Chapter 51: Grounded Ritual Magic

Solve the bills with magic?

Should I curse the creditor to death directly or forge the banknotes?

I can't solve the problem, but I can solve you?

All kinds of thoughts jumped into Klein's mind, and the look in his eyes when he looked at Old Neil became a little strange.

He seriously considered calling the police, no, informing the Nighthawks.

Old Neil glanced at him and said unhappily:

"From your eyes, I see ignorance, stupidity, and a weak and shameful trust. Didn't Dunn tell you the motto of the secret peeper? Do whatever you want, but don't hurt!"

"Although this motto was first spread from within a secretive, evil organization, the Moss Ascetic Order, the Beyonders who chose the path of the Secret Peepers have proven its correctness with their own experience. As long as it is strictly followed and filled with awe, the risk of losing control will be minimized. The opposite inference also holds true."

"Your suspicion is an insult to me and to the Secret Peer!"

“I’m sorry.” Klein apologized without hesitation.

He had indeed forgotten the motto that Dunn Smith had once mentioned.

Old Neil wasn't really angry, he just smiled and said:

"Unfortunately, there are too few Beyonders who choose 'Fortune Teller', and there is no corresponding motto to help you."

But I have Emperor Roselle’s diary... Well, strictly abiding by the motto itself has a flavor of "acting"... Klein suddenly had an association and nodded as if he was thinking.

Old Neil said nothing more. He took the vase and other things off the heavy round table and put them in the corner.

Then, he took out a red candle and a dark black candle from the small silver box and explained casually:

"If ordinary people want to try ritual magic, they must choose a suitable date and time based on astrological results or read the corresponding manual, such as Sunday, which symbolizes the goddess, or the moon hour ruled by her. But for us extraordinary people, especially those who are good at this, these are not necessary. Our vigorous spirituality and our powerful astral bodies are the most critical factors."

"Of course, if you are not sure about the ritual magic you want to try, then choosing the right date and time can effectively increase the success rate."

"Oh yes, there is a premise that you must remember and strictly abide by!"

Old Neil placed the two candles, turned his body, looked at Klein, and said very seriously:

"Low-Sequence Beings themselves are not strong enough. Almost all the ritual magic they can perform is to pray for power and help from the outside. Therefore, they can only consider orthodox gods such as the Goddess and the Lord of Storms. Absolutely, absolutely do not try to communicate with unknown and unpredictable beings, even if someone believes in them, even if the recorded promises are full of **!"

“Believe me, don’t have any luck. Once you try, you will inevitably slide into the abyss. All your efforts and struggles can only slow down the speed, but cannot reverse the trend.”

"I'll remember that!" Klein replied in a deep voice, but he felt a little uneasy in his heart.

My own "lucky change ritual" seems to be praying for strength from some unknown and unpredictable existence...

And he really did obtain a power that even the senior Beyonder, The Hanged Man, could not believe, the power to pull them above the gray fog. Well, he should be a senior Beyonder...

Fortunately, I haven't gone crazy yet and there are no signs of losing control...

Worried about this matter, he took the initiative to change the subject:

"So, it would be best for the Nighthawks to ask the Goddess for help?"

"If you want to pray to the Lord of Storms, no one will stop you. But He may not respond, or He may respond with malice, which will distort the results of our ritual magic in an unpredictable direction." Old Neil successfully dispelled Klein's luck in a joking way.

There is no such thing as "best", only "must"!

After giving instructions, Old Neil picked up the red candle and said:

"Candles made of moonflowers, crimson sandalwood, etc., symbolize the Goddess's identity as the Crimson Lord in ritual magic."

He pointed to the dark candle and said:

"Candles made of nightshade and deep sleep flowers symbolize the night."

As he spoke, he placed the black one on the upper left side of the round table and the red one on the upper right side.

"Why are there only two candles symbolizing the goddess? She is also the mother of secrets, the queen of misfortune and fear, and the lord of sleep and silence."

Old Neil laughed:

"Yes, that is the question I wanted you to ask."

"Before they fell, the Moss Ascetic Order had a very good relationship with the Church. Some of their concepts and achievements in ritual magic have deeply influenced us."

"They believe that everything is a number, and every number has spirituality. In ritual magic, 0 represents the unknown and chaos, symbolizing the state before the birth of the world. 1 represents the beginning, representing the original creator. 2 symbolizes the world and gods born from His body. 3 represents the contact between gods and matter, and everything takes shape. Here, two candles are used to symbolize the goddess, and the third is left for ourselves."

"Which two candles and which two symbols to use depends on the effect that the ritual magic itself wants to achieve."

Three gives birth to all things? Everything is three? Klein couldn't help but think of some things he had come into contact with in his previous life.

Seeing that he was listening carefully, Old Neil took the third candle and said:

"This is the candle that symbolizes 'I'. It's a very ordinary candle, but with a little mint added. Remember, roses, lemons, mint, moonflowers, nightshades, and deep sleep flowers are all plants that are loved and favored by the goddess."

“The three candles, on the other hand, also symbolize the physical, spiritual and divine aspects of each person.”

After the description, Old Neil placed the third one in the center of the round table.

He then took out the prepared "Full Moon Essential Oil", a cauldron engraved with the holy emblem of darkness, a silver knife with gorgeous patterns, a cup of water, and a plate of coarse salt.

"For Beyonders who are not good at ritual magic, they will need bells, crystal balls, silver cups, incense and other items to assist them. However, Secret Peepers and Diviners do not need these items. These items are enough."

Old Neil placed the parchment with the bill drawn on it next to the cauldron directly below and pressed down a corner with a special feather pen.

He turned sideways and said to Klein:

"Ritual magic requires a clean, undisturbed spiritual environment, which we must create by ourselves. The method is to first enter into meditation and accumulate our spirit, and then use auxiliary items to guide our power out and build it around us, such as the 'holy night powder' I used at Riel Bieber's house, and the ritual silver dagger I will use soon."

"During the whole process, we must determine the symbolic symbols and corresponding spells based on the desired results. It is best to use the Hermetic language for the spells because the ancient Hermetic language comes from nature and is similar to the ancient dragon language and the ancient elven language. The effect is very direct and lacks the necessary concealment and protection. It is easy to put the user in danger. This is why it has been improved. However, it is indeed more effective."

"Okay, I'm going to concentrate on the ritual magic now. I won't explain it to you anymore. Watch and listen carefully, and write down any questions you have. You can ask me again when everything is over."

“Okay.” Klein took two steps back and looked at Old Neil intently.

Old Neil's eyes quickly turned dark, and an invisible wind began to swirl around him.

He was silent for a while, and then, from left to right and from top to bottom, he lit three candles in turn by rubbing his spirit with matter.

Then he took the silver knife, plunged it into the coarse salt, and chanted the incantation written in Hermetic:

"I sanctify you, the pure silver blade!"

"I cleanse and purify you so that you can serve me in ritual!"

"In the name of the Night Goddess, the Crimson Lord,"

"You are sanctified!"

After saying these short and powerful ancient words, Old Neil pulled out a small silver knife, inserted it into the glass of water, then lifted it up and pointed it at the space outside the round table.

He pointed the tip of the knife at the outer circle, then took a step and walked around the round table. With every step, Klein could feel the invisible power gushing out from the silver knife. They were full of spirituality and connected with the air to form a sealed wall.

After one circle, the altar was isolated from the surrounding area.

Old Neil stood in front of the round table, put down the silver knife, picked up the bottle of "Full Moon Essential Oil", and dropped three drops on the black, crimson and ordinary candles respectively.

Sizzle!

A thin mist filled the air and everything seemed mysterious.

Old Neil put down the glass bottle and looked at the parchment paper in silence for two minutes. Then he picked up the quill and drew the symbol of control on the "bill" - a square that framed all the contents, indicating that he had control over the debt.

Then he drew a "X" to indicate elimination.

When he got here, he took the imitation parchment in one hand and tapped his forehead with the other hand to open his spiritual vision.

There was another invisible and vigorous power, and Old Neil chanted in a low voice:

"I pray for the strength of the night;"

"I pray for the power of crimson;"

"I pray for the favor of the goddess;"

“Pray to bring me the money to pay this bill.”

"O night herb, herb of the red moon, please pass on your power to my spell!"

"O Moonflower, herb of the red moon, please pass your power to my spell!"

Klein was stunned as he listened to this. Various thoughts were igniting in his mind:

Is this kind of spell also okay?

Although it is written and spoken in Hermetic language...

Isn't this too direct, too simple and too down-to-earth?

Will the goddess be angry and double the bill?

At this moment, the candle light suddenly became brighter!

After Old Neil finished reciting, he closed his eyes for two minutes, picked up the "Full Moon Essential Oil", and dripped a drop on each of the three candles.

Then he grabbed the imitation parchment, brought it close to the candle that symbolized "I", waited until it was lit, and immediately threw it into the cauldron.

Old Neil closed his eyes again, as if feeling the burning of the bill.

After a while, he opened his eyes and looked towards the cauldron with the black holy emblem, only to see that the imitation parchment had completely burned, leaving only ashes.

"Praise the Goddess!" Old Neil tapped his chest four times, forming a crimson moon, and then extinguished the candles in the reverse order of the original order.

After doing all this, he took the silver knife and poked through the invisible walls around him.

After a sudden gust of wind, Old Neil was obviously relieved and said:

"alright."

"Is that all?" Klein asked in astonishment. "The bill was settled? How did you settle it?"

"I don't know either. Anyway, it will be resolved in a reasonable way." Old Neil spread his hands and smiled.

This... Klein didn't know what expression or words to use to respond.

Isn't this a bit unreliable?
