Bai Qianmo paused slightly, her clear eyes wide.
This is a huge misunderstanding.
On second thought, I decided against it; the more I explained, the more it would make me seem guilty, and I'd just be wasting my breath.
Gu Jueye's face showed little emotion, appearing neither happy nor sad.
He glanced out the window, his eyes deep and thoughtful.
"It's getting late. If you have nothing else to do, I'll take Qianmo home first."
A soft murmur, spoken naturally, as if the name had been murmured countless times.
Bai Qianmo suddenly looked up at him, her heart feeling as if it had been struck hard by a gong and drum, the echo still gently reverberating in her ears.
Her clear eyes were slightly lowered, and her whole being seemed to be shrouded in a misty fog, like the gray sky outside the window at the transition between day and night, dim and hazy.
Gu Jueye glanced at her quickly, his well-defined fingers seemingly casually toying with the teacup in his hand.
Old Qin stared at the two of them, a hint of satisfaction appearing in his cloudy eyes.
It seems this kid isn't so clueless after all.
"With you by my side, there's no rush to leave. Little Bai, help me to the study."
Gu Jueye remained silent, but a hint of a smile flickered in his eyes.
His maternal grandfather is still his maternal grandfather.
Bai Qianmo thought to herself, "It's precisely because he's around that I'm worried."
This man appears calm and reserved, with a measured approach, but in reality, he is deeply scheming. He always manages to hit her sore spot with a single word or sentence, seemingly unintentionally.
My mind was in turmoil, and I felt a bit agitated.
Taking a deep breath, she obediently got up and helped the old man to the study.
In the living room
At this moment, only Qin Jingwen and her brother Gu Jueye remained.
Chen Jingwen ran to Gu Jueye's side and stared at him with a smile.
"Cousin, so this is the type of girl you like."
"Miss Bai seems like a nice person. You should seize this opportunity."
After all, her cousin was too reserved, cold, arrogant, and particularly difficult to please.
She was really worried that Miss Bai wouldn't be able to stand her cousin's bad temper.
I remember when my cousin was in high school, a very famous school beauty pursued him.
A young girl blocked his way home from school, holding a pink love letter, and tremblingly confessed her love to him.
"Young Master Ye, I...I like you. Will you be my boyfriend?"
The girl's eyes were filled with the tender feelings of first love, and her fair hands, holding the love letter, trembled incessantly with nervousness.
The boy standing opposite her, carrying a backpack, looked handsome and alluring in his clean blue school uniform.
The school beauty was gorgeous, delicate and fragile, the kind of sickly beauty that could melt a man's heart at first glance.
But the person she confessed to barely even glanced at her.
He replied coldly, "Go ask my mother."
Girl: "..."
It was like being struck by lightning!
What does this mean?
Who in Beijing's social circles doesn't know that Madam Gu is shrewd, assertive, and extremely difficult to deal with?
Going to Mrs. Gu and telling her you like her son is practically suicide.
The girl stood there all alone, her hair disheveled in the wind.
The story spread throughout the school, and from then on, no one dared to confess their feelings to him face to face. He was truly unyielding to be single for so long.
Qin Jingwen snapped out of her thoughts and looked at the elegant and refined man in front of her.
"Miss Bai seems quite young. Won't there be a generation gap between you two?"
Gu Jueye's deep gaze returned from the small bamboo grove outside the window, his brows furrowed with a hint of darkness.
"Generation gap?"
Do they have such a thing?
Chen Jingwen said very seriously, "Yes, you're almost thirty, but Miss Bai looks no more than eighteen or nineteen. As the saying goes, there's a generation gap every three years, so there must be at least two generation gaps between you two."
"Young girls generally prefer men their own age. Occasionally, there are a few oddballs who like older men, but that's because they lack fatherly love."
Qin Jingwen spoke with great enthusiasm, as if she had thought of something.
"Oh dear, Miss Bai isn't underage, is she? Cousin, it's illegal to seduce a minor."
Gu Jueye's lips twitched slightly as he glanced at her indifferently.
"Is there chicken soup simmering in the kitchen?"
Qin Jingwen slapped her thigh and hurriedly got up and headed to the kitchen: "I almost forgot!"
Gu Jueye pinched the bridge of his nose, finally getting some peace and quiet.
A thought flashed through my mind.
He and the little girl look so... mismatched?

study
Old Qin sat on a double sofa by the window, his hands folded, holding a dragon-headed cane.
His dark, wise eyes fixed on Bai Qianmo for a moment.
"Sit down!"
Bai Qianmo's eyes flickered slightly before she walked straight to the single sofa next to her and sat down.
"I heard you're investigating a female celebrity?" Old Qin stared straight at her.
Bai Qianmo frowned slightly; the news really did travel fast.
She had only been on the phone with Luo Cheng for three or four hours when the old man already received the news.
“My every move is under your control. You don’t need to confirm this with me personally.” His tone was slightly displeased.
Old Master Qin, with his keen intuition, naturally guessed what she was thinking at that moment.
"It concerns the safety of the Qin family. The A Bureau will keep you informed of any progress in the 314 case."
Old Qin smiled faintly, his deep eyes becoming even more unfathomable.
"Who is that female celebrity?"
"She looks a lot like the nurse who broke into Director Qin's room that day, but their voices are very different, so I can't be sure they are the same person yet."
Old Qin was silent for a while, then sighed softly, "It's always good to make progress. If there's anything I can help you with, just let me know."
