Gu Jueye and Yuan You arrived at Ji Miao's research lab precisely at 2 p.m.
After receiving Gu Jueye's call, Ji Miao personally went out to greet him.
Although Ji Miao was affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, his research lab was far away from the academy.
It takes more than 40 minutes to get there from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The research lab was quiet. Apart from Ji Miao, only a few doctoral students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, who were working on their projects, were busy.
"Qingqing, go and make two cups of tea."
"Okay." Ji Qingqing's gaze hadn't left Gu Jueye ever since he appeared.
She didn't show any signs of being a young girl.
However, she was a bit shy, and even though she really wanted to talk to the person she liked, she never dared to be too impulsive and would just stand in a far corner and secretly peek at him.
As Ji Qingqing left, Ji Miao looked at Gu Jueye and casually offered an explanation.
"Although Qingqing is a girl, she is very interested in this industry. When choosing her major in college, she chose biology without hesitation. She likes to come to my place on weekends when she has nothing to do, and she can help out in some ways."
Gu Jueye remained calm and composed, his handsome face showing little emotion.
He didn't ask any further questions about Ji Qingqing's matter.
"Professor Ji, the new discovery you mentioned?"
Seeing that Gu Jueye wasn't interested in Qingqing, Ji Miao stopped talking and started discussing serious matters.
“An archaeology expert I know recently discovered an ancient tomb in Pei County in the southwest. The identity of the tomb's occupant has not yet been determined, but the archaeological team discovered a strange script and pattern on a parchment scroll.”
Upon hearing this, Gu Jueye's indifferent gaze paused slightly, and he waited with great interest for Ji Miao to continue.
Ji Miao got up and walked to his desk, opened the middle drawer, and took out an A4-sized color printout.
After glancing at Gu Jueye, Ji Miao walked over with the color drawing in his hand.
"Take a look at this."
Gu Jueye glanced at the A4 paper Ji Miao handed him, his eyes widening in surprise, and then he reached out and took it.
The paper that Ji Miao handed over was a sheepskin scroll that had been unearthed this time. Two-thirds of the scroll was covered with dense text, but the text was one he had never seen before. The remaining third of the scroll was covered with many strange patterns, which looked somewhat abstract overall.
One of the patterns caught Gu Jueye's attention. It was a spiral-shaped line and surface diagram. When viewed as a whole, it looked like the Buddhist symbol "卍". To his surprise, this pattern was very similar to the icon on the "Time Bureau" that Qianmo had found last night. Both were constructed from points, lines, and surfaces, and both were in a spiral form.
"Professor Ji, are there any archaeological experts who can decipher the text and patterns on it?"
Ji Miao sighed with some regret: "This parchment scroll has been sent to the relevant departments for research, but no one has been able to decipher the text on it yet."
Gu Jueye pondered for a moment, then asked curiously, "What is the connection between this and the black leaves we are studying?"
Ji Miao was a very meticulous person. He had been secretly studying and analyzing the leaf that was found in the Qin family's house within the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
After repeated cell dissection experiments and comparisons with related plants, it was found that this leaf does not resemble a plant that can grow in the current Earth's climate.
Zhao Guofeng's leaf, a symbol of revenge, appeared out of thin air. What's even more surprising is that this leaf has been there for half a year and shows no signs of decay.
The new discovery that Jimu mentioned is also related to research on black leaves.
Therefore, when Ji Miao took out this strange sheepskin scroll, Gu Jueye did not understand his meaning at first.
Ji Miao took out his phone and flipped through a photo in his album: "This was also excavated from inside the tomb. Take a look."
Gu Jueye reached out and took the phone. The photo on the phone showed a piece of black jade shaped like a leaf. Although it had been buried underground for many years, it had now seen the light of day again, and the direction of the leaf and stem was still clearly visible.
Upon seeing the black jade stone, Gu Jueye's heart trembled violently.
Its shape and texture are almost identical to that of the black leaf.
Ji Miao continued, "The texture of this jade is very special. It looks like it is made of black jade, but it is very different from ordinary black jade. The whole piece of jade is icy cold. Holding it in your hand is like holding a piece of ice. At present, this piece of jade is also an object that the archaeological team has not yet figured out. It has been sent for relevant research along with the sheepskin scroll."
"Ah Ye, the black leaf we're studying has a similar shape to this piece of black jade. Could there be some connection between the two?"
Gu Jueye stared at the black jade leaf and pondered for a while: "To figure out these two things, we first need to find out the identity of the tomb's owner and the age of the tomb."
“That’s right. I’ve already spoken to my friend. He’ll let us know as soon as there’s any news from them. However, my friend also wants to see the black leaf we’re studying.”
Gu Jueye pondered for a moment: "I'd like to meet with that archaeological expert at some time in the next few days."
Ji Miao nodded in agreement: "Okay, I'll arrange a meeting time for you as soon as possible."
Ji Qingqing knocked on the door.
The conversation between Ji Miao and Gu Jueye has come to an end.
"Come in." Ji Miao looked towards the door.
Ji Qingqing carried two cups of brewed tea to Gu Jueye and Yuan You.
Looking at the man so close to her, Ji Qingqing felt a little nervous, and her steps seemed somewhat frivolous.
