Chapter 10 I Only Have Xi Ruo as My Daughter

Madam Li smiled and said, "The little girl is so pretty. She looks a lot like Madam Bai. Are you related?"

Han Songyan's smile crumbled instantly.

My fingernail dug into my flesh, and it hurt terribly.

Her face flushed slightly, as if someone had touched a nerve, the redness extending to the back of her ears.

"Hehe, it's a relative's child who came to the capital for a while during the summer vacation."

"Anyone who didn't know better would think that little girl was your daughter," Madam Li said casually.

Madam Li did not notice that when she said those words, both Han Songyan and Bai Xiruo turned pale.

"Madam Li is joking. I only have one daughter, Xi Ruo."

When Han Songyan said those words, Bai Qianmo, who was three steps away, suddenly raised her head and glanced at them indifferently with her deep eyes.

"mom."

Just then, a refined and handsome young man walked over.

The man was dressed casually, with a tall and straight posture and fair skin, giving him a refined and elegant air.

"Yushu, isn't it a coincidence that I ran into your Aunt Han here?" Mrs. Li said to her son with a smile.

Li Yushu looked at Han Songyan and Bai Xiruo with a gentle smile on his face.

"Aunt Han, Xi Ruo."

Han Songyan smiled and said, "I heard from your mother that you just returned to the country yesterday. You must be very busy with work."

"I've been quite busy lately. I finally managed to take three days off, so I thought I'd take my mom out for a stroll," Li Yushu replied politely.

"Mrs. Li is so fortunate." Han Songyan looked at Li Yushu with admiration in her eyes.

Madam Li chuckled and joked, "I envy you for having such a well-behaved, sensible, and beautiful daughter like Xi Ruo."

The two adults exchanged pleasantries, while the two young people, Li Yushu and Bai Xiruo, stood obediently to the side.

Madam Li glanced at the time: "It's almost one o'clock. Madam Bai, Xi Ruo, what would you like to eat?"

Madam Li had a good impression of Bai Xiruo, but unfortunately she couldn't make decisions for her son.

Mrs. Li felt it was a rare opportunity to meet her son, who usually travels all over the world.

"Brother Yushu, are you familiar with this place? Why don't you recommend a restaurant?" Bai Xiruo asked softly, with the sweet and sensible manner of a young girl.

Madam Li saw this and was very satisfied.

Li Yushu considered for a moment: "There is a very famous Western restaurant upstairs. Their steaks are very American-style. You can give it a try."

Li Yushu was a shrewd man. As a diplomat, his quick wit and ability to understand people's hearts were beyond the reach of ordinary people.

He had heard his mother mention that Han Songyan and Bai Xiruo had previously lived in the United States and would definitely be able to accept Western food.

Bai Xiruo's face lit up with surprise: "American steak! I haven't had it in so long."

Li Yushu smiled faintly: "Then let's go eat Western food today."

Mrs. Li smiled and said, "Then let's have Western food. Oh, and Mrs. Bai, why don't you call that little maid over to come along?"

Han Songyan's face froze instantly; she had almost forgotten about Bai Qianmo, that ticking time bomb.

Fearing that Madam Li might notice something, Han Songyan quickly regained her composure: "Okay, I'll go call her."

At this moment, Bai Qianmo was looking down at her phone. She was wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt, which was tight-fitting and exposed her slender waist. She was wearing a sky-blue denim mini skirt, and her pair of fair legs, as white as mutton fat, were particularly eye-catching.

She stood there with a languid posture, a beautiful sight to behold.

Only then did Li Yushu notice Bai Qianmo, who was three steps away.

The moment his clear gaze fell on Bai Qianmo's face, his clear eyes narrowed slightly, and a deep, dark light flashed in his eyes.

Han Songyan walked up to Bai Qianmo and ripped off Bai Qianmo's earphones.

Bai Qianmo slightly lifted her eyelids and silently glanced at Han Songyan.

Han Songyan lowered her voice and said, "We're going to have dinner with Secretary Li's wife later. If Mrs. Li asks about your relationship with the Bai family, just say you're a distant relative of mine. Remember that?"

Bai Qianmo's cool gaze shifted away from Han Songyan's face, her thick, curled eyelashes drooping slightly, concealing the expression in her eyes.

A moment later, she gave a languid smile and put the earphones back on her ears.

"To avoid embarrassing Mrs. Bai, I, as a distant relative, will not attend your important dinner."

Her voice was cold, her expression indifferent, and she gave a provocative twitch of her lips.

His rebellious and aloof nature, like a hedgehog, pricks people's hearts with pain.

Han Songyan's face turned ugly. She moved her lips, but didn't say anything more.

Bai Qianmo straightened up slightly, no longer glancing at Han Songyan, and turned to leave.

Staring at Bai Qianmo's departing figure, Han Songyan stood frozen in place, her hands clenched into fists.

He thought to himself: It's fine, it's better not to go.

She was relieved that she didn't follow.

Bai Qianmo didn't go to dinner with them, and Madam Li didn't ask any further questions.

After all, in her eyes, Bai Qianmo was just a distant relative of the Bai family.

Han Songyan and Madam Li walked side by side, with Li Yushu and Bai Xiruo, two young people, following behind.

Li Yushu was a very quiet person, not very talkative. Most of the time, Bai Xiruo would talk excitedly, and he would occasionally smile gently.

"By the way, Xi Ruo, was that girl a relative of the Bai family?"

Li Yushu vaguely gleaned something from the conversation between his mother and Madam Bai.

Bai Xiruo's smile froze instantly. She stopped in her tracks, a hint of panic flashing in her eyes.

"It's inconvenient to talk about?"

Li Yushu noticed that Bai Xiruo's expression was off, so he stopped as well.

Bai Xiruo looked at Han Songyan and Madam Li, who had already walked away, and remained silent for a while with a complicated expression.

She then gently shook her head: "Brother Yushu, don't misunderstand. There's nothing I can't say. She's the daughter of a distant relative of my mother's. She grew up in the countryside and I heard that she dropped out of school after graduating from junior high because of a puppy love. A while ago, she insisted on coming to the capital, and my mother couldn't refuse, so she temporarily brought her to live with the Bai family."

Upon hearing Bai Xiruo's words, Li Yushu lowered his eyelids, lost in thought.

Bai Xiruo secretly glanced at Li Yushu, then clutched her dress tightly with her hands hanging at her sides.

"I see!" Li Yushu said in a very indifferent tone.

Bai Xiruo's tense body gradually relaxed.

"Brother Yushu, let's hurry up and go. Aunt Li and my mother have already gone far away."

Let's go!

...

The sky was muggy and overcast, with the imminent threat of a mountain rainstorm.

At this moment, vehicles on the opposite side of the road are waiting to pass.

A mocking voice suddenly came from inside a black Mercedes.

"Holy crap, she's got long legs."

The man sitting in the passenger seat trembled slightly with his eyelids closed, his brows furrowed, and he slowly opened his slightly cold eyes.
