Chapter 1 This Night

Late at night, the clanging sound of doors and windows opening woke Wendel from his sleep. He got out of bed alertly and looked around.

What happened? Did Utopia encounter a huge storm? Wendel, who hadn't slept well for a few days, finally fell into a deep sleep, but had to get up. His thoughts were a little frozen for a moment, and he looked quite confused.

He immediately discovered that there was no strong wind blowing in or rain drifting in through the wide-open window. It was as if he had opened it while sleepwalking just to breathe in some fresh air.

Wendel suddenly thought of the extraordinary events he had experienced and learned about through the files, and the fear of the unknown that once dominated his mind.

He didn't know what changes would happen next, nor could he guess what would happen to him. He felt a chill on his back and a trembling sensation.

Just at this moment, he heard a commotion outside the door, and all kinds of sounds came into his ears.

There were sounds of running, judgments on certain behaviors, changes to the current order, and undisguised shouts:

"Something unusual has occurred in the underground seal!"

"Raise your alert!"

The underground part is sealed? What is sealed under the ground of the "Iris" Hotel? Wendel was surprised and confused. He couldn't help but walk to the door and look around.

He then saw his colleagues from MI9, who he was not familiar with but knew by some means, and Colonel Hugh Dilcher, who was on duty tonight.

MI9 found Utopia through me? To deal with the anomalies here? As soon as Wendel had this thought, he subconsciously frowned.

He found that the layout of the corridor outside was completely different from that of the Iris Hotel: there were not only gas wall lamps on both sides, but also classical lampstands; the floor was very brightly maintained; the ceiling height was over three meters...

This... this is not the Iris Hotel... Wendel turned around abruptly and looked at the room again.

He quickly recognized that this was his bedroom in the MI9 headquarters. The suitcase was quietly placed in the corner, with no sign of movement.

Wendel remembered clearly that he went to Utopia through the bathroom in the room. He was not very sure beforehand, so he did not bring any luggage. He only took the document from the Utopia Magistrates' Court.

Bang, bang, bang! He quickly ran to the window and looked outside.

What came into his sight was the garden and lawn belonging to the MI9 headquarters.

I, I am back in Backlund again? Or, I have not returned to Utopia at all, I just fell asleep because I was too tired and had a dream? Wendel walked back to the bed in a daze and sat down.

After more than ten seconds, he suddenly jumped up and picked up his coat from the ground.

Then he saw the Utopian court document lying quietly in the inside pocket of his coat, which should have been in the drawer.

Wendel fell silent, as if he had turned into a statue.

…………

Travel columnist Monica also woke up to the sound of windows and doors slamming against the wall.

She sat up suddenly and pulled the quilt up to cover her chest.

Her first reaction, still sleepy, was that a robber had broken into the hotel, so she was about to scream and call the police.

But in the next ten or twenty seconds, Monica didn't hear any footsteps entering her room, but more and more people seemed to gather in the corridor:

"what happened?"

"It doesn't look like a storm..."

"Is anyone playing a prank?"

"Damn clown, if I knew who he was, I would kick his ass!"

The sound of discussion continued, mixed with various curses.

Monica didn't think much of it at first. Instead, she followed the conversation of the crowd outside and thought seriously about the cause of this strange incident. She wanted to write it in her travel notes.

But as she listened, she gradually realized something was wrong:

How could the Utopian "Iris" Hotel have so many guests!

She remembered very clearly that there were at most five rooms occupied by residents on her floor, including hers.

At this moment, Monica thought of the ghost stories she had read or heard, and suddenly she felt that there were ghostly spirits outside the door.

She had stretched her feet toward the bed, ready to go out, participate in the discussion, grasp more details, and accumulate materials for future writing. At this moment, she quickly retracted her feet, huddled up into a ball, and shivered.

After several seconds, she heard a man say:

"I asked the hotel owner, and he said he didn't know what happened, maybe there was a short storm.

"Everyone go back to your room and rest, lock the doors and windows, yawn, I have to get up early tomorrow to go to the Kingdom Museum."

Kingdom Museum...Monica was stunned.

As a travel writer and a traveler who had spent a long time in Utopia, she certainly knew that there was no Kingdom Museum here.

In the Kingdom of Loen, a museum with such a name must be in Backlund.

It would take many hours to take the steam train from Utopia to Backlund. Even if one got up early, it would not be in time to arrive at the Kingdom Museum before closing time.

Monica was puzzled and slowly lifted the quilt. She heard the sound of doors and windows closing one after another.

She carefully got out of bed and walked towards the door.

During this process, she gradually saw clearly the room illuminated by the moonlight.

Hiss... Monica almost screamed.

This is not the guest room where she slept before!

Both the layout and arrangement are completely different!

The ghost stories she just remembered flooded into her mind again, causing her legs to go weak and she almost couldn't support her body.

Just as Monica's teeth chattered and made a "click, click, click" sound, she saw a hotel business card on the table - it was prepared for guests, so they would not lose their way back when they went out. Even if they were illiterate, they could use it to ask for directions.

Monica subconsciously moved closer and used the moonlight to clearly identify the words on the business card:

Carpenter's Inn, 19 Morning Street, West District of Backlund.

Backlund West District... Backlund... Monica's eyes suddenly widened, and she felt a sense of time and space confusion.

…………

Backlund, Hillston District, inside a house with a fireplace.

Fors heard the sound of doors and windows opening, but she did not wake up immediately because she was trapped in a bizarre nightmare and could not escape it.

She dreamed that her teacher Dorian Grey Abraham was affected by the family seal and died bloodily in front of her. She dreamed that she lost control and mutated, turning into starlight insects that curved into door shapes and flew involuntarily towards a door of flesh and blood. She dreamed that the end of the world was coming, and the surging blood-red tide submerged the entire world. Hugh, Gehrman Sparrow and others were not spared...

Finally, Fors came out of the dream, sat up, and gasped for breath.

As a demigod, who was once an "astrologer", she knew what such a dream must mean, so she quickly suppressed her emotions and looked forward.

The glass on the bay window in the bedroom had been completely shattered at some point.

Something must have happened... and it has something to do with Doomsday, the Abraham family, and the "apprentice" path... Fors muttered to himself silently, then stood up, put on his cloak, and prepared to "teleport" to the teacher to confirm his safety.

This change gave her a greater sense of urgency in advancing to Sequence 3, or even Sequence 2.

——After learning about the apocalypse from Mr. Fool and Gehrman Sparrow, Fors had actually been trying hard, but the Mystic Potion was not something that could be digested in a short time. Moreover, without making any contribution, she was too embarrassed to ask the teacher for the formula and materials for the Wanderer.

Of course, if she wanted, she could get it from Mr. "Door", but how could she be bewitched when she had been warned beforehand?

With a flash of her figure, Fors disappeared from the room.

A few seconds later, she appeared at Dorian Gray Abraham's residence and saw her teacher sitting there, holding his heart, looking frightened.

"...Do you need any medicine?" Fors asked cautiously.

She had bought some potions for old age diseases from Mr. Moon.

Dorian took a deep breath, shook his head and said:

"Need not."

Fors immediately relaxed a little:

"Teacher, I dreamed that you encountered the negative effects of the seal. Um, the doors and windows around me also underwent unnecessary changes, so I came to take a look."

Dorian looked up at the open window and said solemnly:

"Your dream was correct. I almost died just now, but at the most critical moment, the seal took effect again..."

Having said this, he suddenly stood up and said to Fors:

"Quick! Take me somewhere else. I'm worried about other family members getting into accidents!"

Fors didn't hesitate. She immediately grabbed the teacher's arm and asked for the exact location.

Their figures quickly faded and disappeared.

After traveling through the spiritual world filled with layers of color and light mist for several seconds, Fors and Dorian suddenly left their current environment and landed in a place that looked like a study.

There are several people standing here. They are all members of Abraham's family who possess different seals and can "travel".

"Villos? Why are you here?" Dorian asked.

Velos and the others shook their heads at the same time, confused and frightened.

The next second, countless bright stars emerged from the void.

These starlights quickly gathered together, turned into one thing after another and fell to the ground.

There are miniature starlight gates, crystal balls made of insects, translucent keys of strange shapes, and bright flames burning quietly...

For some reason, Dorian, Velos, and the others suddenly had one term after another popping up in their minds:

Sequence 3 “Wanderer” extraordinary characteristics… Sequence 4 “Mystic” extraordinary characteristics… Sequence 1 “Star Key” extraordinary characteristics, Sequence 2 “Planeswalker” extraordinary characteristics…

Moreover, these are not single copies. Even the Sequence 1 Beyonder characteristic of "Star Key" has two copies! In addition, "Planeswalker" has three copies, and the rest have even more.

Several key members of the Abraham family and Fors opened their mouths little by little, and were unable to close them for a long time.

When all these extraordinary characteristics fell off, there were no more abnormalities around, and everything became quiet.
