She could sense that the person was still nearby.
Running out of the alley, Bai Qianmo closed her eyes. When she opened them again, her dark pupils were tinged with a fiery red.
Looking around, I finally spotted a semi-transparent figure flash by on the roadside.
It's only a little past 8 p.m., and in first-tier cities, it's rush hour, with people coming and going in great numbers.
Bai Qianmo saw the ghostly figure glance at her, then turn around and disappear into another alley.
She immediately ran there, and when she reached the alley, there were only a few dim tin streetlights illuminating the area, making the entire alley even more gloomy.
The black-clad ghost seemed to be waiting for her to catch up, walking and stopping along the way. She followed closely behind, but did not immediately chase after it.
When she arrived at the door of the small building again, the ghostly figure had already slipped inside.
The small building was pitch black in the dead of night, appearing quiet and eerie, with a damp smell constantly wafting in with the night wind.
The rotten doors and windows creaked in the wind, and two thick locust trees in the courtyard shaded the small building.
Bai Qianmo stepped slowly into the house, her feet crunching on the fallen leaves. The old wooden door opened with a gentle push of her fingers.
Upon entering again, the interior was already quite familiar.
Bai Qianmo glanced around with her cold gaze, then headed towards the study.
"Clang!" The sound of a cup shattering came from the second floor.
Bai Qianmo paused slightly, raised her gaze, and glanced at the second floor.
"Meow!" A cat's meow followed.
"I know you're in there. Should you come out or should I go in?"
A deathly silence fell over the room, and after a while, giggles could be heard from inside.
The sound was as grating as pulling a broken bellows.
Bai Qianmo's figure flashed quickly, and she rushed inside.
At the window, the man in black slowly turned around. His huge black cloak hood concealed him entirely in darkness, making it impossible to see his face.
"I've been waiting for you here all this time, Jin'en!"
Bai Qianmo's expression immediately turned cold: "You've mistaken me for someone else. I'm not Xu Jin'en."
The man in black chuckled for a while: "You've just forgotten, it doesn't matter. I'll make you remember everything. I'm alive just to wait for you."
"Xu Changchong, you have killed countless people over the past hundred years, and you have maintained your appearance and lifespan by drinking human blood. It was not for Xu Jin'en at all. You were only doing it because of your own greed for immortality. Don't impose your dirty thoughts on Xu Jin'en. You are not worthy!"
"Jin'en, even if I don't kill them, they won't let me go. The Yin family, the Gu family, the Xu family, and the Qin family—they all deserve to die! They're the ones who prevented me from being with you, they're the ones who caused our separation by death. So, they all deserve to die, they all deserve to die!!"
Bai Qianmo clenched her fists tightly, and years of hatred erupted in an instant.
You're the one who deserves to die!
She flashed forward, her fist flashing red light, and slammed it hard into the black-clad man's chest. The man was still laughing, and when Bai Qianmo's fist came down, his figure instantly turned into a wisp of green smoke.
The next second, he instantly appeared behind Bai Qianmo.
Bai Qianmo suddenly turned around and attacked again.
This time, the man in black did not dodge, but steadily caught Bai Qianmo's palm strike.
"Jin En, you've changed. You never used to be able to bear hurting me."
"Shut up! I'm not Xu Jin'en!" Bai Qianmo struck viciously, as if she were about to kill the other person.
"Bang!" Although the man in black was exchanging blows with Bai Qianmo, he kept teasing her.
Bai Qianmo struck with astonishing speed; the man in black couldn't dodge in time and was struck hard in the chest.
He took a few steps back, and although she couldn't see his face, she could still feel his burning gaze fixed on her.
"Hehe, it seems the Gu family has done a good job training you over the years. Your energy has increased a lot compared to five years ago."
Bai Qianmo smiled coldly: "I live only to kill you!"
The dark figure leaned against the damp wall, still chuckling softly: "A long time ago, you said the same thing to me, Jin'en. No matter how many years have passed, you haven't changed at all."
With a couple of chuckles, seemingly in a provocative manner, the man in black flashed towards Bai Qianmo. Bai Qianmo immediately raised her hand to retaliate, but the man grabbed her hand with one hand and gently pulled it. As Bai Qianmo attacked back, the man in black lightly kissed the back of her hand.
He then let out a wicked laugh, turned around, and disappeared.

When Gu Jueye returned to the research institute, he found that Bai Qianmo was not there waiting for him.
I took out my phone and dialed her number, but no one answered after it rang for a long time.
He frowned slightly, opened WeChat, and sure enough, found the WeChat message that Bai Qianmo had left for him.
X Unknown: Something urgent needs to be done, so I won't be waiting for you to get off work. Remember to eat!
Upon seeing Bai Qianmo's message, Gu Jueye's expression softened.
He turned to Yuan You beside him and asked, "Has dinner been ordered?"
Yuan You glanced at the time; it was only a little past eight in the evening. When did the boss start eating dinner so early?
"Boss, what would you like to eat? I'll order takeout right away."
"Keep an eye on it, and send it directly to my office later."
"OK!"

Bai Qianmo walked out of the small building and shone a flashlight beam at her a few times.
"Qianmo!" Luo Cheng exclaimed in surprise.
Upon seeing Luo Cheng, Bai Qianmo's expression quickly returned to normal: "Why didn't you leave?"
“I was worried that you might be in danger on your own. Your colleagues have already been sent to the hospital, so I thought I'd wander around the neighborhood and see if I could run into you.”
Thank you for your concern.
Luo Cheng looked towards the small building and asked in confusion, "Why are you here again?"
"Isn't this place supposed to be haunted? I want to see what a ghost looks like!"
Luo Cheng: "..."
Seeing Bai Qianmo walk away, Luo Cheng felt a cold wind blow behind him and immediately followed.
"So you just saw a ghost?"
Don't blame him for being superstitious. Over the years, he has witnessed too many bizarre and strange cases. Some things cannot be explained by science for the time being, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
“I see them, there are men and women. Do you want to go in and say hello to them?” Bai Qianmo turned her head to look at him.
Luo Cheng chuckled twice: "Let's forget it. I'm afraid they're short one player and want to keep me here to play mahjong!"
