The first update of today has been delivered. Happy birthday to all the curly-haired baboons.
I have to say, I was really surprised when you brought up the birthday celebration of Curly Baboon, and then decided on April 1st, the day when the mysterious book was published.
Two years have passed unknowingly, and the team of Curly Baboons has become increasingly powerful. Of course, I will call you that when I am joking, but in serious situations, I still prefer to call you book friends and readers, so that everyone is on the same level.
Initially, I planned to write The Mystery in one and a half to two years, but when I actually started writing, I knew that one and a half years would definitely not be enough, because there were too many details and too many stories to tell, and if I rushed it too much, it would lose the charm and the feeling I wanted.
This is the book with the longest writing cycle for me. However, because I always keep at least one chapter in draft and have one day off every week, I am not as tired and anxious as when I was writing Martial Arts and The Late Life. Well, when I was writing Arcane and Destruction, I was still young and energetic, so I didn’t have too many feelings. However, later, when I was writing the sequel of Arcane, I felt very tired. After all, the book was finished, and I wanted to rest and didn’t want to write at all.
Here, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone for their support and companionship. Your reading has given me money and laughter. Your comments, your exchanges, and your various attempts have given me spiritual happiness and satisfaction. So, I really want to congratulate you all here. Happy 2nd birthday to the Curly Baboons!
Let's talk about the writing in March. Because I slowed down the pace and wrote some details and side stories, I felt better. As expected, writing requires a balance between relaxation and tension. It is not necessarily a good thing to keep rushing the progress and keeping a tight pace. Of course, writing details and side stories is also a very painful thing. After all, there are more than 4 million words. Many things that should be written have been written. Repeating them will lose interest and readability. This forces me to constantly use my brain to find new entry points or new writing techniques, and strive to give you a different reading experience.
For me, this is also a stage of experimentation and gain, because I really experience a new worldview. Some new structures and new stories can directly bring new plots and extend new narrative techniques. This is a very good thing. Routines are inevitable, but we must strive to create new routines and use better narrative techniques to better express what we want to express.
I will elaborate on this point in more detail after I finish writing The Secret, so I won’t go into details here.
Judging from the feedback from subscriptions, the effect is quite good. The increase in subscriptions for just one or two albums cannot prove the whole story, because it may be a gimmick and something exciting to watch, but the subscriptions have remained at a very high level, proving that the content in March was still very popular. Most of the time, the subscriptions fluctuate within the range of 59,000 plus or minus 2,000, and many times even stabilize at more than 60,000. In terms of the average level, it is much higher than the sixth part.
Of course, it's not without problems, because I put so much thought into the plot and the angles and narrative techniques that many times the writing is hasty and not polished enough, and some of the excesses fail to support the tension of the plot, which all need to be improved.
Well, it’s April, a new January, a new beginning of the two-year anniversary, and the Curly Baboon’s birthday. Please support me by giving me the guaranteed monthly pass!
By the way, I have something to do tomorrow morning, so the second update will still be at 7pm. Thank you all for your support.
