Huo Sen was furious when he saw her cold attitude. "Do I disgust you so much?"
Jian Ci answered without thinking: "Yes."
Huo Sen was so angry that he kicked the coffee table. "Hey! I really don't understand. It's been two years. It's time for you to calm down."
But Jian Ci didn't care at all. She just drank her tea and sat on the other side. Without raising her head, she said, "If you had said this before I recovered my memory, it might have been useful."
Huo Sen raised his eyebrows slightly and laughed, "Have you recovered your memory?"
Jian Ci nodded, "Yes."
Huo Sen chuckled and said nonchalantly, "Even if you recover your memory, I'm not afraid. I don't think there was anything wrong with what I did back then. Even if it happened again, I would still choose to let her be the scapegoat."
That matter-of-fact remark made Jian Ci's grip on the teacup tighten slightly, "So there's nothing much for us to say."
After saying that, he put the teacup back on the table and stood up and walked into the room.
Huo Sen looked at her indifferent back and couldn't understand why he had saved her with good intentions in the beginning, but in the end he seemed to have done something wrong and caused her to break up with him.
The more he thought about it, the more irritated he became. Finally, he said impatiently, "In my heart, no one is more important than you. I chose to save you. What's the problem with that?"
Jian Ci paused and said, "Yes. The problem is, you shouldn't lie to her."
Huo Sen said in a cold tone, "If I didn't lie to her, how could she listen to me and die?"
Just these words made Jian Ci turn her head suddenly, her eyes as cold as a knife, "So, why did you let her die!"
Huo Sen didn't understand. "What else could I do? She knew the situation over there best. If she hadn't diverted her attention, how could I have saved you? I really don't understand how saving you could have caused problems?!"
Jian Ci looked at his bewildered expression and suddenly lost the point of wanting to argue with him. She just took a deep breath and said, "So, the two of us are not on the same page at all. Since we have different philosophies, we can't work together, so let's stop talking nonsense."
"Jian Ci, don't go too far!" Huo Sen was really annoyed now. "This is the last chance I'm giving you. If you miss it, I won't pay any attention to you even if you beg me!"
"Don't worry, I will never beg you." The expression between Jian Ci's eyebrows was as cold as ice. "If possible, I wished that it was me who died in the fire, not her."
Huo Sen was so angry that the veins on his forehead throbbed. "You!"
