Chapter 212 Not Yet Lovers

Before Bai Qianmo knew it, he had pulled her face to face into his arms, his arms encircling her.

"I heard from Yuan You that you only ate breakfast?"

Gu Jueye gave a muffled "Mmm" through a heavy nasal tone.

Feeling his body gradually getting hotter, Bai Qianmo gently placed her hand on his chest, creating a small gap between them: "Let's go eat. Otherwise, the food will get cold."

Gu Jueye felt the little girl's body stiffen a bit, chuckled teasingly, stopped teasing her, and consciously released his hands from around her waist.

The two went back to the house, and Gu Jueye said, "You sit on the sofa and watch TV for a while. I'm going to take a shower and I'll be out soon."

After saying that, he leaned over and quickly kissed Bai Qianmo on the cheek, then went to the bathroom with a happy expression.

Bai Qianmo was curled up on the sofa, boredly watching a Japanese horror movie. It was a clichéd school trope, with pale faces covered in cheap blood, and the horror scenes were completely devoid of any creativity.

Bai Qianmo stared calmly at the LCD screen, her expression completely serene. She couldn't understand how so many people could scream in terror over such an ordinary plot.

The sound of running water from the bathroom was seriously distracting her. After looking for a long time, she still couldn't figure out which one was the female lead.

Bai Qianmo turned off the TV, reached into the lunchbox, and tested the temperature with the back of her hand. She found that the food was already a bit cold, so she decided to go downstairs to heat it up in the microwave.

Just as I was about to get up, the bathroom door opened.

The man was only wrapped in a bath towel, and it seemed that if he moved his body even slightly, the towel would fall off at any moment.

Upon seeing this picture of a beautiful woman emerging from a bath, Bai Qianmo suddenly felt her throat go dry.

Noticing the little girl's gaze fixed on him, Gu Jueye smiled slightly, his already exquisite face becoming even more dazzling.

Bai Qianmo blinked nervously and quickly turned her head away in embarrassment.

This monster.

Gu Jueye walked over and sat down next to Bai Qianmo.

Feeling herself sinking down beside her, Bai Qianmo turned her head and glared at him, her eyes meeting his porcelain-white, refined skin.

"You...you don't even wear pajamas at home?" Wearing a bathrobe would be fine, it's better than coming out wrapped in a towel.

Gu Jueye reached out and opened the food box, picked up his chopsticks and slowly tore open the packaging paper, answering casually, "I moved, all my clothes are at Jinyu Huating."

Why did you suddenly move?

"This is just a temporary place to stay. I live here alone. It's so empty and doesn't feel like home."

Turning his head, Gu Jueye leaned closer to Bai Qianmo with a half-smile: "You really ate? Want to eat some more together?"

Bai Qianmo met the man's teasing smile and stiffly moved a few feet to the empty seat next to her: "I really ate. The food is a bit cold. I'll go heat it up for you."

As soon as she stood up, her wrist tightened, and a pull dragged her back onto the sofa.

"No need to trouble yourself."

Bai Qianmo frowned, thinking that he had only eaten breakfast today. This should not be an isolated case, but rather he was like this all the time, and when he was busy, he would forget about three meals a day.

Just as Gu Jueye was about to open the food box, Bai Qianmo reached out and pressed his hand down, then pushed the food box aside, stacked it together, and picked it up with both hands.

“Eating cold food is bad for your stomach. You’re young now and don’t feel it yet, but when you get older, if you develop health problems and live with pain every day, no matter how great your scientific achievements are, you won’t be able to regain a healthy body.” Bai Qianmo’s tone was angry.

Gu Jueye stared intently at the girl in front of him with his warm, smiling eyes.

"What are you laughing at?" Bai Qianmo frowned.

Gu Jueye leaned closer and chuckled softly in her ear, "You sound just like my mom!"

Bai Qianmo: "..."

With a look of anger on her face, the little girl gave a soft snort and went downstairs with her lunchbox.

Gu Jueye held his chopsticks, his gaze following that slender figure with adoration.

My memories seemed to flow back to a few years ago.

*

The little girl became his neighbor without any pretense, which initially annoyed him.

I called the landlady, but she seemed to have anticipated my call and turned off her phone beforehand.

During those days, Gu Jueye was surrounded by a gloomy atmosphere, his face clearly saying "Keep out."

A sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl is bound to be talkative and playful, and might even frequently bring friends home for meals.

He gritted his teeth inwardly, thinking that if she dared to bring her friends back, he would have a reason to kick her out.

Unexpectedly, this wait lasted for a full three months.

The three months of living together were unusually peaceful; he couldn't even feel her presence.

If it weren't for the occasional sound of a door opening downstairs late at night, he would have thought that the little girl had never come back to live there.

Her studies seemed very demanding; she would leave early in the morning and not return until late at night.

At that time, he had finished his doctoral studies and was about to graduate. He was hesitating about whether to return to China or continue his studies in Y country. He had endless papers and research to do every day.

Over time, he gradually accepted that there was another person in the house, and as long as it didn't affect each other, he would tolerate it for the time being.

Until one day

He probably damaged his stomach by eating too casually over time. The attack happened late at night when there was no medicine in the room and the nearby pharmacies had already closed.

He could only endure the pain, lying curled up in bed, hoping to fall asleep and buy medicine during the day.

But his stomach was in spasm-like pain, and he couldn't fall asleep no matter how much he tossed and turned. He wanted to drink a cup of hot water, so he staggered downstairs.
