Bai Qianmo blinked: "Does the old man know me?"
After a long silence, Old Wei gently shook his head.
"May I ask how the young lady is addressed?"
"Bai Qianmo!"
"Miss Bai, thank you for saving Xiaoyan. May I have your contact information? I will definitely bring Xiaoyan to visit you in person to express my gratitude another day."
Bai Qianmo glanced at the child in her arms, a gentle smile unconsciously appearing in her eyes.
"No need. The child is still so young. Parents must keep a close eye on him from now on."
Old Wei gave Bai Qianmo a deep look, then lowered his gaze and glanced at Xiao Yan.
He nodded somewhat absentmindedly: "Miss Bai really likes children?"
Bai Qianmo was slightly taken aback. Did she like children?
It seems not.
This was the first time she had seriously considered this question, though she did seem to have a knack for attracting children.
Aunt Zhang's little grandson also clung to her last time, and although Xiao Yan is asleep, he still refuses to leave her side.
During this time, the young policewoman tried several times to carry the child to the bed in the break room, but as soon as she got close, the child would immediately shrink into her arms and cling tightly to her clothes.
"I haven't thought about that, but Xiaoyan is very cute."
Old Wei's eyes crinkled into a smile: "Miss Bai, please leave me your contact information. Xiao Yan never lets strangers near him, but he seems to trust you a lot."
Chen Xiang, who was standing nearby, quickly said, "Boss, please keep one."
Bai Qianmo looked at Chen Xiang, and Chen Xiang winked at her.
Chen Xiang's words seemed to have a hidden meaning.
Since Mr. Wei is asking for my contact information again, it wouldn't be good to refuse.
After hesitating for a moment, Bai Qianmo gave him her phone number. Old Wei took out his phone, added it to his contacts, and then called back.
A vibration sounded, and Old Wei smiled with satisfaction.
"Miss Bai, this is my phone number. Please call me if you need any help."
Old Wei wanted to take Xiao Yan away from Bai Qianmo's arms, but as soon as he reached out, the little girl in his arms suddenly opened her eyes. Her eyes were as bright as stars, set on her fair and jade-like face, making her already exquisite appearance even more dazzling.
Seeing those eyes, Bai Qianmo felt a slight tremor in her heart.
These eyes gave her a strange sense of familiarity.
The child blinked, lay in her arms and stared at her, as if scrutinizing her or studying her.
"Xiao Yan, do you know how dangerous it was for you to run away? If this lady hadn't saved you, you would probably have been kidnapped by the kidnappers by now." Old Wei's face was serious as he lectured in a cold voice.
But Xiao Yan didn't seem afraid of his grandfather at all. He ignored the old man and stared straight at Bai Qianmo with his big, black grape-like eyes.
Bai Qianmo looked back at him, and seeing that the little guy didn't speak, she didn't speak either.
Old Wei coughed lightly: "Xiao Yan, come back with your grandpa. Your grandma is worried sick at home."
Upon hearing the mention of his grandmother, Xiao Yan finally reacted, sitting up nimbly from Bai Qianmo's arms, and Old Wei picked him up in the process.
"Let me down!" a childish voice rang out, tinged with a hint of estrangement.
Old Wei frowned, but still obediently put Xiao Yan down.
Xiao Yan turned around and walked up to Bai Qianmo. She stared at Bai Qianmo with those straight eyes for a moment, then took something out of her pocket and stuffed it into Bai Qianmo's hand.
Then, as if he had completed his task, he turned around and grabbed Old Wei's sleeve: "Let's go!"
Children speak very little and their words are concise, which is somewhat similar to myself.
"Miss Bai, we'll be leaving now."
Bai Qianmo stood up and saw Old Master Wei and Xiao Yan out.
In the corridor, Xiao Yan held Old Wei's hand. Just as they were about to turn the corner, she couldn't help but turn back and glance at Bai Qianmo again.
Her fair and delicate face was expressionless, but her bright, large eyes seemed to reveal something.
"This little kid already knows he likes pretty girls," Chen Xiang joked.
Bai Qianmo didn't speak. She lowered her head, opened her palm, and there was a beautifully wrapped piece of chocolate in her hand.
Chen Xiang chuckled: "In a child's eyes, chocolate is as tempting as money is to an adult. The fact that this little guy gave you chocolate means he likes you a lot. Boss, you seem so cold, but I didn't expect you to be so popular with kids."
Bai Qianmo glanced at Chen Xiang indifferently: "Go back to the company, I have work to assign you."
Chen Xiang was taken aback, then his lips twitched: "Work? My job is to entertain guests at the company, isn't it?"
"Did you always want to work at the front desk?"
"No, of course I don't want to!!"
There are now two young women at the front desk, and he feels like he's about to be assimilated. They've started treating him like a sister, and if this continues, he's afraid he'll start to doubt his own gender. Just thinking about it gives Chen Xiang a headache.
Back when I was the marketing manager, the company was small and didn't have much of a future, but my position was still second only to the boss and above dozens of others.
Now, aside from the necessary reception duties, he basically spends his days sitting with the two young women, listening to them gossip, talk about clothes, and even more outrageously, they no longer shy away from sensitive topics like what brand of underwear to buy or which brand of sanitary napkins to use during their periods…
He's a grown man, you know?!
*
After leaving the police station, the two got into the car.
Chen Xiang secretly glanced at Bai Qianmo several times: "Boss, you're so good at fighting, have you been trained?"
