Qin Family Old House
Mr. Qin suffered a sudden heart attack.
Gu Jueye, his father Gu Zhizhou, and his mother Qin Lin rushed over.
Doorway
Qin Lao's daughter-in-law, Jin Ziying, and granddaughter, Qin Jingwen, were waiting anxiously outside.
"How is the old man?" Qin Lin asked anxiously as she walked up.
Jin Ziying frowned, her thin face filled with worry: "She was fine this morning, but after going out for a while, she suddenly fell ill shortly after returning."
Gu Jueye stood to the side, his handsome face slightly darkening.
His gaze fell toward the tightly closed door.
Where did Grandpa go?
Qin Jingwen, who had not spoken until now, suddenly spoke softly.
"Grandpa went to visit Dad today."
The girl's voice was soft, with a hint of sadness.
Jin Ziying's eyes suddenly welled up with tears, and she lowered her eyelids to hide the tears welling up in her eyes.
Qin Dongze is the only son of the Qin family.
Seven years ago, he became a vegetable due to brain death during a special mission.
He is currently lying in the intensive care unit of the military general hospital.
The accident involving his son dealt a heavy blow to Old Master Qin. The once tough, decisive, and efficient old man seemed to have aged overnight.
At this time
The door was gently pushed open.
A young woman wearing a white coat walked out slowly.
Two assistants followed behind her. She tilted her head slightly and was giving instructions to one of them.
"Call Dean Li and have the equipment delivered as soon as possible."
"I understand, Dr. Ye."
The young woman nodded, then turned her gaze toward the group of people outside the door.
As her gaze swept past Gu Jueye, a glimmer of starlight flashed in her eyes.
"Uncle Gu, Aunt Gu, Aunt Jin, don't worry too much, Grandpa Qin has already woken up."
The people outside the door immediately felt a weight lifted from their hearts.
"Qian Ning, can we go in now?"
Ye Qianning glanced at Gu Jueye, remembering what Old Qin had said before she left.
She shook her head apologetically: "Grandpa Qin instructed that only A-Ye should go in."
Gu Zhizhou and Qin Lin exchanged a glance.
Their eyes were full of confusion.
Why does the old man only see Ah Ye?
"Ah Ye, why don't you go in and see your grandfather?"
Although she was very upset, Qin Lin still followed Old Master Qin's instructions and stopped outside the door.
Gu Jueye responded and went directly into Old Master Qin's bedroom.
Once inside, I closed the door behind me.
Turning to look at the bed, I saw Old Qin, pale-faced, leaning against the soft pillow at the head of the bed.
"Grandpa, what do you think?"
"He's not going to die yet!" Old Qin glanced at Gu Jueye with his deep, aged eyes.
A wrinkled hand reached towards the bedside table.
Do you know why I wanted to see you alone?
Gu Jueye walked up to Old Qin, his deep eyes falling on what Old Qin was holding.
His eyes narrowed slightly, and a cool, dark light appeared.
It was a leaf.
A black leaf!
"It's him!"
A hint of sorrow was faintly visible on Qin Lao's weathered face.
After a long silence, a helpless sigh echoed through the quiet room.
"I never imagined that even after seven years, he would still come looking for me!"
Gu Jueye reached out and took the leaf, which resembled a maple leaf and even had pure black veins.
The entire leaf was free of any impurities.
It appeared so quietly, defying the laws of the ecosystem, and was shrouded in mystery and strangeness.
Outside the door
Qin Lin's tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed, and she affectionately took Ye Qianning's hand.
"Qian Ning, thank goodness you arrived in time today, otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable!"
Gu Zhizhou, who was standing next to Qin Lin, showed a hint of appreciation on his usually serious and profound face.
"Qian Ning has been a promising child since she was a child. No wonder she is Old Master Ye's granddaughter."
Old Qin's illness came on suddenly.
Ye Songjin happened to be abroad attending an academic research event and couldn't make it himself, so he temporarily sent Ye Qianning over.
Gu Zhizhou rarely praises people. Even when his own son won a world-class award, Gu Zhizhou only said a few words indifferently.
"Not bad, but we need to stay calm, not get complacent, and not be stuck in our ways!"
It's rare to see someone praise another person so directly.
Ye Qianning certainly deserves the title of "excellent".
My grandfather was Ye Songjin, the president of the General Hospital of the Military Region, and my parents were also national-level medical experts.
She herself had excellent grades since childhood, and under the influence of her grandfather and parents, she also chose to study medicine.
He is now the deputy chief physician of the General Hospital of the Military Region, and also the youngest associate senior physician in the hospital's 100-year history.
Ye Songjin was Qin Lao's close friend and also Qin Lao's attending physician.
The two families have very close ties.
Therefore, Gu Zhizhou and Qin Lin, as a couple, have watched Ye Qianning grow up.
In addition, Gu Jueye and Ye Qianning grew up together in the compound, and Old Master Qin once jokingly said that he wanted to arrange a marriage between the two families.
Therefore, although neither the Qin nor the Ye families have explicitly stated it over the years, they have both intended to bring Gu Jueye and Ye Qianning together.
In response to Gu Zhizhou's praise, Ye Qianning replied with gentle composure: "Uncle Gu is just teasing me. With such an outstanding son as Aye, how could I possibly catch your eye?"
Her voice was soft, with a touch of girlish coquettishness and playfulness.
When his son was praised, a barely perceptible smile appeared on Gu Zhizhou's serious face.
Gu Jueye only left the room after watching Qin Lao take his medicine and fall asleep.
When Qin Lin, Gu Zhizhou, Jin Ziying, and Qin Jingwen saw Gu Jueye walk out of the room, they crowded around him and began to inquire about the situation.
