Chapter 213 The Game of Cat and Mouse

Xia Wei didn't dare look at Guo Qiheng's face and nodded with her head down.

She sighed inwardly, "See? Even if I hadn't come looking for him, he couldn't wait to kick me out as soon as he got back from his business trip."

He was probably hoping she would leave as soon as possible.

Xia Wei mustered her courage and raised her head: "Mr. Guo, don't worry, I can leave at any time."

Guo Qiheng glanced down at her, his cold face expressionless, making it impossible to tell what he was feeling at that moment.

Beneath those deep, dark eyes lay an unfathomable darkness. Xia Wei glanced at them and immediately lowered her head.

She clutched her nightgown nervously, feeling like she was sitting on pins and needles.

Even just telling her to get lost would be better than any kind of talk; it would be more pleasant than this deathly silence.

"Why did you resign?" The man placed one arm lightly on the table, his long legs stretched forward slightly.

Xia Wei had initially kept some distance, but because of his action, his exposed calves under his robe ended up touching her knees.

Xia Wei froze, her hands, which were gripping the hem of her skirt, subtly moved to either side of the chair, as if trying to take a few more steps back.

Just as I was about to move the chair, Guo Qiheng's voice came from above.

"Do you feel the salary is insufficient?"

Xia Wei: "..."

Her hands, which were moving the chair, froze, and she looked up at the man in front of her in surprise.

No...no.

Xia Wei fell silent; she couldn't quite understand what Guo Qiheng meant.

Is he trying to persuade her to stay?

Did he not intend to get rid of her at all?

"Or is it that Miss Xia doesn't have enough time and energy to do this part-time job because of her boyfriend?"

Boy friend?

She doesn't even know where her boyfriend is.

"Mr. Guo has misunderstood. I really like this job and I also really like Xiaomidou. I just feel that I may not be a qualified teacher."

Upon hearing this answer, Guo Qiheng's face revealed a satisfied smile.

“If that’s the case, Miss Xia, you can rest assured. My son doesn’t need a teacher, but someone who can chat and talk with him. I can tell he likes you very much.”

Xia Wei was still completely bewildered when she walked out of Guo Qiheng's study.

I thought I was going to be kicked out, but it turns out the other party had no intention of leaving at all.

It seems she worried for nothing!

Thinking that she had kept her job, Xia Wei happily went downstairs and ran back to her room in a flash.

She wanted to tell Qianmo the good news immediately.

Guo Qiheng stood at the top of the stairs on the second floor, his gaze following the girl's hurried figure as she ran away. He curled his lips into a smile, turned around, and pushed open a door.

The toddler, who had just turned three, sat on the bed. When he heard someone press the doorknob, his dark pupils suddenly lit up.

The light in his eyes suddenly went out when he saw who had entered the room.

"What? You react like this when you see me?"

Guo Qiheng felt helpless because he was too busy with work to be with his son all the time. Now the little guy is gradually developing his own consciousness and his personality is becoming more and more stubborn.

The reason why she has such a strong personality at such a young age is mostly because she doesn't have her mother's company.

The reason for bringing Xia Wei to her son's side was to allow her to spend more time with him and try to make up for the maternal love he had missed for the past three years.

I never expected the little guy to become inseparable from her so quickly.

Even himself...

Putting aside his chaotic thoughts, Guo Qiheng walked to the bedside and sat down, reaching out to stroke the little guy's soft hair.

"Your mother isn't leaving, so you can sleep peacefully now?"

The little head snapped up, and a relieved smile finally appeared on the tense little face.

Guo Qiheng smiled as well.

He could actually understand the little guy's joy at that moment, because he had felt the same way after confirming that Xia Wei wasn't leaving.

The contract for the production of "Green Fruit" has been delivered to Bai Qianmo.

Early in the morning, Bai Qianmo rushed to Jiashang Media and went directly to find Su Peishan.

As soon as Su Peishan entered the office, she saw Bai Qianmo curled up in a chair playing games. She raised an eyebrow in surprise and then walked around to the desk and sat down.

"You need something so early?"

Bai Qianmo deftly put her phone in her pocket, opened her backpack, and handed the "Green Fruit" contract to Su Peishan.

"This is the contract sent by 'Qingguo' magazine. Take a look."

Su Peishan smiled and looked at Bai Qianmo: "You actually got the role?"

Su Peishan picked up the contract and glanced at it, a hint of joy immediately appearing in her eyes.

Bai Qianmo said she was going to audition for "Qingguo". She thought the girl would try her best to get the lead role, and even if she didn't get the lead role, the third lead role would be fine.

After all, she is a stunningly beautiful woman, and both the lead and third female roles would suit her well.

To her utter surprise, Bai Qianmo was actually after the role of Jiang Jiu.

When do you plan to sign the contract?

"The sooner the better!"

Su Peishan flipped through the documents, glancing at Bai Qianmo in between: "So you came to me wanting my help?"

Bai Qianmo didn't beat around the bush and directly stated her purpose.

"You know the current situation of the company. I need you to help me secure this contract legitimately."

She's currently being closely watched by the company's higher-ups, and if she signs a contract without permission, Han Songyan might use it as an excuse to cause trouble. So, before joining the production team, she needs to completely eliminate this potential threat.

After much thought, Su Peishan is the most suitable person.

"Aren't you afraid I'll take this contract directly to Zhou Mei?"
