Chapter 189: Gathering of the Eyes of Wisdom
After about 10 seconds, a wooden board on the door was pulled open, and a pair of vigilant eyes looked at the three people outside the door through the small window, with scrutiny in their eyes.
After a moment, the person behind the door seemed to recognize Kaspers, closed the wooden board, and then opened the door a crack.
"You bastard, tell me in advance next time you bring someone here. No, there won't be a next time!"
An angry voice came from behind the door.
Kaspers curled his lips and signaled with his eyes that the two participants he brought with him should go in quickly.
Steadying the cardboard mask on his face, Angel squeezed through the crack in the door and entered the room, followed closely by the black-haired man.
Behind the door stood a tall man wearing an iron mask. He handed over two simple hooded robes and said:
"Put it on and follow me."
Angel obeyed the instructions and put on his robe and hood, revealing only the mask and a strand of black hair disguised by the "Ring of Madness". He followed the "Iron Mask" through the corridor and the dark living room and came to a living room.
There were already more than a dozen people in the room, scattered on the sofas and chairs, all dressed in hooded robes and iron masks. They gathered around a coffee table with a small candle on it, adding a touch of color to the dark living room.
Seeing new members coming in, those near the door turned their heads and looked towards the door.
It was then that Angel realized that the situation was not good. Everyone else was wearing an iron mask, but she was the only one wearing a homemade puppy mask, which immediately attracted a lot of curious eyes.
Is it too late to turn around and leave now?
She somewhat regretted bringing a mask as Mr. A's custom at Beyonder gatherings, but if she left now, people would mistake her for an official who had sneaked in to investigate an underground gathering, which might cause even greater unrest.
Fortunately, the gazes behind the masks quickly left her and returned to a member who had just spoken, allowing Angel to find a single sofa in the corner and sit down.
"Is there really no one to help? I can give you two bottles of homemade potions as a reward. You should know my level."
A chubby-cheeked man under a mask sitting on a chair near the coffee table in the middle of the room said this. He looked in the direction of Angel's seat and remembered that a new member had joined the party, so he repeated his request.
It turned out that this unlucky guy had secretly planted a lot of medicinal herbs in the city's sewers. It was already the harvest season, but suddenly some elusive wild beasts appeared in the sewers. They ate up all the precious and versatile herbs, leaving only the poisonous ones.
This fat-faced man was willing to pay two bottles of homemade potion and ask someone who was capable of dealing with the beasts to help clean up the sewers in the Backlund Bridge District.
"I've sold potions here before. Everyone should know their effects. They can stop bleeding and promote healing. They're faster and better than getting stitches at a clinic."
The man boasted as if he was selling cheap alcohol on the street.
He can grow medicinal herbs and make all kinds of potions... Could he be a "pharmacist"?
Angel remembered that the church's internal documents mentioned that the Church of Mother Earth mastered two types of potions: "Pharmacist" and "Cultivator". The former was not complete, but there were relevant records. The most impressive thing was the preparation of various medicines.
It looked like he was only a Sequence 9 Pharmacist. If he could reach Sequence 8 Beast Tamer, he would be able to drive away the beasts that ate the herbs himself...
While Angel was thinking, the pharmacist did not receive any response from the other members and became a little anxious.
"Add two more bottles, effective for more than a month, and they'll help men regain their youthful impulses and become extraordinary in bed... That's what I mean." He grinned beneath his mask, emphasizing, "Even after the expiration date, it can still fill a man with strength and increase his speed and agility, but it will make him weaker after use."
This is more like selling fake medicine, and the kind that exaggerates the efficacy...
Angel complained inwardly.
A few members in the corner seemed to be interested, but perhaps because they were concerned about the danger of the sewer, they did not speak out.
"On top of that, please add another 30 pounds in cash. Those herbs are really important to me."
The pharmacist's voice took on a hint of pleading.
30 pounds, just to deal with a few beasts that destroyed the herbs?
Angel's eyes lit up. Seeing that someone on the other side seemed to be about to accept the commission, she quickly said:
"I can help you solve it, but you have to pay half in advance, and I'll pay the other half after I solve the problem."
As soon as she opened her mouth, several eyes, including the black-haired man who came in with her, immediately looked at her.
I just want the money and really have no interest in the drugs...
Feeling the speculation and ridicule in her eyes, she added silently in her heart.
"Great! You're new here, right? Mr. Wisdom Eyes can be a witness to this matter, so you don't have to worry about me refusing to pay."
The pharmacist breathed a sigh of relief when he saw someone had accepted the commission, and replied.
Sitting on a larger single sofa beside the coffee table, an old man with withered skin and prominent nasolabial folds nodded and said, "No problem."
Is he the "Eye of Wisdom"? It seems he should have the same identity as Mr. A, the initiator of the party and the maintainer of order. Is he also a Beyonder?
Angel guessed and nodded in agreement, then watched as the fat pharmacist handed a few banknotes and two bottles of potion in clear glass bottles to the tall man who brought Angel in, and he passed them on.
Through this, Angel also understood the transaction format of this gathering, which was somewhat different from the gathering organized by Mr. A. Rather than a formal trading venue, this place was more like a loose symposium. Everyone directly proposed transactions or commissions, and the deal was settled on the spot. The organizer, "Eye of Wisdom", witnessed the transaction.
No wonder they all wore masks, otherwise their identities would be easily exposed if they were to trade in front of everyone...
After taking the 15 pounds in advance from the pharmacist, Angel separated a bottle of red and a bottle of dark green potion into his pockets, and looked at the fat pharmacist again.
"When the party is over, let's go out together."
He seemed reluctant to elaborate in front of everyone and only added briefly.
After the first transaction was completed, the atmosphere of the party became lively. Another man whose face could not be seen clearly began to sell a magical item. It looked like a gem necklace and was said to make people rich within three months. The name was simple and crude, called "Wealth Accessories".
Angel, who had just received a 15-pound advance payment, not only did her deep desire for money not disappear, but became even stronger. She curiously asked about the price of the accessories, and was immediately scared off by the asking price of 1,000 pounds.
Soon, this magical item was bought by someone, and Angel was curious whether he could really make back his investment within three months.
After several successful and failed transactions, the black-haired man who came to the party venue with Angel pushed the iron mask on his nose and said in a low voice:
"I want to sell an item."
He pulled a small tin box from his pocket and took out a dark red jelly-like substance.
"I found this on a corpse. I'm not sure what it's used for. Perhaps you can discover its purpose?"
This thing, why does it look a bit like...
Angel gritted his teeth and turned on his spiritual vision. Next to the man's outline with white light, the ball of "jelly" emitted a spiritual glow like blood.
Without a doubt, that is an extraordinary characteristic!
As if sensing her prying eyes, the man turned his head to look at her, his brown eyes beneath the mask showing a hint of caution and curiosity.
