Xu Hualan and Sister-in-law Zhao are making lunch together, while Bai Qianmo is helping out.
The food was served one after another. Xu Hualan carried a plate of dishes out of the kitchen, and from a distance, one could hear Old Bai talking and laughing with others.
"I never expected there to be such a proficient junior in Go. You've really impressed this old man."
Old Bai looked at the humble and composed young man beside him and felt a deep sense of admiration.
This young man was handsome and his manner of speaking clearly indicated that he was well-educated.
It's rare to find someone who even knows how to play Go.
"Your chess skills are still superb. I learned a lot from you in these games today."
Old Bai waved his hand: "Don't be modest, I know you're being lenient with me."
He and Gu Jueye just played three rounds in a row. On the surface, he won two rounds, and the kid won one.
In fact, anyone who is proficient in Go can see that Gu Jueye clearly showed signs of holding back.
His two losses and one win both gave face to Elder Bai as a senior, without making himself seem too unprincipled.
After several games of chess, Old Master Bai's impression of Gu Jueye improved significantly.
"Dad, why didn't you let me know we were having guests?"
Xu Hualan placed the food on the dining table and then walked out of the restaurant with a smile.
When Xu Hualan saw the young man standing next to Elder Bai, her expression clearly changed.
Xu Hualan stared at Gu Jueye in astonishment. How could it be him?
This is the eldest grandson of the Gu family, the beloved grandson of the Gu family elders.
Given the Gu family's social standing, they would never have any connection with the Bai family.
Unexpectedly, this person appeared at the Bai family, and even stood humbly beside Elder Bai.
Old Bai didn't pay much attention to Xu Hualan's gaze and explained to her, "This is Qianmo's friend, Aye, and this is Qianmo's aunt."
Upon hearing that it was Bai Qianmo's friend, Xu Hualan was even more astonished.
The person who could make Gu Jueye condescend to appear here was actually Qianmo?
Gu Jueye's calm gaze fell on Xu Hualan, and he politely said, "Hello, Aunt!"
Xu Hualan took a deep breath. Although seeing Gu Jueye here felt unreal, she quickly returned to normal.
"Since you're Qianmo's friend, why don't you stay for a simple meal?"
Old Bai turned his head to look at Gu Jueye: "If you're not in a hurry to leave, then stay."
Since Elder Bai had spoken personally, Gu Jueye naturally couldn't refuse. Moreover, meeting the true leader of the Bai family today was a great opportunity for him.
Bai Qianmo heard the noise outside and followed it out.
His gaze first fell on Gu Jueye, then turned to Old Bai.
She raised her eyebrows slightly, watching the two of them chatting and laughing. They seemed to have had a very pleasant conversation.
Although it's unknown what Gu Jueye and the old man talked about, the fact that he could get the old man to go from being indifferent to being polite so quickly shows that he has a knack for coaxing the elderly.
"Please sit down."
Old Master Bai sat at the head of the table, while Bai Qianmo sat to his left.
Gu Jueye then naturally walked over and sat down next to Bai Qianmo.
Xu Hualan's gaze swept back and forth between Bai Qianmo and Gu Jueye's faces with a hint of meaning, as if she understood something.
"I'll go get another set of chopsticks and a bowl," Xu Hualan said politely, withdrawing her gaze from the table.
"Aunt, I'll go."
Bai Qianmo immediately got up, ran to the kitchen, scooped out a bowl of rice, placed it directly in front of Gu Jueye, and handed him chopsticks as well.
Although the two did not speak, their behavior suggested that they were already quite familiar with each other.
Old Bai glanced at the empty seat next to Xu Hualan: "Where's that kid Yitang?"
Xu Hualan said, "He said he wasn't very hungry, so he didn't want to eat. You don't need to worry about him."
Old Bai gave a soft snort, his mind as clear as a mirror, but he didn't say anything more.
After dinner
Old Master Bai originally wanted to take Gu Jueye to his study to test his calligraphy, but Bai Qianmo forcibly took him away.
Watching his granddaughter lead the man away, Old Bai sighed, rubbing his forehead.
"Girls really are like that—once they grow up, they're gone."
Xu Hualan handed a glass of water to the old man, opened her mouth, but ultimately didn't say a word.
I don't know how Qianmo got to know this person, but judging from his words and actions just now, and his attitude towards Qianmo, it doesn't seem like he's just playing around.
Since the matter concerns the Gu family, Xu Hualan considered it carefully and decided that it was not the right time to make it public.
If Qianmo and Gu Jueye don't end up together, it might damage Qianmo's reputation.
*
Bai Qianmo saw Gu Jueye to the door and looked at him apologetically.
"My grandfather must have made things difficult for you today."
"It's normal for the elderly to worry about your safety," Gu Jueye said with a faint smile.
"Don't take it to heart. I'll explain it to Grandpa later."
Gu Jueye turned his head to look at her, a hint of curiosity on his handsome face.
"Explain what?"
When Bai Qianmo met Gu Jueye's deep and wise gaze, she couldn't help but tense up.
"My grandfather seems to have misunderstood our relationship. I will explain it to him."
Gu Jueye looked up at the azure sky, his deep eyes narrowing slightly.
"What you did last night, if you told Grandpa Bai, wouldn't it cause even more misunderstandings?"
After he finished speaking, he stared at her leisurely, his smile revealing ambiguity.
Bai Qianmo felt a "buzz" in her brain.
Was he trying to remind her of what happened last night when she saw him naked?
