and several of his men are still being investigated, and the results should be out in the next few days.
Although this was a commission from the Hanged Man of the Tarot Society, it involved human trafficking and was more likely related to the Witch Cult and the Aurora Society. Angel was very concerned about this and asked Sherman to contact her immediately through the communication potion as soon as he had any news.
Afterwards, she helped Sherman select the next assassination target, and left the apartment after teaching him some combat skills. Although this new assassin had a problematic personality, he had good talent. When he planned the assassination for the first time, he had some insights into the role of "assassin", which made Angel sigh at the vision of the witch sect in selecting members.

At night, the extraordinary gathering of "Eye of Wisdom" was held on time. When Angel came to the venue wearing a hooded robe and an iron mask, he found that Sherlock was not in attendance.
"He may be under the protection of the 'Mechanical Heart' now..."
Thinking secretly, Angel sat in a corner of the room, and was then surprised to see the fat pharmacist, Darkwill, sitting near the center of the room.
"Is anyone selling the 'Warrior' potion recipe?"
This "animal trainer" has apparently found an animal he likes and is selecting the right potion to transform it into a supernatural creature.
"Aren't you a 'pharmacist'? What do you need the warrior potion for?"
The "Black Snake" who had always had a bad relationship with him said in a sharp voice.
Darkwill snorted softly and didn't answer him, instead repeating his needs.
"Besides 'Warrior', do you need other potions? For example, 'Apprentice'? I can sell it to you along with the subsequent sequences so you don't have to buy them everywhere every time."
Seeing that the trainer was a little anxious, Angel took the opportunity to promote his own formula.
"You?" The other party recognized her voice and asked in confusion, "You should know that what I need is a potion with sufficient combat power, a warrior, or... or your method."
Fortunately, this guy has the most basic common sense and didn't tell me my method...
Angel frowned at the outspoken guy and secretly felt relieved.
"Combat ability? Then you can go find the 'audience'. Their ancient name is the 'dragon' path!"
Another member of the party who was looking for trouble spoke up, his tone tinged with sarcasm and laughter.
…
After the party, Angel shook her head slightly when the waiter came to lead her away. The waiter understood and walked around her sofa, taking the others away one by one. In the end, only she and the old man "Eye of Wisdom" in the middle of the room were left.
"I'm surprised you changed your mind. And it seems your friend isn't attending the party today?"
After watching the last member leave and the waiter close the door, Wisdom Eyes looked at Angel in the corner and asked.
"He wasn't interested in this, so he didn't come," Angel made up an excuse to cover for Sherlock. "Let's talk about the details of the commission and the compensation I can get."
