As Bai Qianmo walked out of the coffee shop, she didn't turn around, but she could feel a pair of cold eyes staring at her from behind.
It was already past 10 p.m., and there were hardly any people on the streets.
Bai Qianmo walked to the zebra crossing and waited for the green light to come on. Soon, the green light came on for the other side. Just as Bai Qianmo was about to cross the road, her phone suddenly rang in her bag.
She took out her phone and glanced at it; it was Luo Cheng calling.
He lightly tapped the answer button with his fingertip and walked across the street while answering the call.
"Hey, Qianmo, where are you?"
Just as Bai Qianmo was about to speak, a blinding light shone directly at her, and to her left, a black sedan was speeding toward her.
The other party had their headlights on, clearly to irritate her eyes and disrupt her vision.
Bai Qianmo's face immediately turned cold. Just as the car was less than a meter away from her, she prepared to dodge, but suddenly a figure rushed towards her from the side.
Bai Qianmo was slightly startled. The next second, she felt herself being tightly encircled by a pair of strong arms. She lost her balance and fell to the ground. Then came the ear-piercing sound of wheels rolling over oil spilled on the road.
After she fell to the ground, a slightly cold hand tightly protected her head. They rolled around on the ground a few times before stopping by the roadside.
Seeing that the person had been rescued, the car immediately stepped on the gas and fled.
"Are you alright?" came an anxious voice from above.
Bai Qianmo opened her eyes and looked at the man on top of her, somewhat unable to believe her eyes. She closed her eyes and opened them again.
His handsome face was still clearly visible, and when he saw that she didn't speak, his expression grew even more gloomy.
He quickly got up, picked her up in his arms, and ran towards a black car parked not far away.
"Qianmo, don't sleep. Open your eyes and look at me. Please don't fall asleep, okay?"
Bai Qianmo nestled in the man's broad chest, listening to his heavy breathing and rapidly rising and falling heart, and suddenly felt an unparalleled sense of peace.
"Drive to the hospital."
The two members of the Gu family quickly opened the back door. Seeing their Seventh Master roaring like a madman, the two did not dare to delay and immediately got into the car to rush to the hospital.
"Wait!" Bai Qianmo finally struggled to get up from the man's arms.
She looked at Gu Jueye with a mixture of amusement and exasperation: "I'm fine."
"Why didn't you say anything just now?" Gu Jueye still didn't believe her and carefully examined her.
In the end, it was discovered that Bai Qianmo only had a few scratches on the back of her hand and no other external injuries.
"Does your head hurt? Do you feel dizzy?"
Bai Qianmo smiled and shook her head. She sat sideways on his lap, hooked her arms around his neck, and gently shook her head: "I'm really fine. I was just surprised to see you here."
The man's face remained terrifyingly gloomy. He pulled her hands down and gripped her arms tightly with his large palms. Bai Qianmo could clearly feel his body trembling slightly.
"No, I can't feel at ease until I go to the hospital to see a doctor."
Bai Qianmo knew he was worried about her, so she didn't stop him anymore.
When they arrived at a nearby hospital, Bai Qianmo wanted to get out of the car by herself, but Gu Jueye silently picked her up and carried her in his arms. The Gu family helped by running around contacting a doctor.
Gu Jueye held Bai Qianmo and waited in the emergency room.
The hospital's emergency department wasn't very crowded at night. When an elderly doctor in a white coat hurried in, he immediately spotted the handsome and sharp figure standing in the lobby.
"Can the person get down?"
"able!"
"cannot!"
Bai Qianmo and Gu Jueye exchanged glances. Gu Jueye coldly glanced at the doctor and said, "She was in a car accident. I'm afraid she'll have a concussion and won't be able to walk."
The doctor glanced at Gu Jueye's arm, then looked at Bai Qianmo: "Bring her in."
Bai Qianmo felt embarrassed by the old doctor's gaze and could only rub her head against Gu Jueye's chest.
"Put the person in the chair."
Gu Jueye walked to the table, carefully placed Bai Qianmo on the chair, and then stood aside watching the old doctor examine her.
His gaze was sharp as a knife. The old doctor pushed up his glasses and glanced at Gu Jueye indifferently: "Go wait over there."
He's been seeing patients for decades, and this is the first time he's ever seen such a clingy family member.
Gu Jueye's expression grew increasingly cold as he stood rooted to the spot, his gaze fixed on Bai Qianmo.
The feeling of terror she felt when she saw the car crashing into her hasn't subsided yet.
All he wants now is to keep her safe under his nose; otherwise, he might really go crazy!
Seeing that Gu Jueye was standing there motionless, Bai Qianmo smiled and said, "My boyfriend is worried, so let him stay here."
The doctor sighed and could only examine Bai Qianmo's injuries first.
"There's no external injury. We'll get a brain CT scan later to confirm whether there's any cerebral hemorrhage."
Gu Jueye picked up Bai Qianmo and asked the Gu family members standing behind him to pay the bill. He then took Bai Qianmo directly to the radiology room.
After taking a CT scan, Bai Qianmo sat in a chair waiting for the results, and asked Gu Jueye to go in and take one as well.
When he carried her out just now, he was almost entirely protecting her with his body, so Bai Qianmo is now more worried about whether Gu Jueye will be alright.
Gu Jueye initially refused to go in with a cold face, but Bai Qianmo insisted on not letting him pick her up. Helpless, he couldn't resist the little girl's insistence, so he could only go in and take a picture as well.
Half an hour later, the results for both of them came out.
