Chapter 51: "God of Gamblers" Dawn

The core rules of Texas Hold'em are very simple. You use your two hole cards and five community cards to choose any three combinations. Whoever has the biggest combination wins. The community cards are dealt in three rounds, three cards in the first round, one card in the second round, and one card in the third round. In each round, you can call, follow, and raise bets until no one raises more, or only one person is left.

Klein played with the chips in his hand and divined that he would have a lucky moment in the next few rounds, but he couldn't tell which one it was. After all, this was just a simple and quick divination, and the effect was not that good.

Playing with ordinary people and low-sequence players in this way is not a problem as long as you find the right strategy, but it is definitely not possible to deal with demigods. Even if you want to win against middle-sequence players, it is difficult... Do you have to close your eyes and do a complete "dream divination" every time you play a hand? Haha, if you do this, Dwayne Dantès might get the nickname "Sleeping God of Gamblers"... Klein sighed secretly and continued his previous style of folding after reading the cards. He has currently lost a small blind and a big blind (that is, half of the ante and one ante, and the ante in this game is 1 pound), and then it is his turn for the two hands.

At this time, Klein noticed something: Qiunas Kilger, the deputy director of MI9, lost 20 pounds to Admiral Amyrius in this round.

The "bribery" was successful... Admiral Amyrius should have been able to see that Qonas had used the power of the "Corrupted Baron", but he might not have known that the deputy director of MI9 was a demigod... The next hand, hey, it's definitely going to be fun... Klein was in high spirits. After the waiter handed him two new cards, he didn't even break up a corner to check the cards. Instead, he directly pressed the metal chip he was playing with onto the cards, showing an attitude of following through without even looking at the cards.

After two people folded their cards, Amyrius Levitt, who had a serious and old-fashioned temperament, casually looked at his cards, counted out chips worth 5 pounds, threw them into the middle of the table, and raised the bet as expected.

Another person folded, and Senator Macht followed with a 5-pound bet. Then, the tough guy Qonas Kilger raised the bet again, throwing out a total of 20 pounds in chips.

Colonel Calvin checked his cards again and indicated that he wanted to follow the bet.

After the remaining player folded his cards, Dwayne Dantes grabbed a handful of chips and threw them out without counting them.

"20 pounds, call." The waiter in charge of counting the chips said accurately after just one glance.

"I thought it was 50 pounds. It seems you are not familiar with this kind of chips." Dwayne Dantès, who had gray hair and outstanding temperament, said with a smile.

However, he did not actually pay the remaining £30.

At this point everyone had expressed their opinions, and it was once again Amyrius Levitt's turn.

Without even glancing at the rest of the crowd, the admiral picked up five ten-pound chips and threw them out:

"More."

He showed no emotion at all, as if he was just asking for a cup of tea, but his indescribable majesty and his behavior of continuously raising the bet without even seeing any community cards made the atmosphere at the entire table quite frozen.

This situation often means that Admiral Amyrius has excellent cards, either a pair of aces, a pair of kings, or an a plus a king.

Senator Macht decided to fold. Qonas Kilger touched his tall nose bridge, looked around with his dark blue eyes and said:

"Call."

Colonel Calvin once again confirmed his cards, hesitated for about ten seconds and then decided to fold.

Dwayne Dantès touched the metal chips on the two cards and smiled.

"Call."

After this round of statements, there were only three players left in the game. Then, the waiter in charge of dealing the cards brought the three community cards to the center of the table and spread them out:

"2 of spades, 9 of hearts, king of spades."

The first person to call the bet was Admiral Amyrius Levitt. He leaned forward slightly and said in an extremely oppressive manner:

"Fifty pounds."

He directly increased the bet from 1 pound to 50 pounds!

Senator Macht, Colonel Galvin and others, even though they did not participate in the game, felt a little suffocated at this moment.

"..."Qunas Kilger's body trembled slightly, but he finally grabbed the 50-pound chip and threw it out.

Dwayne Dantès glanced at the deputy director of MI9 and smiled as if he felt no pressure at all:

"Call."

Hearing this, Colonel Calvin turned his head and nodded to Dwayne Dantès, whose blue eyes were as deep as a lake at night, to show his approval.

In his opinion, Admiral Amyrius's pressure would have no effect on someone whose goal was to lose money.

At this time, the red vest waiter issued the fourth community card:

"Nine of Spades."

Three spades appeared on the card, and the probability of a flush increased, but Admiral Amyrius still did not hesitate at all and calmly pushed out a stack of chips:

"100 pounds."

Qonas Kilger tapped his fingers on his hole cards several times, seeming to be unsure, but in the end, he still chose to call.

Dwayne Dantès glanced at the deputy director again and said with a gentle smile:

"Call."

He has not shown his own trump card until now, which makes Colonel Calvin a little worried. He thinks that such a performance is too much and is a gesture of giving away money. Admiral Amyrius, who has a relatively conservative style, may not accept it.

At this time, the red vest waiter issued the fifth community card:

"Two of Clubs."

In this way, the entire community card is completely formed:

"2 of spades, 9 of hearts, king of spades, 9 of spades, 2 of clubs."

"200 pounds." Admiral Amyrius pushed over a pile of metal chips with a loud noise, his momentum was extremely impressive.

Qonas Kilger took a deep breath and then pushed out two stacks of chips:

"Five hundred pounds."

This amount of money is equivalent to his official salary for half a year.

Is this a bluff? Colonel Galvin and Senator Macht looked at each other and felt that Major General Korg's behavior was a little too obvious and could be easily seen through.

You have to know that playing Texas Hold'em, in addition to money management and probability calculations, often also involves a kind of psychological game. Whether it is body language, facial expression, attitude, or raising style, it will reveal a person's cards.

Of course, there are also powerful players who will use these details to deliberately mislead their opponents.

Dwayne Dantès looked up and down at Qonas Kilger, then suddenly laughed and said the same thing as before:

"Call."

Admiral Amyrius raised his hands, ready to push out all the remaining chips and overwhelm the opponent with his momentum.

At this moment, his movements suddenly paused, and a hint of solemnity appeared on his expressionless face.

After a few seconds of silence, he said calmly:

"Call."

At this step, you can reveal your cards and compare them.

Admiral Amyrius turned over his cards first. An Ace of Spades and a Ten of Spades formed a flush with the 2, K and 9 of Spades on the community cards. This was considered a fairly large hand. The only cards larger than it were a full house, four of a kind, a straight flush and a royal flush.

"It's your turn." Amyrius urged Qonas.

Qiunas first turned over a card, which was a K of diamonds, which formed two pairs of K and 9 with the community cards.

Then he picked up the second hole card. At this time, the remaining cards on the red vest waiter's side became blurred.

Bang!

The trump card was thrown onto the table, revealing its appearance:

"Nine of Clubs!"

"What?" Congressman Macht and others exclaimed in surprise, some of them could not believe their eyes.

This means that Jonas Kilger has a full house, three nines and a pair of kings!

That's bigger than a flush!

"Sorry, Hulu." Qiunas looked at Admiral Amyrius and said with a smile.

Then, he turned to Dwayne Dantès and said:

"You can open your cards now."

"I'm also curious about what this card is." Dwayne Dantès smiled slightly, picked up the metal chips in front of him, and casually flipped over the two hole cards and threw them out.

“Eh…”

"What?"

Colonel Calvin and others rubbed their eyes.

Dwayne Dantes's cards are a very small pair:

"2 of hearts, 2 of diamonds."

And there happens to be a small pair on the public cards:

"2 of spades, 2 of clubs."

They make four of a kind, the smallest four of a kind, but bigger than any gourd!

"Praise the goddess!" Dwayne Dantès drew a crimson moon on his chest with a look of surprise, as if he had not expected it.

"It's a wonderful game." Admiral Amyrius was stunned for a moment, then clapped his hands softly.

Qonas Kilger looked at Dwayne Dantès deeply, then sighed and smiled:

"I didn't expect you to be the winner in the end."

Klein smiled back and muttered in his heart:

"It's only right that I beat you. On the one hand, Admiral Amyrius just likes to use his aura to oppress others, and he didn't really cheat with his extraordinary abilities. On the other hand, you focused all your attention and extraordinary abilities on Admiral Amyrius and ignored me. On the other hand, the person you played cards with was actually called 'Winner' Enuni."

Without looking at the cards, of course it all depends on luck!

When he pressed the metal chip onto the bottom card, Klein had already swapped positions with the "winner" Enuni, and they had become each other's appearances!

Although Colonel Calvin had asked him to lose the 1,000 pounds on purpose, after seeing Chounas Kilger, Klein decided to win some money.

This is not to say that he was reluctant to part with the money. His main purpose was to attract the attention of the demigod from the Ninth Military Intelligence Department and take the opportunity to get acquainted with him and establish contact!

Only in this way would Klein have a chance to obtain intelligence from Qonas Kilger and even complete the attack. After all, he was a demigod. If Backlund wanted to deal with him, he had to be cautious and careful. If he couldn't hit him with one strike or transfer him away from Backlund, he would rather give up the action. Otherwise, his purpose would be exposed and he would be watched by many demigods and even angels of Backlund.

From then until the end, Klein had both wins and losses. In the end, he not only kept the 1,000 pounds in chips, but also won nearly 1,000 pounds more. During this process, Colonel Calvin repeatedly signaled Dwayne Dantès to lose money, but he always evaded the question by saying that he was too lucky and could not lose no matter how he played.

After the card game was over, the first person to walk towards Dwayne Dantes with a smile was Major General Chounas Kilger.

ps: Texas Hold'em is written very briefly here, saving a lot of things, otherwise I have to explain what is the muzzle position, what is 3bet, what is the turn and the river. This is too troublesome and does not match the tone of the book. After all, this is a fantasy novel, not a card-playing novel. It cannot be changed from The Witcher 3 to Gwent 3. The focus is on the purpose of playing cards, not the playing itself. Therefore, I try to write it in the simplest and most understandable way, which may be very different from the actual calling and raising strategies, so do not imitate it.
