Chapter 16: Singing in unison

Inside the Thunder Church, the dome is high and wide, the arches are connected, and the murals on all sides are connected without any blank space. The main colors are gold and blue, which makes people walking inside subconsciously feel sacred and solemn, and they can't help but lower their heads.

Alger Wilson often came into contact with secret entities and had long gatherings in palaces that looked like the abodes of gods. He no longer had the same feelings as before and was no longer as awed. However, he did not show this. Like the sailors around him, he always looked down at the ground, walked lightly, and even dared not breathe clearly.

In a quiet atmosphere, they were led by the pastor to the clergy residence at the back of the church and each received a room.

After closing the door, Alger could only see the blood-red moonlight shining in through the window, making the environment gloomy and eerie, while countless ghostly spirits seemed to be watching the real world through a thin curtain.

Whenever a "blood moon" appears, spirituality will always rise, the power from the spiritual world and hell will be greatly enhanced, and the negative emotions of living beings will also explode. The higher the sequence, the more obvious the feeling.

Faintly, Alger heard crying, shouting, and whispering. This was completely different from the solemn feeling he had experienced in the Thunder Church before.

A series of illusory arms seemed to appear before his eyes, extending from the walls, the floor, and the ceiling like a three-dimensional pale forest.

Alger knew about the anomalies during the "blood moon", so he took off his captain's hat without panic, went into the bathroom, and washed his face with tap water.

During this process, he suddenly heard a distant and beautiful singing voice.

The song was vague, as if it came from the center of the island, and it surrounded Alger, as if it was right next to him. It did not make people feel scared. It was like a woman who was away from her family, relatives, and lover, standing on the edge of a cliff, looking at the surging tide, singing softly, and feeling very sad.

Alger pulled off a towel, wiped his face, and then listened attentively for a few seconds.

He gradually frowned, took out a small iron box from the secret pocket of his priest robe, and put it close to his ear.

It contained the extraordinary characteristic of "Ocean Singer" that he bought from "The World". He suspected that the residual spirit in the item had temporarily grown under the influence of the blood moon.

As the iron box got closer, part of the song beside Alger's ear suddenly became clearer, and emotions such as melancholy, sadness, longing, and pain seemed to be tangible.

However, apart from this, there is still a faint and ancient singing voice coming, which is clearly distinguished from the clear part, as if they are singing in unison!

"Whose singing is this? It sounds like an elf's... an item within the church that originated from an elf? Did my Beyonder characteristic of "Ocean Singer" originate from an elf?" Alger nodded with some speculation.

Because they are all "sailor" paths, the Storm Church has been collecting elven relics. Some of them have been made into potions, some have been used as seals and isolated underground, and some have less negative effects and have been rewarded to clergy. Therefore, it is not surprising that similar things would stimulate each other and cause abnormalities on the "Night of the Blood Moon".

If it was a magical item, then there would be no problem at all. If it was a sealed item, the fact that the song could penetrate the isolation meant that it was definitely not a simple item... Alger collected his thoughts, brushed his teeth, and lay down on the bed.

He quickly fell asleep and entered into a dream.

After an unknown amount of time, Alger suddenly became somewhat sober. He vaguely knew that he was dreaming, but he was able to look around actively.

He found that above him was the rippling deep blue sea, which overlapped layer by layer, so that the sky was not visible at all. In front of him was a magnificent palace that seemed to be made of corals. It was tall, magnificent, dark and gloomy.

Alger subconsciously walked towards the palace and entered the open door.

Inside, huge coral pillars stand tall, supporting an exaggerated dome, and the walls and ceilings are covered with murals depicting the horror of storms.

At the end of hundreds of meters away, a chair inlaid with sapphires, emeralds and round pearls is located on nine steps, which is particularly eye-catching.

Alger looked over and saw a woman sitting there wearing a simple and elegant long dress. She had black hair tied up in a high bun, soft contours and delicate features. She had a beauty that was not prejudiced by the changing times.

The woman had a cold expression, slightly pointed ears, and deep brown eyes. She looked down at Alger.

In her hand she was playing with a golden wine glass with intricate patterns.

Just as Alger was about to speak, a silver light suddenly shone in the woman's eyes, as if lightning had flashed and rushed out, piercing through the dream!

Huh... Alger turned over and sat up, taking a breath subconsciously, and felt that the dream just now was both blurry and clear.

Among them, what is blurry is the woman's appearance, the details of the murals and the specific appearance of the coral palace; what is clear is the pair of lightning-like eyes and the slightly pointed ears.

A high-level elf? The item she left behind, under the influence of the blood moon, resonated with my "Ocean Singer" Beyonder characteristic, and even affected my dreams? Alger made a guess while casually thinking about which item it could be.

Because of his low status, he knew only a limited number of sealed objects and magical items, and he also knew some knowledge that others did not know, so he soon had a goal:

“‘Natural Scourge’ Cosinamu?

"The Book of Natural Disasters that He left behind should have been sent to Pasu Island...

“After I finish my report and leave here, I will consult Mr. Fool to see if what happened just now will leave any negative impact…”

Alger didn't dare to recite the honorific name of "The Fool" in the headquarters of the Church of Storms.

After daybreak, he showed no signs of abnormality. Led by servants, he entered a room with a long table and was questioned by three "Substitute Punishers" deacons.

Among these three deacons, only one has dark blue hair, because this is not a change that will definitely occur after taking the "Sailor" path potion, but this trait will be inherited quite tenaciously, just like the elves, who originally had more black hair than blue hair, but in modern times, most of the half-bloods with elven blood have blue hair.

Alger sat down at the head of the long table and answered the deacons' questions in an orderly manner, telling them what he had done, what he planned to do, what he had succeeded in, and what he had failed in.

This would be compared with the accounts of other crew members to prevent anyone from lying.

At the end of the report, the dark blue-haired deacon glanced at Alger and asked in a thick voice:

"Do you know 'Admiral of the Stars' Cattleya?"

Not only do I know him... Alger was almost frightened, and after thinking for a while, he answered:

"I saw you at the Pirate Convention."

The deacon did not dwell on the previous question and said directly:

"Try to get to know her and learn about Gehrman Sparrow from her."

So that's how it is... because Hermann hunted the "Blood Admiral"? Alger pretended to be puzzled and asked:

"What did Gehrman Sparrow do again?"

The dark blue-haired butler said unhappily:

"He almost destroyed Bayam! Well, this is not something you should know. Anyway, remember that Gehrman Sparrow is a very dangerous guy. There is a secret evil organization behind him. That organization has demigods and is hostile to the Rose School!"

Almost destroyed Bayam? The organization had a demigod? Hostile to the Rose School? Alger deliberately did not hide his surprise.

He thought that Hermann received extra attention because he hunted down "Blood Admiral" Senior, but things were much more complicated and exaggerated than he imagined!

What on earth did Gehrman Sparrow do? I have to look for the scene when I pass by Bayam...Also, isn't the Aurora Society the mortal enemy of our Tarot Club? Hasn't Mr. Fool always been targeting the True Creator? How did it become, no, there is another Rose School? Alger muttered to himself.

As for the fact that Tarot had a demigod, he was not surprised. He even felt that this was in line with common sense. How could an ancient being not have a demigod under his command?

Moreover, the fact that Vice Admiral Hurricane Qi Lingos died mysteriously and silently had already made him believe that Mr. Fool had a High-Sequence Follower!

Fortunately, my meeting with Hermann was very secret, otherwise things would be troublesome... Alger listened quietly, without asking any more questions. As usual, he accepted the task, stood up and left the room.

…………

Outside No. 160 Böklund Street in the northern district of Backlund, servants lined up in two rows to welcome their masters.

Dwayne Dantès, with gray hair at the temples and deep blue eyes, was wearing a swallowtail suit, a silk hat, and holding a gold-studded cane. Accompanied by his butler Walter and his valet Richardson, he walked through the servants and arrived at the entrance of the three-story building.

Waiting here was Tanya, the housekeeper he had chosen this morning.

She was in her early forties, with her hair neatly tied up in a bun. She had ordinary facial features but a capable temperament. She wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses and a long dress that was a mixture of black and white, but different from that of a maid.

Klein learned from the information and interviews that this lady was born in the East District and was a believer of the Goddess of Night. At the age of 15, she chose to receive training from a charity fund of the church and became a qualified maid.

Thanks to more than ten years of hard work and free courses at night school, she worked her way up from the lowest maid to head maid in a wealthy family's home. After the couple's daughter got married, she followed them and worked as a housekeeper until the family encountered a financial crisis and was forced to leave. She is now very experienced in household management.

As soon as the lady signed the contract and received the first payment of 1,000 pounds this month from Dwayne Dantes, she started arguing with the butler Walter about whether to buy or rent the carriage.

In her opinion, since Mr. Dantes' goal was to enter high society, move to the West End, or even Queens, his carriage would definitely need to be specially customized so as not to lose his status. Before that, it would be a more reasonable choice to rent a high-end carriage for a year and then customize it when things were promising. This would not be a waste, nor would it be impolite.

She convinced Walter, and of course Klein, because renting a high-end carriage for a year including the horse only cost 88 pounds, and a two-wheeled one cost 42 pounds.

As expected, the person who controls the family's spending must be someone who is relatively good at calculations... Klein sighed, smiled and nodded at Tanya, and walked through the door of the three-story building.

This will be the next stage for the wealthy Dwayne Dantes.
