Bang! Bang! Bang!
Behind the bronze door, the sound of banging continued, echoing in the empty underground, as if it came from an extremely distant ancient time.
Fors' body tensed up and she trembled uncontrollably. She lowered her voice involuntarily:
"What could be behind the door?"
"I don't know." Xio shook his head honestly and swallowed subconsciously.
She had just picked up the triangular thorn with her right hand, and the joints were exposed, the blood vessels were exposed, and it seemed that she was using a lot of force.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The knocks on the door came one after another, neither getting faster nor slower, maintaining the same rhythm. Each knock seemed to strike at Fors and Xio's hearts, making their hair stand on end and their scalps numb.
“I don’t think he’ll come out… If it was so easy to come out, he wouldn’t have waited until now.” Fors consoled himself with a slightly dry mouth.
Xio nodded vigorously and said:
"Once the material is formed, we will leave immediately."
In such an environment and atmosphere, her curiosity was completely unable to overcome her instinctive fear.
“Okay!” Fors cast his gaze towards the place where the two ancient evil spirits were purified, while complaining in his heart that the information provided by “The Moon” was not detailed enough, and it did not even mention that there was such a strange door under the castle.
At this moment, little bits of dark and glowing dust were like tiny gems, constantly falling to the ground, dividing into two piles and gathering together.
Around them, the almost invisible remaining spirituality each condensed into a seemingly illusory crystal.
Accompanying the "crystals" and dust are two different objects, one is a ring-shaped, completely transparent, as if it has been corroded, and the other is like an eye carved out of crystal, with a faint black gas flowing inside.
Seeing this scene, Fors suddenly had an epiphany:
Ancient vengeful spirits are ghost-like creatures with mixed extraordinary characteristics. Among them, the cursed objects are related to a certain part or item of their previous life. This, combined with the characteristics, has become the basis of their existence. Because of this, the cursed objects corresponding to different ancient vengeful spirits will not be the same in the same form, but the essence is the same. Dust is another characteristic and the source of most of their abilities. As for the residual spirituality, it is roughly equivalent to the blood of monsters and other materials.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The person behind the bronze door was very persistent and never stopped, constantly testing the nerves of Fors and Xio.
The two people were so frightened and cautious that their bodies were trembling slightly. In a trance, they even had the illusion that the door was shaking slightly. Their hearts were always in their throats, beating wildly.
In a state where she could be thrown toward the stairs at any time, Fors finally waited until the dust and curse of the ancient vengeful spirit condensed into shape.
While signaling Xio to be on guard, she squatted down and took out three square iron boxes that she had prepared.
After hesitating for a moment, Fors looked up at Xio and said:
"These two ancient vengeful spirits have been waiting for each other for too long. I want to separate a portion of their remains and bury them together... Well, in this case, I'll take a cursed object, and you'll take a pile of dust, and we'll split the remaining spirituality in half. Is that okay?"
Xio nodded without hesitation and said:
"good!"
Fors breathed a sigh of relief silently, pursed her lips, flipped through "Lemanno's Travel Notes", and slid her finger across one of the pages.
The five nails on her right hand suddenly grew an extra section, with sharp tips covered with black patterns and symbols.
This is the "Claw of Corrosion" that comes from the vampires.
After looking at the changes in his palm, Fors grabbed the ground and easily dug a hole, leaving traces of corrosion.
Then she placed the cursed crystal eyeball-like object and a pile of dust into the pit, and filled it with the bricks and soil she had just grabbed.
With a swish, swish, swish, she scratched lightly with her fingernails and wrote an epitaph on the flattened ground:
"I will come back for you, protect you, and never leave you."
After doing all this, Fors was about to sigh, but she happened to encounter the sound of clapping behind the bronze door, and it suddenly became louder.
Bang!
She was so frightened that she almost jumped up, and quickly put the remaining dust, the ring-shaped curse object and the remaining spirituality into different square iron boxes.
Then she packed the box, stood up, and walked slowly towards the winding narrow staircase with Xio.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The banging sounds behind the bronze door became more and more intense. Fors and Xio subconsciously clenched their teeth and quickly went up the stairs.
They ran faster and faster, and in the end, they were already running, not caring at all about whether they would fall on the stairs and roll down like a wheel.
Finally, sunlight appeared before Fors and Xio's eyes.
They shine in from the outside and sprinkle on the steps ahead, bright, pure and warm.
At this moment, the faint knocking sounds coming from underground suddenly stopped, and there was no follow-up.
Fors and Xio looked at each other, slowed down their pace, and took several leaps back to the upper level of the abandoned castle.
The two left without talking and returned to the edge of the forest.
After walking for a while, Fors finally calmed down, pursed his lips and said:
"It was really terrifying just now. Although the thing behind the bronze door didn't cause us any harm and didn't even reveal its appearance, I still think it is more terrifying than the ancient vengeful spirit and more terrifying than everything I've experienced before. In those few minutes, I couldn't help but imagine several miserable ways of dying, each more terrifying than the other, but none of them were as terrifying as the bang bang bang sound itself."
Xio tilted his head and nodded in agreement:
“Well, I felt like I was walking on the edge of a cliff.”
Fors was about to say something else when she suddenly saw two streams of bright red blood flowing from Xio's nose.
“Xiu, Xiu, your nose is bleeding!” Fors quickly reminded her friend.
Xio was stunned for a moment, his pupils slightly dilated as he said:
"You have a nosebleed too!"
"Ah?" Fors reached out his hand blankly and wiped the tip of his nose, only to feel that it was warm and the semen was a little thick.
She was stunned for a moment, and quickly raised her right hand to her eyes, only to see that it was stained with blood red, bright and eye-catching.
"Was it because I was too nervous before?" Fors asked to himself in confusion.
At this moment, she discovered that a light black spot had grown on her wrist at a speed visible to the naked eye under the sunlight that penetrated the shade of the trees.
The black spots spread rapidly, covering the forearms, backs of hands and other places.
"Ah!" Fors called out subconsciously and quickly looked up at Xio beside her.
The black spots on Xio's cheeks and neck immediately appeared in her eyes!
"This, this is not normal!" Fors blurted out.
Xio also noticed the abnormality between his friend and himself, and thought about it for a while and said:
"Do you remember what the female ghost said?
"She said that the previous guards were corrupted by the power that seeped out from behind the bronze gate!
“Will we also be eroded?”
Fors was stunned for a second, then nodded solemnly:
“It’s possible!”
She quickly took out the potion she had prepared earlier, gave some to Xio, then unscrewed the lid and gulped down two bottles.
However, the condition of the two did not improve at all. The black spots grew more and more, until their vision began to blur.
Thump, thump! Not long after, Fors, who had tried to save herself to no avail, heard her own heartbeat and felt her body begin to lose strength.
Unable to think of any more solutions, she moved her lips a few times, gritted her teeth, turned her body abruptly, took a few steps sideways, and distanced herself.
Then, she lowered her head and recited Mr. Fool’s honorific name.
In just ten seconds, a deep red light appeared in front of her eyes, drowning her like a tide.
A few roars and mutterings flashed by, and Fors saw the familiar mottled long table and the ten high-backed chairs opposite it.
She soon discovered that the dizziness and blurred vision in her head had completely disappeared, and there were no strange black spots on her spirit body.
“Thank you for your help.” Fors quickly stood up and saluted the figure shrouded in thick gray fog at the top of the bronze table.
Then, she heard Mr. Fool say in a calm tone:
"Your spirit has been corrupted by some force.
"It's all right now."
Has she been purified by Mr. Fool? Fors's heart moved. Just as he was about to ask how to save Xio, his eyes suddenly turned red and another light rose.
After a short interval, she found herself back in the real world and in the Deleir Forest. The black spots on the back of her hands and wrists were fading and receding rapidly, and the blood that kept dripping from her nose had stopped.
Turning around, he saw Xio weakly holding onto a tree next to him, his face covered in black spots, looking extremely scary. The muscles on both sides of Fors's neck tensed suddenly, and his thoughts began to race.
A few seconds later, she quickly approached, pressed down on Xio's shoulders, and said quickly:
“I have a way to save you, but you need to do it according to my description!
"Read in ancient Hermetic language, the fool who does not belong to this era..."
Xio struggled to open his swollen eyelids, looked at Fors for two seconds, and then recited in a low voice:
“Fools who do not belong to this age;
“The mysterious master above the gray fog;
"The Yellow and Black King who controls good luck..."
Before he finished speaking, Xio was shocked to see a deep red starlight pouring out from the void and engulfing him.
The indescribable roar lasted for a second and disappeared from Xio's ears. She then found herself in an ancient and majestic palace, sitting at a long table with mottled green. There was endless gray-white mist under her feet, and in front of her was a figure looking down at her, giving her a majestic feeling.
This scene seemed both strange and familiar to her. She had seen it once in a "dream" and had never thought about it again after the exorcism ceremony.
That purification actually didn't work...Xiu suddenly had this thought, and stood up carefully, bowing to the figure shrouded in gray mist:
"Are you the great Yellow and Black King?"
She didn't seem too surprised or frightened, as if she had expected it.
“You can just call me Mr. Fool. Please take a seat.” The figure with an aura as vast as a mountain and an ocean responded calmly.
Xio bowed again and sat down, making sure that he had gotten over the bad state he was in.
She looked around, thought for a moment and said:
"Dear Mr. Fool, does Fors Wall have a seat here?"
The Fool, who was shrouded in gray fog, nodded slightly and said:
"yes."
Xiu was silent for a second, then spoke directly:
"Can I join in like her?"
The Fool chuckled:
“This was a party they organized themselves, convened by me.
“There are still seats available and you can join.
"Draw a card. They all use one of the main tarot cards as their code name."
Xio didn't ask any more questions or say much, and nodded immediately:
"Yes, Mr. Fool."
A deck of tarot cards immediately appeared on the long bronze table in front of her.
Xio stretched out his right hand, cut the cards solemnly, drew one, and turned it over on the table.
Her card depicts an angel with a trumpet and the dead awaiting redemption.
The "Judgment" card!
