Chapter 40 Seal

The black figure froze there, loosened the hand that was pinching Bernadette's neck, and seemed to be staring at the "mysterious queen" with eyes that did not exist at all.

A dry, hoarse voice then echoed back in the hidden space:

"home……"

The voice carried a hint of hesitation, confusion, and a sense of seeking confirmation, as if it came from another world.

The erosion that Bernadette had suffered disappeared, and the connection between her and her own seal was instantly restored.

The "pale death" began to kill her little by little, which helped her resist the gradual confusion of her thoughts and maintain basic clarity and rationality.

Just as she opened her mouth to say something else, the black figure suddenly stretched out his hand again.

But this time, instead of squeezing Bernadette's neck, it pushed hard.

Along with this push came the collapse of the hidden space, and a voice with obvious pain, as if resisting something:

"leave!"

As the voice echoed back to the room, the black figure disappeared out of thin air.

A moment later, it appeared on the high platform in the center and sat on the huge iron-black high-back chair.

Two cracks immediately appeared on its face, as if it had grown two asymmetrical eyes.

However, the "eye" had no pupil and was blood red.

Immediately afterwards, another crack appeared below the two "eyes", which was also filled with pure blood-red light.

This finally gave the black figure a "mouth".

It faced Bernadette, and the voice with obvious pain, as if resisting something, echoed around it again:

“Get out of here!”

After being pushed out more than ten meters, Bernadette easily stood on her feet, but she did not follow the voice's command to leave the "Black Emperor" mausoleum. She stood there, staring blankly at the central platform and the black figure, her expression revealing a sadness that was difficult to conceal and she didn't want to conceal.

She could sense it, and she was certain that the black figure was her father, the man who called himself "Caesar", Roselle Gustav.

The next second, more cracks appeared on the black figure, starting from the head and going down, and blood-red flowers bloomed in different parts of the body.

This made Roselle look like only a layer of shadow remained, inside of which was a blood-red object emitting pure light.

When Klein, who was above the gray fog, saw this scene, he naturally thought of the red moon in the sky.

At this moment, Roselle seemed to be turning into a shadow, trying to cover the red moon, but it was torn open one after another, allowing more and more moonlight to shine into reality.

When these cuts are connected together, the black shadow will completely split apart, giving birth to a new red moon.

At that time, something extremely terrifying is bound to happen.

At this moment, Roselle's black figure became much more illusory, as if it had become some kind of illusion.

This made him look like he was isolated in another world, with an invisible barrier between him and reality.

Then, Russell raised his shadowy right arm with difficulty and pinched his forehead.

The frequency of blood-red cracks on his body suddenly dropped to the extreme, but the "eyes" that had existed before began to blink, again and again.

However, this did not bring any adverse effects to the surroundings. It seemed to be just a simple change in order - the trend of "new birth" of blood-red cracks was distorted to the original gradual activity.

After completing this task, Roselle raised his head and looked at Bernadette who was dozens of meters away. He laughed in a dry and hoarse voice:

“You really have become a big shot in the mysterious world, to be able to come here by yourself.

"Come here, let me see what my little princess looks like now."

Bernadette's eyes suddenly turned red and she took a step forward.

Russell laughed again:

“When I made picture books for you, compiled teaching materials, and invented various small games, you were only that old, but now you can come and save your poor old father.

"I remember that when you were a child, you loved all the clothes I designed for you. Unfortunately, after you grew up, you can no longer wear cake skirts..."

The great emperor began to talk a lot, as if he had reached the twilight of his life, always enjoying reminiscing about the beautiful scenes in the past.

Bernadette walked faster and faster, and Klein above the gray fog frowned slightly.

Suddenly, Emperor Roselle lowered his head a little and said very forcefully:

“Stop!”

His voice was filled with unspeakable pain.

Bernadette was stunned for a moment, then quickly slowed down and stopped.

As she looked at the dark shadow, an indescribable sadness gradually revealed in her eyes.

Russell raised his head again, coughed lightly and said:

"Are you wondering why the Black Emperor's mausoleum is engraved with the order and customs he established? Actually, this is not necessary. I just want those who see it to remember my greatness..."

Before he finished speaking, the emperor tightly grasped the armrest beside him with one hand, lowered his voice, and said in great pain:

"No, come closer!

“I am contaminated…”

The sadness in Bernadette's eyes grew a little more intense.

Her guess just now was finally confirmed.

At this moment, the bright red cracks on Russell's face became chaotic, sometimes "closing" and sometimes "opening", no longer having a unified will.

The emperor seized the opportunity, straightened his body slightly, looked at Bernadette, and shouted with difficulty:

"Seal me!"

Seal... "Mysterious Queen" Bernadette silently repeated the word, her blue eyes quickly became moist and covered with a faint mist.

Even though she has lived for many, many years, even though she is no longer the little girl she was before, she still cannot stop the changes in her inner emotions at this moment.

However, she did not ask the reason, nor did she hesitate. She just struggled a little, then firmly and unwaveringly raised her right hand and pressed it on the pale metal mask.

She made the decision with extraordinary calmness, just like she had done in the past few years when facing the various major events that "Dawn of the Elements" had encountered.

On the surface of "Pale Death", the metal softened instantly, reconstructing a new face with a pair of black eyes.

Within the deep black eyes, pale lines stood out, outlining an extremely complex and mysterious three-dimensional symbol. It looked like a bird with abnormally long feathers, or a feathered serpent with its body coiled up.

The symbol absorbed the surrounding light and quickly became solid. It then left Bernadette's eyes, stretched out its "body", and flew towards Roselle Gustav who was sitting on the iron-black chair.

Along the way, this strange symbol made the surroundings increasingly darker, causing the floor tiles and stone walls to weather and decay once again, as if the god in charge of death had made the final judgment.

The falling gravel and the raised dust followed the materialized symbol and came to Roselle, then coiled up and wrapped around the rather illusory black figure that seemed to be in another world.

During this process, Roselle couldn't control himself several times and tried to leave the iron-black chair, but sat back down again without resisting the seal cast by Bernadette.

As the symbol merged into his figure, he suddenly established a connection with the "Pale Death". He saw the illusory god towering above countless undead souls, and saw the swollen body wandering like a water ghost in a dark river.

Roselle's breath disappeared immediately, and the bright red cracks closed one after another.

What awaits this great emperor is a sleep as peaceful as the night.

And that symbol will solidify in Roselle's figure, always exerting influence until "Pale Death" no longer responds here.

In just the blink of an eye, several blood-red cracks appeared on Russell's body. After his aura had declined to the extreme, it gradually regained its vitality and fiercely fought against the materialized symbol.

Seeing this, Klein, who was above the gray fog, sighed, clenched his fist, and pressed it against his lower mouth.

The "curtain" he was wearing suddenly rose up, and the entire "Source Castle" began to "boil".

Silently, the breath of life that Roselle had just regained began to disappear again.

After disappearing to a certain extent, it is reborn again, and then is affected by the "pale death" and continues to disappear.

Klein used the extraordinary characteristics of the "Mysterious Servant" and the power of the "Source Castle" to directly "graft" new life and death together, omitting the process in between.

In this way, the contamination Roselle suffered could not be restored to the level that could break through the pale seal.

Then, Klein stretched out his right hand, mobilized the power of the "Source Castle", and outlined the mysterious symbol behind the "Fool" high-back chair in front of him - it was composed of half of the "Pupilless Eye" and half of the "Twisted Line".

This symbol absorbed the aura of the "Source Castle" and quickly turned into a physical entity. With a wave of Klein's wrist, it fell into the prayer light spot representing Bernadette, landed on the black figure of Roselle, and merged into his body.

——Whenever that kind of "graft" is about to disappear, the symbol directly related to "The Fool" and "Source Castle" will attract new power and complete the grafting again.

In the state of continuous passing away and rebirth, the outline of Russell's pure shadow-like face began to take shape. Then, he raised his head and glanced at the top of the mausoleum, as if he was gazing at an infinite height.

He then retracted his gaze and looked at Bernadette, and said with an unusually weak smile:

"This seal is good. I can sleep peacefully now..."

At this point, he frowned slightly and asked with a changed tone:

"Why are you dressed like this? Who taught you to do that?"

Bernadette felt dazed after listening to this, as if she had returned to her youth.

At that time, whenever she dressed up to attend other nobles' balls, Roselle would ask a series of questions with a similar expression and tone.

The mist in her eyes suddenly became obvious. She could no longer control herself and shouted in a low, suppressed voice:

"dad……"

Roselle's face, which only showed the outline of his facial features, softened instantly, then became stern and said sternly:

“Leave.

"You are never allowed to come back!"

Bernadette opened her mouth and wanted to say something, but her vision went dark, as if she saw the shadow of order.

The next second, she found herself back at the edge of the original island.

Bernadette stared blankly at the mountain in the middle of the original island for a few seconds, then slowly turned around and walked towards the sea.

This time, she was no longer stubborn and didn't look back. Every few steps, she would stop and turn around to take a look.

Soon, she returned to the Dawn, walked into the captain's room, and opened the room specially used for collection.

At a glance, Bernadette saw picture books, stacks of teaching materials, clothes, skirts, chess that only a few people in the world could play, and neatly stacked building blocks.

She leaned her back against the wooden door, slowly shrunk down, and sat on the floor.

She looked up at the gloomy sky outside the captain's room window, pinched her lower lip with her right thumb and index finger, and whistled a melodious, gentle, slightly sad, and calming melody.

As the melody echoed, drops of water slid down Bernadette's face and dripped onto the floor.

After an unknown amount of time, a voice that seemed to be suppressed in the throat rang out from the captain's room:

"dad……"
